multiple myeloma is a hematological malignancy inwhich clonal plasma cells proliferate and accumulate within the bone marrow. The presence of osteolytic le-sions due to increased osteoclast(OC) activity and sup-pressed osteoblast(OB) function is characteristic of the disease. The bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells(mSCs) play a critical role in multiple myeloma patho-physiology, greatly promoting the growth, survival, drug resistance and migration of myeloma cells. Here, we specifically discuss on the relative contribution of mSCs to the pathophysiology of osteolytic lesions in light of the current knowledge of the biology of my-eloma bone disease(mBD), together with the reported genomic, functional and gene expression differences between mSCs derived from myeloma patients(pmSCs) and their healthy counterparts(dmSCs). Being mSCs the progenitors of OBs, pmSCs primarily contribute to the pathogenesis of mBD because of their reduced osteogenic potential consequence of multiple OB inhibi-tory factors and direct interactions with myeloma cells in the bone marrow. Importantly, pmSCs also readily contribute to mBD by promoting OC formation and ac-tivity at various levels(i.e., increasing RANKL to OPG expression, augmenting secretion of activin A, uncou-pling ephrinB2-EphB4 signaling, and through augment-ed production of Wnt5a), thus further contributing to OB/OC uncoupling in osteolytic lesions. In this review, we also look over main signaling pathways involved in the osteogenic differentiation of mSCs and/or OB activity, highlighting amenable therapeutic targets; in parallel, the reported activity of bone-anabolic agents(at preclinical or clinical stage) targeting those signaling pathways is commented.

Households as Sources Contributing the most to Urban Solid Wastes Production:Implications for a Better management and Disposal

Households are the sources contributing the most to the production of urban solid wastes in developing countries. The present study analyses the generation of domestic solid wastes in a settlement in mexico in two different years. The goals were to compare composition and rates of generation into the periods to assess changes and the influence of socioeconomic variables. In 1998 and 2004, wastes from households were sampled of three socioeconomic levels randomly selected, and a survey was applied. Data obtained were analyzed with descriptive and multivariate analysis. Results of generation rate and composition of domestic solid wastes showed a negative correlation between generation and income in the first one, but positive in the second one;in both, composition did not show correlation. Rates of per capita generation, per household, population and density of inhabitants per dwelling increased, and the generation of wastes were more with respect to population growth, which emphasizes the influence of economic and demographic variables. This study corroborates that households are the principal sources of urban solid wastes and it is emphasized that management strategies must preponderate households to be successful. In addition, this information is important to establish strategies for an integral management of urban solid wastes in developing countries.

Analysis of the Potential for Internationalization of a medium Enterprise in the mexican Footwear Sector

This research is a longitudinal case study with descriptive scope and mixed methodology： quantitative and qualitative. The aim of this paper is to analyze the potential for internationalization of a medium-sized enterprise （SmE） in the footwear sector in the city of Leon Guanajuato, mexico, in order to identify the feasibility of carrying out the plans of international trade. An analysis of both the industry and the organization was made. SmE has an incipient experience for the US market. The results show that the company has potential for internationalization, but insertion into other markets must be gradual, given the nature of the organization, and must be formally planned.

Evaluation of integration methods for hybrid simulation of complex structural systems through collapse

This study examines the performance of integration methods for hybrid simulation of large and complex structural systems in the context of structural collapse due to seismic excitations. The target application is not necessarily for real-time testing, but rather for models that involve large-scale physical sub-structures and highly nonlinear numerical models. Four case studies are presented and discussed. In the first case study, the accuracy of integration schemes including two widely used methods, namely, modified version of the implicit Newmark with fixed-number of iteration （iterative） and the operator-splitting （non-iterative） is examined through pure numerical simulations. The second case study presents the results of 10 hybrid simulations repeated with the two aforementioned integration methods considering various time steps and fixed-number of iterations for the iterative integration method. The physical sub-structure in these tests consists of a single-degree-of-freedom （SDOF） cantilever column with replaceable steel coupons that provides repeatable highly- nonlinear behavior including fracture-type strength and stiffness degradations. In case study three, the implicit Newmark with fixed-number of iterations is applied for hybrid simulations of a 1：2 scale steel moment frame that includes a relatively complex nonlinear numerical substructure. Lastly, a more complex numerical substructure is considered by constructing a nonlinear computational model of a moment frame coupled to a hybrid model ofa 1：2 scale steel gravity frame. The last two case studies are conducted on the same porotype structure and the selection of time steps and fixed number of iterations are closely examined in pre-test simulations. The generated unbalance forces is used as an index to track the equilibrium error and predict the accuracy and stability of the simulations.

In this paper,the determination of Thiram fungicide by a novel modified screen-printed carbon electrode(SPCE)fabricated modifying the working electrode(WE)with 2D-GO/WS2nanohybrid composites,is *** electron microscopy(SEm),Raman spectroscopy,and fluorescence analysis(PL)were used to reveal the morphological and microstructural characteristics of the 2D-GO/WS2 nanohybrids with different graphene oxide:tungsten disulphide(GO:WS_(2))*** characterization demonstrated that the 2D-WS2/GO nanohybrids having a GO:WS_(2)ratio=2:1 shows the highest electrocatalytic activity towards oxidation of *** developed sensor permits the quantification of Thiram in the linear range 0.083-0.33μm with a limit of detection(LOD)of 0.02μm,which is below the legal limits for this fungicide in drinking water or foods.

Nowadays internationalization is no longer a luxury for companies and becomes a necessity in order to survive in the market and ensure its durability over *** justifies the structure of a internationalization plan(IP)for a small company(SEC),in order to modify its value curve against the competition and guarantee a sustained growth development in new *** paper presents a strategic analysis of a small construction company dedicated to the elaboration of finishes for walls,floors,and concrete architecture.A situational analysis was carried out to see what would be the most appropriate international strategy for the ***,such as:(a)SWOT(strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,threats)Analysis,(b)PEST(political,economic,social,and technological)Analysis,(c)Internal Factors Evaluation matrix(IFE),and(d)External Factors Evaluation matrix(EFE Assessment matrix),were used to identify the current standing of the *** canvas model and the competitive profile matrix were used to make the connection with the strategic position of the SEC against the desire of ***,an analysis of the external factors was carried out showing a significant growth of 4.6%in the specialized sub-sector,as well as a tense business landscape driven by the political situation between mexico and the United States.

Predatory mites of the Phytoseiidae family are considered one of the most important groups of natural enemies used in biological *** behavioral patterns of arthropods can differ greatly daily and seasonally;however,there is a lack of literature related to Phytoseiidae diel and seasonal predation *** predatory activity of three phytoseiid species (two Tetranychidae-specialists,Phytoseiuluspersimilis and Neoseiulus californicus,and one omnivore,Euseius stipulatus)that occur naturally in Spanish citrus orchards was observed under laboratory conditions in winter and *** temperature and photoperiod of the climatic chamber where the mites were reared did not change during the *** study demonstrates that phytoseiids can exhibit diel and seasonal predatory patterns when feeding on Tetranychus urticae (Acari:Tetranychidae).Neoseiulus californicus was revealed to be a nocturnal predator in summer but diurnal in *** contrast,*** activity was maximal during the daytime,and *** showed no clear daily predation *** predatory patterns described in this study should be taken into account when designing laboratory studies and also in field samplings,especially when applying molecular techniques to unveil trophic relationships.

Plant peroxisomes at the crossroad of NO and H2O2 metabolism

Plant peroxisomes are subcellular compartments involved in many biochemical pathways during the life cycle of a plant but also in the mechanism of response against adverse environmental *** organelles have an active nitro-oxidative metabolism under physiological conditions but this could be exacerbated under stress ***,peroxisomes have the capacity to proliferateand also undergo biochemical adaptations depending on the surrounding cellular *** important characteristic of peroxisomes is that they have a dynamic metabolism of reactive nitrogen and oxygen species(RNS and ROS)which generates two key molecules,nitric oxide(NO)and hydrogen peroxide(H2O2).These molecules can exert signaling functions by means of post-translational modifications that affect the functionality of target molecules like proteins,peptides or fatty *** review provides an overview of the endogenous metabolism of ROS and RNS in peroxisomes with special emphasis on polyamine and uric acid metabolism as well as the possibility that these organelles could be a source of signal molecules involved in the functional interconnection with other subcellular compartments.
