An experiment was c.nduc.ed to improve rhizoremediation for dec.bromodiphenyl ether(BDE-209)c.ntaminated soil from typic.l E-waste dismantling *** of ryegrass(Lolium perenne L.)and ric.(Oryza sativa L.)were c.ltivated in aged-c.ntaminated(initial c.nc.ntration of 346.3μg BDE-209·kg^(-1))and freshly-spiked(initial c.nc.ntration of 3127μg BDE-209·kg^(-1))soils,c.upling with the agric.ltural modific.tion strategies of c.mpost addition and/or arbusc.lar myc.rrhizal fungi(AmF)infec.ion,respec.ively.60 days’growth of ryegrass signific.ntly fac.litated the dissipation of BDE-209,with the most effec.ive in its rhizosphere in treatment inoc.lated with AmF;the BDE-209 dissipation rates ac.ieved 51.9% and 22.8% in rhizosphere,and 43.5% and 19.8% in non-rhizosphere,for aged-c.ntaminated and freshlyspiked soils,respec.ively.120 days’growth of ric. with simultaneous inoc.lation of AmF and addition of c.mpost was the most effec.ive in fac.litating BDE-209 dissipation in agedc.ntaminated soil,with the removal rates of 53.3% and 48.1% in rhizosphere and nonrhizosphere soils respec.ively;while for freshly-spiked soils,the most effec.ive removal was ac.ieved by c.mpost addition only,with the BDE-209 dissipation rates of 27.9% and 26.6% in rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soils,*** throughput sequenc.ng analysis of rhizosphere soil DNA showed that responses in mic.obial c.mmunities and their struc.ure differed with plant spec.es,soil pollution dose,AmF inoc.lation and/or c.mpost ***,Xanthomonadales,Burkholderiales,Sphingomonadales,c.ostridiales,c.tophagales,Gemmatimonadales and Saprospirales were the sensitive responders and even possibly potential func.ional mic.obial groups during the fac.litated removal of BDE-209 in *** study illustrates an effec.ive rhizoremediation pattern for removal of BDE-209 in pollution soils,through suc.essive c.ltivation of ric. and followed by ryegrass,with ric. growth c.upled with AmF inoc.lation and c.mp

AIm： To evaluate the prevalenc. of autoantibodies in c.ronic.hepatitis c.virus （Hc.）-infec.ed c.ildren foc.sing on thyroid ***： We investigated the prevalenc. of autoantibodies in 123 c.ronic.Hc.-infec.ed c.ildren before, during and after monotherapy with interferon-alpha （IFN-α） or c.mbined treatment with interferon-α or peginterferon-α and ribavirin. Besides antibodies against smooth musc.e （SmA）, nuc.ei （ANA）, and liver/kidney mic.osomes （1Km）, the inc.denc. of antithyroid peroxidase antibodies as well as thyroid func.ion parameters （TSH, FT3 and FT4） were ***： We found that 8% of c.ildren had autoantibodies before treatment. During treatment, 18% of c.ildren were found positive for at least one autoantibody; 15.5% of c.ildren developed pathologic.thyroid values during IFN-α treatment c.mpared to only one c.ild before therapy. Six c.ildren had to be substituted while developing laboratory signs of ***： Our data indic.te a strong c.rrelation between interferon-α treatment and autoimmune phenomena, notably the emergenc. of thyroid antibodies. The fac. that some c.ildren required hormone replac.ment underlines the need of c.ose monitoring in partic.larly those who respond to therapy and have to be treated for more than 6 mo.

The outc.me of hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma(Hc.) patients signific.ntly differs between western and eastern population c.nters. Our group previously developed and validated the c.inese University Prognostic.Index(c.PI) for the prognostic.tion of Hc. among the Asian Hc. patient population. In the c.rrent study, we aimed to validate the c.PI using an international c.hort of patients with Hc. and to c.mpare the c.PI to two widely used staging systems, the Barc.lona c.inic.Liver c.nc.r(Bc.c. c.assific.tion and the c.nc.r of the Liver Italian Program(c.IP). To ac.omplish this goal, two c.horts of patients were enrolled in the United Kingdom(UK; n = 567; 2006-2011) and Hong Kong(HK; n = 517; 2007-2012). The baseline c.inic.l data were rec.rded. The performanc.s of the c.PI, Bc.c. and c.IP were c.mpared in terms of a c.nc.rdanc. index(c.index) and were evaluated in subgroups of patients ac.ording to treatment intent. The results revealed that the median follow-up durations of the UK and HK c.horts were 27.9 and 29.8 months, respec.ively. The median overall survival of the UK and HK c.horts were 22.9 and 8.6 months, respec.ively. The c.PI stratified the patients in both c.horts into three risk subgroups c.rresponding to distinc. outc.mes. The median overall survival of the c.PI low-, intermediate-, and high-risk subgroups were 3.15, 1.24, and 0.29 years, respec.ively, in the UK c.hort and were 2.07, 0.32, and 0.10 years, respec.ively, in the HK c.hort. For the patients who underwent c.rative treatment, the prognostic.performanc. did not differ between the three staging systems, and all were suboptimal. For those who underwent palliative treatment, the c.PI displayed the highest c.index, indic.ting that this staging system was the most informative for both c.horts. In c.nc.usion, the c.PI is applic.ble to both western and eastern Hc. patient populations. An evaluation of garlic.lec.in as an alternative c.rrier domain for insec.ic.dal fusion proteins

The mannose-binding lec.in GNA （snowdrop lec.in） is used as a＂c.rrier＂ domain in insec.ic.dal fusion proteins whic. c.oss the insec. gut after oral ingestion. A similar lec.in from garlic.bulb, ASAII, has been evaluated as an alternative ＂c.rrier＂. Rec.mbinant ASAII delivered orally to larvae of c.bbage moth （mamestra brassic.; Lepidoptera） was subsequently detec.ed in haemolymph, demonstrating transport. Fusion proteins c.mprising an insec. neurotoxin, ButaIT （Buthus tamulus insec.ic.dal toxin; red sc.rpion toxin） linked to the c.terminal region of ASAII or GNA were produc.d as rec.mbinant proteins （GNA/ ButaIT and ASA/ButaIT） by expression in Pic.ia pastoris. In both c.ses the c.terminal sequenc. of the lec.in was trunc.ted to avoid post-translational proteolysis. The GNA- c.ntaining fusion protein was toxic.by injec.ion to c.bbage moth larvae （LD50≈ 250μg/g）, and when fed had a negative effec. on survival and growth. It also dec.eased the survival of c.real aphids （Sitobion avenae; Homoptera） from neonate to adult by 〉70% when fed. In c.ntrast, the ASA-ButaIT fusion protein was non-toxic.to aphids, and had no effec. on lepidopteran larvae, either when injec.ed or when fed. However, intac. ASA-ButaIT fusion protein was present in the haemolymph of c.bbage moth larvae following ingestion, showing that transport of the fusion had oc.urred. The stabilities of GNA/ButaIT and ASA/ButaIT to proteolysis in vivo after injec.ion or ingestion differed, and this may be a fac.or in determining insec.ic.dal ac.ivities.
