Prevention of de novo HBV infection by the presence of anti-HBs in transplanted patients receiving core antibody-positive livers

AIm： To analyze whether the presence of anti-HBs in liver transplant recipients is effective in preventing HBV infection. mETHODS： Twenty-three patients receiving anti-HBc positive liver were studied. nine recipients were anti-HBc positive as a result of previous HBV infection. Of them, one also received HBV vaccine during the pre-liver transplantation period. Fourteen recipients were anti-HBs positive due to HBV vaccine administered during the pretransplant period. Liver biopsy was obtained in 10/14 anti-HBc negative/anti-HBs positive recipients and in 4/9 anti-HBc positive recipients. RESULTS： After a mean foUow-up period of 46 months, 1 recipient with protective serum anti-HBs levels developed de novo HBV infection as a consequence of immune escape HBV mutants. Among the 14 vaccinated anti-HBc negative/anti-HBs positive recipients, 1/10 patients with available liver biopsy （10%） had liver HBV-DnA at 13 mo post-liver transplantation without serum viral markers and did not develop de novo HBV *** vaccinated anti-HBc positive recipient without HBV vaccine response was HBV-DnA positive in serum and liver, viral DnA was continuously negative in the following tests, so a spontaneous seroconversion was diagnosed. COnCLUSIOn： The presence of anti-HBs as a result of HBV vaccine or past HBV infection seems to be effective at protecting patients receiving livers from anti-HBc positive donors. However, the emergence of immune escape HBV mutants, which can evade the anti-HBs protection, should be considered as a risk of HBV infection.

Recent reports suggest that aging is not solely a physiological process in living beings;instead, it should be considered a pathological process or disease(Amorim et al., 2022). Consequently, this process involves a wide range of factors, spanning from genetic to environmental factors, and even includes the gut microbiome(Gm)(mayer et al., 2022). All these processes coincide at some point in the inflammatory process, oxidative stress, and apoptosis, at different degrees in various organs and systems that constitute a living organism(mayer et al., 2022;AguilarHernández et al., 2023).

We study the Banach-Lie group Ltaut（A） of Lie triple automorphisms of a complex associative H^＊-algebra A. Some consequences about its Lie algebra, the algebra of Lie triple derivations of A, Ltder（A）, are obtained. For a topologically simple A, in the infinite-dimensional case we have Ltaut（A）0 = Aut（A） implying Ltder（A） = Der（A）. In the finite-dimensional case Ltaut（A）0 is a direct product of Aut（A） and a certain subgroup of Lie derivations δ from A to its center, annihilating commutators.

We work with the abstract K and J interpolation method generated by a sequence lattice Г. We investigate the deviation of an interpolated operator from a given operator ideal by establishing formulae for the ideal measure of the interpolated operator in terms of the ideal measures of restrictions of the operator. Formulae are given in terms of the norms of the shift operators on Г.

On the non-evolution of the dependence of black hole masses on bolometric luminosities for QSOs

There are extremely luminous quasi stellar objects （QSOs） at high redshift which are absent at low redshift. The lower luminosities at low redshifts can be understood as the external manifestation of either a lower Eddington ratio or a lower mass. To distinguish between both effects, we determine the possible dependence of masses and Eddington ratios of QSOs with a fixed luminosity as a function of redshifts; this avoids the malmquist bias or any other selection effect. For the masses and Eddington ratios derived for a sample of QSOs in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, we model their evolution by a double linear fit separating the dependence on redshifts and luminosities. The validity of the fits and possible systematic effects were tested by the use of different estimators of masses or bolometric luminosities, and possible intergalactic extinction effects. The results do not show any significant evolution of black hole masses or Eddington ratios for equal luminosity QSOs. The black hole mass only depends on the bolometric luminosity without significant dependence on the redshift as （m BH/10 9 m ）≈ 3.4 （L bol/10 47 erg s-1）0.65 on average for z ≤ 5. This must not be confused with the possible evolution in the formation of black holes in QSOs. The variations of the environment might influence the formation of the black holes but not their subsequent accretion. It also leaves a question to be solved： Why are there not QSOs with very high mass at low redshift？ A brief discussion of the possible reasons for this is tentatively pointed out.

mobility of Arsenic and Heavy metals in a Sandy-Loam Textured and Carbonated Soil

The continued effect of the pyrite-tailing oxidation on the mobility of arsenic, lead, zinc, cadmium, and copper was studied in a carbonated soil under natural conditions, with the experimental plot preserved with a layer of tailing covering the soil during three years. The experimental area is located in Southern Spain and was affected by a pyrite-mine spill. The climate in the area is typically mediterranean, which determines the rate of soil alteration and element mobility. The intense alteration processes that occurred in the soil during three years caused important changes in its morphology and a strong degradation of the main soil properties. In this period, lead concentrated in the first 5 mm of the soil, with concentrations higher than 1500 mg kg?1, mainly associated to the neoformation of plumbojarosite. Arsenic was partially leached from the first 5 mm and mainly concentrated between 5–10 mm in the soil, with maximum values of 1239 mg kg-1; the retention of arsenates was related to the neoformation of iron hydroxysulfates (jarosite, schwertmannite) and oxyhydroxides (goethite, ferrihydrite), both with a variable degree of crystallinity. The mobility of Zn, Cd, and Cu was highly affected by pH, producing a stronger leaching in depth; their retention was related to the forms of precipitated aluminium and, in the case of Cu, also to the neoformation of hydroxysulfate.
