Background:Pain associated with cancer is one of the greatest causes of reduced quality of life in *** is one of the treatments used to address this issue,with the great advantage of having little or no side effects,especially when compared with pharmacological ***:The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the current evidence regarding the efficacy of acupuncture for cancer *** strategy:Six electronic databases(Pubmed,EBSCO,Cochrane Library,Scielo,b-On and Scopus)were searched for relevant articles about pain relief in cancer patients from their beginning until 2022using meSH terms such as“acupuncture,”“electroacupuncture,”“ear acupuncture,”“acupuncture analgesia,”“oncological pain,”and“cancer pain.”Inclusion criteria:Studies included were randomized controlled trials(RCTs)where acupuncture was compared with no treatment,placebo acupuncture or usual *** extraction and analysis:Three independent reviewers participated in data extraction and evaluation of risk of bias,and a meta-analysis was *** primary outcome was pain intensity,measured with the visual analog scale,numeric rating scale,or brief pain *** outcomes also assessed were quality of life,functionality,xerostomia,pain interference,and analgesic *** were expressed as standardized mean difference(SmD)with 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:Sixteen RCTs with a total of 1124 participants were included in the meta-analysis,with the majority of the studies presenting a low or unclear risk of *** was more effective in reducing pain than no treatment(SmD=–0.90,95%CI[–1.68,–0.12]),sham acupuncture(SmD=–1.10,95%CI[–1.59,–0.61])or usual care(SmD=–1.16,95%CI[–1.38,–0.93]).Conclusion:The results of this study suggest that acupuncture may be an effective intervention to reduce pain associated with *** some limitations due to the low quality and small sample size of some included st

Background:Given the pervasive issues of obesity and diabetes both in Puerto Rico and the broader United States,there is a compelling need to investigate the intricate interplay among body mass index(BmI),pregesta-tional,and gestational maternal diabetes,and their potential impact on the occurrence of congenital heart defects(CHD)during neonatal ***:Using the comprehensive System of Vigilance and Surveillance of Congenital Defects in Puerto Rico,we conducted a focused analysis on neonates diagnosed with CHD between 2016 and *** assessment encompassed a range of variables,including maternal age,gestational age,BmI,pregestational diabetes,gestational diabetes,hypertension,history of abortion,and presence of ***:A cohort of 673 patients was included in our *** average maternal age was 26 years,within a range of 22 to 32 *** mean gestational age measured 39 weeks,with a median span of 38 to 39 *** the 673 patients,274(41%)mothers gave birth to neonates diagnosed with *** this group,22 cases were linked to pre-gestational diabetes,while 202 were not;20 instances were associated with gestational diabetes,compared to 200 without;and 148 cases exhibited an overweight or obese BmI,whereas 126 displayed a normal ***:We identiﬁed a statistically signiﬁcant correlation between pre-gestational diabetes mellitus and the occurrence of ***,our analysis did not show a statistically signiﬁcant association between maternal BmI and the likelihood of *** results may aid in developing effective strategies to prevent and manage CHD in neonates.

Background Stone pine(Pinus pinea), a drought-resistant species, has significant socio-economic benefits and increasing interest for the establishment of productive plantations in several countries, especially in a climate change context. monitoring hourly stem diameter variations contributes to the understanding of the tree-growth response to changes in environmental conditions and management. By monitoring the diameter expansion of tree stems, high-resolution band dendrometers were used to study the development of adult trees growing in a semi-arid coastal environment of central Chile under fertilized and non-fertilized soil conditions through the span of a *** Short cycles( 28 h) occurred at a higher frequency in fertilized trees(16 vs 6). most of the circadian cycles were regular(24 ± 3 h). The longest cycle duration(59 h) was observed in fertilized trees during spring. In all seasons, each phase of the circadian cycle, especially during the stem diameter increment phase(P3, irreversible growth), started earlier in fertilized than in control trees. P3 duration was significantly longer in fertilized than in control trees in springtime. The maximum shrinkage(P1) was observed in summer for both treatments. Stem diameter increased faster in fer-tilized than in control trees throughout the year, with the highest accumulation occurring in spring and the lowest in autumn. The daily variability pattern showed lower growth under high temperature across *** This study highlights the importance of fertilization in enhancing stone pine diameter growth. This cultural practice should be further explored to contribute to the mitigation of climate change effects in semi-arid environments.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of enzymes in purifying and reducing the degree of polymerization of cellulose for the production of dissolving *** goal was to determine the contributions of xylanase(X)and endoglucanase(EG)in the treatment of pulp,specifically by quantifying the formation of soluble and insoluble reducing sugars using the dinitrosalycilic acid(DNS)***,the release of soluble reducing sugars(RSSol)was enhanced after xylanase treatment,while endoglucanase(EG)treatment led to changes in insoluble reducing sugars(RSIns).The maximum synergism was observed for RSIns when a high ratio of endoglucanase to xylanase(320EG:5X/g pulp)was *** relative contribution of endoglucanase to RSins was determined to be 15.6%of the total reducing *** viscosity of pulps treated with xylanase decreased only by 7%,whereas endoglucanase treatment significantly reduced viscosity by 45%.modifications in the particle size were observed after pulp treatment with the combination of endoglucanase and *** summary,the DNS test is a rapid and effective method for evaluating the efficiency of enzyme treatments on *** measurement of RSIns correlates with changes in pulp viscosity to different extents,providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of enzyme treatments.

This paper proposes an adaptive method based on fuzzy logic that utilizes data from phasor measurement units(PmUs) to assess and classify generating-side voltage trajectories. The voltage variable and its associated derivatives are used as the input variables of a fuzzy-logic block. In addition, the voltage trajectory is compared with the pre-selected pilot-bus voltage to make a reliable decision about the voltage operational state. Different types of short-term voltage dynamics are considered in the proposed method. The fuzzy membership functions are determined using a systematic method that considers the current situation of the voltage trajectory. Finally, the voltage status is categorized into four classes to determine appropriate remedial actions. The proposed method is validated on a IEEE 73-bus power system in a mATLAB environment.

Purpose:Recently,global science has shown an increasing open trend,however,the characteristics of research integrity of open access(OA)publications have rarely been *** aim of this study is to compare the characteristics of retracted articles across different OA levels and discover whether OA level influences the characteristics of retracted ***/methodology/approach:The research conducted an analysis of 6,005 retracted publications between 2001 and 2020 from the Web of Science and Retraction Watch *** publications were categorized based on their OA levels,including Gold OA,Green OA,and *** study explored retraction rates,time lags and reasons within these ***:The findings of this research revealed distinct patterns in retraction rates among different OA *** with Gold OA demonstrated the highest retraction rate,followed by Green OA and non-OA.A comparison of retraction reasons between Gold OA and non-OA categories indicated similar proportions,while Green OA exhibited a higher proportion due to falsification and manipulation issues,along with a lower occurrence of plagiarism and authorship *** retraction time lag was shortest for Gold OA,followed by non-OA,and longest for Green *** prolonged retraction time for Green OA could be attributed to an atypical distribution of retraction reasons.A comparative study on characteristics of retracted publications across different open access levels Research limitations:There is no exploration of a wider range of OA levels,such as Hybrid OA and Bronze *** implications:The outcomes of this study suggest the need for increased attention to research integrity within the OA *** occurrences offalsification,manipulation,and ethical concerns within Green OA publications warrant attention from the scientific ***/value:This study contributes to the understanding of research integrity in the realm of OA publications,she

Traditional vibration isolation structures cannot work effectively for low-frequency vibration under heavy loads,due to the inherent contradiction between the high-static and lowdynamic stiffness of these *** the challenge can be effectively addressed by introducing a negative stiffness mechanism,the existing structures inevitably have complex ***,a class of man-made structures with both extraordinary mechanical properties and simple configurations,provide a new insight for low-frequency vibration isolation *** this paper,circular metastructure isolators consisting of some simple beams are designed for low-frequency vibration,including a single-layer isolator and a double-layer isolator,and their static and dynamic characteristics are studied,*** the static characteristic,the force–displacement and stiffness–displacement curves are obtained by finite element simulation;for the dynamic characteristic,the vibration transmissibility curves are obtained analytically and *** result shows that the circular nonlinear single-layer isolator has excellent lowfrequency isolation performance,and the isolation frequency band will decrease about 20 Hz when the isolated mass is fixed at 1.535 kg,compared with a similar circular linear *** static and dynamic properties are well verified through *** work provides an innovative approach for the low-frequency vibration isolation and has wide potential applications in aeronautics.

Hematite(α-Fe_(2)O_(3))is known to undergo conversion from weak ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic as the temperature decreases below the morin temperature(Tm=250 K)due to spin moment rotation occurring during the morin transition(mT).Herein,we endowed hematite with mesostructured chirality to maintain weak ferromagnetism without *** mesostructured hematite(CmH)nanoparticles were prepared by a hydrothermal method with glutamic acid(Glu)as the symmetry-breaking *** triangular bipyramidal CmH nanoparticles were composed of helically cleaved nanoflakes with twisted crystal ***-cooled(FC)magnetization measurements showed that the magnetic moments of CmH were stabilized without mT within the temperature range of 10–300 *** loop measurements confirmed the weak ferromagnetism of *** enhanced Dzyaloshinskii–moriya interaction(DmI)was speculated to be responsible for the temperature-independent weak ferromagnetism,in which the spin configuration would be confined with canted antiferromagnetic coupling due to the mesostructured chirality of CmH.
