Chaos game representation of functional protein sequences,and simulation and multifractal analysis of induced measures

Investigating the biological function of proteins is a key aspect of protein studies. Bioinformatic methods become important for studying the biological function of proteins. In this paper, we first give the chaos game representation （CGR） of randomly-linked functional protein sequences, then propose the use of the recurrent iterated function systems （RIFS） in fractal theory to simulate the measure based on their chaos game representations. This method helps to extract some features of functional protein sequences, and furthermore the biological functions of these proteins. Then multifractal analysis of the measures based on the CGRs of randomly-linked functional protein sequences are performed. We find that the CGRs have clear fractal patterns. The numerical results show that the RIFS can simulate the measure based on the CGR very well. The relative standard error and the estimated probability matrix in the RIFS do not depend on the order to link the functional protein sequences. The estimated probability matrices in the RIFS with different biological functions are evidently different. Hence the estimated probability matrices in the RIFS can be used to characterise the difference among linked functional protein sequences with different biological functions. From the values of the Dq curves, one sees that these functional protein sequences are not completely random. The Dq of all linked functional proteins studied are multifractal-like and sufficiently smooth for the Cq （analogous to specific heat） curves to be meaningful. Furthermore, the Dq curves of the measure μ based on their CCRs for different orders to link the functional protein sequences are almost identical if q 〉 0. Finally, the ca curves of all linked functional proteins resemble a classical phase transition at a critical point.

Chemical properties during different development stages of fruit orchards in the mekong delta (Vietnam)

This study to examine soil fertility status was conducted on 10 citrus plantations in Hau Giang province within the Vietnamese mekong Delta, Vietnam. Fruit trees are mostly grown on the raised beds to avoid annual flood with alluvial soil type. Soil sampling was done in the dry season of 2010 at two soil depths, for each raised bed. Development ages of raised beds were represented by two groups, young age group (≤ 30 years) and old age group (> 30 years). For chemical analysis, pH, organic matter, CEC, total nitrogen, nH4+, nO3– and exchangeable ca, mg and K were determined. The results showed that the pH (water) was strongly acid. The CEC was in average 19.2 cmol+.kg–1 in topsoil (0 - 20 cm depth) and 18.7 cmol+.kg–1 in subsoil (20 - 50 cm depth) for young age group. Similarly, the CEC was 16.7 cmol+.kg–1 in topsoil and 15.8 cmol+.kg–1 in subsoil for old age group. Organic matter on young age group (7.38 and 5.47% on average for topsoil and subsoil respectively) was significantly higher than that of old age group (5.20 and 3.81% on average for topsoil and subsoil respectively). Total nitrogen was not significantly different between the sites for the age groups of raised as well as the soil layers. Ammonium-n levels were excessive, and nO3--n levels were high. Potassium and mg2+ were significantly different between age groups of raised beds and the same pattern between soil layers, while ca2+ did not vary significantly. Potassium and ca2+ levels were moderate, mg2+ was high and P levels were very high. Soil fertility in the raised beds subjected to an adverse on plant growth and an imbalance in soil nutrients under low pH conditions. Loss of soil quality was exhibited in reduced organic matter with the aging of raised beds.

Finite Element modeling in Analyzing Physical Properties of the Pb-Free Piezoelectric materials

new giant piezoelectric factor materials such as PZT, PZn-PZT, Pmn-PT and PZn-PT etc. were researched during the last decade and are actually becoming commercially available. However, there is an urgent demand for high performance Pb-free piezoelectric to substitute for the current workhorse, the PZT family. Recently, many Pb-free systems have been reported that shows equally as excellent piezoelectricity as materials in PZT family at room temperature. In this present study, it uses the Finite Element modeling (FEm method) with the simulation program to compare the physic properties of piezoceramics in PZT family and Pb-free piezoceramic Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3-50(Ba0.7ca0.3)TiO3 (BZT-50BCT) and show the advantage properties of BZT-50BCT. Furthermore, the results will be a premise of using the simulation method in researching the properties of new piezoelectric materials to shorten time as well as save money and time.

Knowledge and attitude of rural dwellers to the use of traditional eye medication

Objective:To determine the knowledge,attitude and practice of rural dwellers to the use of traditional eye medications(TEm).methods: A cross-sectional,descriptive study using a reseacher administered structured questionnaire was carried out in Iviari community in Etsako-East Local Government Area(LGA) of Edo State,nigeria.A systematic sampling method was *** hundred and thirty six(336) people aged 15years and above(range 15-90years) comprised the *** data was analysed using microsoft excel spreadsheet and the Statistical Package for Social Scientists(SPSS).Results: Fifty one(51,49.5%) out of 103 people with eye disease or a past history of eye disease used *** was no association between the sex,level of education,occupation of participants and the use of *** was a significant association between African traditional religion and the use of TEm(P= 0.0266).Thirty eight(38,36.9%) people were treated by medical doctors and *** people(13.6%) had used TEm before seeking orthodox medical *** most common source of TEm was self or friends and relations(38.9%).Traditional healers or herbalists were the source in 12 people(11.7%).One hundred and ten(32.7%) respondents knew some form of traditional eye medication and the commonest was herbal extract(66,60%),others were native powder,sugar solution,urine,breast milk,alum and *** hundred(29.7%) people said that the use of TEm was beneficial,187(55.7%) said there was no benefit while 49(14.6%) did not ***: The knowledge and use of TEm in this community is *** is a need to make eye care accessible and affordable to the *** education and public enlightenment campaigns of people in this community and rural dwellers in nigeria about the harmful effects of TEm should be *** establishments of outreach centres in rural areas by ophthalmology departments in secondary and tertiary hospitals will help in providing affordable and accessible eye ca

Investigation the Dimensional Ratio Effect on the Resonant Properties of Piezoelectric Ceramic Disk

In this work, the vibration characteristics of a piezoelectric ceramic disk with different dimensional ratio are studied by simulation method. Computational finite element modeling combined with the computational programs has allowed for the prediction of the effect, the change of diameter-to-thickness ratio on the resonant characteristics, the vibration modes as well as comparing the physic properties of piezoceramics. Three types of piezoelectric materials were chosen, piezoelectric materials (PZT) and Pb-free piezoelectric materials Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3-50(Ba0.7ca0.3)TiO3(BZT-50BCT), BaTiO3 for research.

mobilization of Arsenic in Groundwater in the Southern Hanoi City (Vietnam) as Studied by Isotopic and Related Techniques

Sixteen samples of surface and groundwater from the most southern part of the Hanoi city (Vietnam) has been taken and analyzed for the soluble major ions, namely na+, K+, , ca2+, mg2+, Cl-, , and arsenic as well as molybdenum content along with isotopic composition of deuterium and oxygen (δ2H and δ18O), tritium activity, and δ13C in DIC. The stable isotopic composition of groundwater indicates the water in that area is recharged from the local meteoric and theRed River’s water sources. The mean residence time of the groundwater should be before 60-ies of the past century as its 3H activity ranged from LOD of the analytical technique (0.4 TU) to 2.1 TU only implying that As would not be related to its recent application. The concentrations of As in the water samples is weakly correlated with those of Fe2+ (R2 = 0.08) but it strongly did with the concentrations of bicarbonate (R2 = 0.80). Thus, bicarbonate seems to liberate As adsorbed on hydrous ferric oxides (Hfo) into water through the displacement mechanism. The surface adsorption-desorption of As could be proven by a strong correlation between As and mo concentrations (R2 = 0.77). The bicarbonate formation in groundwater was thought to be, partly, due to the bio-mineralization of natural organic matter (nOm) by bacteria followed by the dissolution of calcite and/or dolomite present in the sediments. Evidence for the nOm bio-mineralization was found in the close relationship between δ13C and the concentration of bicarbonate in water. Therefore, the mobilization of As in groundwater of bicarbonate type in the southern part of Hanoi city seems to be not only due to the reductive dissolution of the Hfo but the bicarbonate displacement also should be considered.

研究脑反复缺血再灌流羟自由基活性动态变化，探讨脑缺血损伤的病理生理机制。方法采用Ｐｕｌｓｉｎｅｌｌｉ和Ｂｒｉｅｆｌｅｙ４血管关闭方法，５ｍｉｎ×３次缺血，用微透析针植人右侧海马ＣＡ１区，用水杨酸盐捕获生成稳定的加合物２，３和２，５二氧苯甲酸（２，３和２，５ＤＨＢＡ）。用高压液相（ＨＰＬＣ）电化学检测。结果腹腔内注射水杨酸盐和微管透析针内注射水杨酸盐，２，３和２，５ＤＨＢＡ出现相似变化。缺血期２，３和２，５ＤＨＢＡ稍降低，灌流２０ｍｉｎ显著增高，灌流１ｈ升高至顶峰，持续３ｈ。证明脑反复缺血后再灌流羟自由基显著增高，并且不是一个暂时的现象。结论自由基在脑缺血损害中起重要作用。
