Effects of concentration, distance, and application methods of Altriset （Chlorantraniliprole） on eastern subterranean termite （Isoptera： Rhinotermitidae）

The effects of various concentrations, distance, and application methods of Altriset （Chlorantraniliprole） were investigated against one of the most destructive termites, the eastem subterranean termite, Reticulitermesflavipes Kollar. Three laboratory experiments were conducted. First, we examined the concentration effect of treating the soil contiguously to established foraging tunnels at a fixed 1 m distance. The results demonstrated 100% termite control in 19 d posttreatment at 100 and 50μg/g and 27% termite mortality at 25μg/g. Second, we tested the distance effect of the soil treatment （2 and 4 m） on the efficacy of Altriset to the satellite termite populations at a fixed 50/zg/g concentration. This resulted in 100% termite control in 22 d posttreatment at both 2 and 4 m. Third, we examined the effect of differing application methods using 12.5 and 25μg/g prior to the establishment of foraging tunnels at a fixed 1 m distance. This illustrated 100% termite control in 9 d posttreatment at 25μg/g and 12 d posttreatment at 12.5μg/g. The third experiment demonstrated soil treatments that were applied prior to termite tunnel establishment had greater efficacy than applications made post tunnel construction. Our results provide a comprehensive understanding about the efficacy of Altriset treatments on eastern subterranean termites.

Four new ruthenium phthalocyanine complexes bearing axial ligands with thioacetate groups that facilitate thin fi lm formation on gold surfaces are *** tunnelling microscopy(STm)images and surface coverage data obtained by solution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-mS)experiments show that peripheral and axial ligand substituents on the complexes have a signifi cant effect on their surface coverage.A laser ablation ICP-mS technique that provides information about thin films across macro-sized areas is described here for the fi rst *** the technique,the maximum surface coverage of a ruthenium phthalocyanine complex was found to occur within one minute of gold substrate immersion in the complex-containing solution.

Background: Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome(PRRS) is one of the most infectious swine diseases in the world, resulting in over 600 million dollars of economic loss in the USA alone. more recently, the USA swine industry has been having additional major economic losses due to the spread of porcine epidemic diarrhea(PED).However, information regarding the amount of genetic variation for response to diseases in reproductive sows is still very limited. The objectives of this study were to identify periods of infection with of PRRS virus(PRRSV) and/or PED virus(PEDV), and to estimate the impact their impact on the phenotypic and genetic reproductive performance of commercial ***: Disease(PRRS or PED) was significant(P mates for traits during Clean(without any disease), PRRS, and PED ranged from 0.01(number of mummies;Clean and PED) to 0.41(abortion;PED). Genetic correlations between traits within disease statuses ranged from-0.99(proportion born dead with number weaned;PRRS) to 0.99(number born dead with born alive;Clean). Within trait, between disease statuses, estimates ranged from-0.17(number weaned between PRRS and PED) to 0.99(abortion between Clean and PRRS).Conclusion: Results indicate that selection for improved performance during PRRS and PED in commercial sows is possible and would not negatively impact performance in Clean environments.

AIm: To investigate the efficacy of exercise interventions on hepatic fat mobilization in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) ***: Ovid-medline, Pub med, EmBASE and Cochrane database were searched for randomized trials and prospective cohort studies in adults aged ≥ 18 which investigated the effects of at least 8 wk of exercise only or combination with diet on NAFLD from 2010 to 2016. The search terms used to identify articles, in which exercise was clearly described by type, duration, intensity and frequency were: "NASH", "NAFLD", "nonalcoholic steatohepatitis", "non-alcoholic fatty liver disease", "fat", "steatosis", "diet", "exercise", "mR spectroscopy" and "liver biopsy". NAFLD diagnosis, as well as the outcome measures, was confirmed by either hydrogen-magnetic resonance spectroscopy(H-mRS) or biopsy. Trials that included dietary interventions along with exercise were accepted if they met all criteria. RESULTS: Eight studies met selection criteria(6 with exercise only, 2 with diet and exercise with a total of 433 adult participants). Training interventions ranged between 8 and 48 wk in duration with a prescribed exercise frequency of 3 to 7 d per week, at intensities between 45% and 75% of VO2 peak. The most commonly used imaging modality was H-mRS and one study utilized biopsy. The effect of intervention on fat mobilization was 30.2% in the exercise only group and 49.8% in diet and exercise group. There was no difference between aerobic and resistance exercise intervention, although only one study compared thetwo interventions. The beneficial effects of exercise on intrahepatic triglyceride(IHTG) were seen even in the absence of significant weight loss. AIm: To study ocular axial lengths in pediatric subjects without intraocular pathology. mETHODS: An Institutional Review Board-approved consecutive retrospective chart review of axial lengths measured in pediatric subjects who underwent examination under anesthesia due to positive family history of retinoblastoma or other inherited ocular disease. Only subjects without any intraocular pathology in either eye were included. Subjects were stratified into age groups. An axial length model using a logarithmic regression algorithm was ***: Data from 330 eyes of 165 subjects were included in the study. The mean age at the time of examination was 30.62(SD 18.04)mo. The steepest increase in axial length was present during the first 10 mo of life. After 36 mo, there was no statistically significant axial length growth. CONCLUSION: This study presents the biggest series of pediatric axial lengths in healthy eyes. The axial length model developed with these data may assist in the diagnosis and management of a wide variety of pediatric ophthalmic diseases.

Tomato spotted wilt(TSW)is a serious virus disease of peanut in the United *** for TSWV resistance would be facilitated by the implementation of marker-assisted selection in breeding programs;however,genes associated with resistance have not been *** mapping is a type of genetic mapping that can exploit relationships between markers and traits in many *** objectives of this study were to examine genetic diversity and population structure in the *** mini-core collection using simple sequence repeat(SSR)markers,and to conduct association mapping between SSR markers and TSWV resistance in cultivated *** hundred and thirty-three SSR markers were used for genotyping 104 *** subpopulations,generally corresponding to botanical varieties,were classified by population structure *** mapping analysis indicated that five markers:pP GPseq5D5,Gm1135,Gm1991,TC23C08,and TC24C06,were consistently associated with TSW resistance by the Q,PCA,Q+K,and PCA+K *** markers together explained 36.4%of the phenotypic ***,pP GPseq5D5 and Gm1991 were associated with both visual symptoms of TSWV and ELISA values with a high R^*** potential of these markers for use in a marker-assisted selection program to breed peanut for resistance to TSWV is discussed.
