A Game Comparative Study:Object-Oriented Paradigm and Notification-Oriented Paradigm

This paper presents a new programming paradigm named Notification-Oriented Paradigm (NOP) and analyses the performance aspects of NOP programs by means of an experiment. NOP provides a new manner to conceive, structure, and execute software, which would allow better performance, causal-knowledge organization, and decoupling than standard solutions based upon usual paradigms. These paradigms are essentially Imperative Paradigm (IP) and Declarative Paradigm (DP). In short, DP solutions are considered easier to use than IP solutions due to the concept of high-level programming. However, they are considered slower in execution and less flexible in development. Anyway, both paradigms present similar drawbacks such as redundant causal-evaluation and strongly coupled entities, which decrease the software performance and the processing distribution feasibility. These problems exist due to an orientation to a monolithic inference mechanism based upon sequential evaluation by searching on passive computational entities. NOP proposes another way to structure software and make its inferences, which is based upon small, collaborative, and decoupled computational entities whose interaction happens through precise notifications. In this context, this paper presents a quantitative comparison between two equivalent implementations of a computer game simulator (Pacman simulator), one developed according to the principles of Object-Oriented Paradigm (OOP/IP) in C++ and other developed according to the principles of NOP. The results obtained from the experiments demonstrate, however, a quite lower performance of NOP implementation. This happened because NOP applications are still developed using a framework based on C++. Besides, the paper shows that optimizations in the NOP framework improve NOP program performance, thereby evidencing the necessity of developing a NOP language/compiler.

The results showed that NOP implementation obtained quite equivalent results with respect to OOP implementation. This happened because the NOP framework uses considerable expensive data-structures over C++. Thus, it is necessary a new compiler to NOP in order to actually use its potentiality.

Calculation of Dose in Healthy Organs,during Radiotherapy 4-Field Box 3D Conformal for Prostate Cancer,Simulation of the Linac 2300,Radiotherapy Room and mAX Phantom

In men, prostate cancer is one of the most frequent types, and radiotherapy is adopted as a form of treatment. Although there are efforts to minimize the dose in the healthy organ and tissues adjacent to the tumor during radiotherapy, these organs are affected by the secondary scattered and leakage radiation originating from the therapeutic beam and these doses deposited in the healthy organs, can induce the appearance of new focal points of cancer. The aim of this study is to calculate the equivalent and effective doses, due to photons and neutrons, in healthy organs of a patient submitted to radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer. Computed simulation of radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer was used to perform the dose calculations, adopting the treatment protocol used at INCA (Brazilian National Cancer Institute). The mCNPX code was employed in the simulation radiation transport while the male voxel mAX phantom was used to represent the patient's human anatomy. The results obtained in this study indicate that the organs close to the irradiated region are predominantly affected by the dose due to photons, with an impact on organs from different systems of the body, such as the bladder, colon, and testicles, besides bone structures such as the femur, pelvis and spinal column. The results obtained from the doses deposited due to neutrons suggest that tibia and fibula, mandible, cranium, brain and thyroid, had the highest dose deposited due to neutrons in relation to photons. The result obtained from the effective dose was 31.47 mSv due to photons, while the dose due to neutrons was 0.42 mSv. Note that the effective dose due to photons is significantly higher than the effective dose due to neutrons. The values calculated in this study were compared with the experimental values obtained in the literature, presenting reasonable concordance. Additionally, as described in the literature, it was verified that the dose due to photons decreases considerably with the increase in the distance of the target organ,

A new species of Atelopus(Amphibia:Bufonidae)from eastern Panama

A new species of the genus Atelopus,Atelopus fronterizo sp.nov.,from eastern Panama is described herein based on molecular,morphological,and bioacoustic evidence.The new species can be distinguished from its congeners occurring in the region by a combination of the following characters:(1)phalangeal reduction in thumb;(2)SvL(females only)(35.1-50.1;n=13),HW/SvL(0.23-0.34;n=59),EYND/HW(0.27-0.39;n=60),TIBL/SvL(0.41-0.56;n=58),and HAL/SvL(0.22-0.28;n=49);(3)dorsal color pattern with green or yellow background and extensive dark olive blotches forming transversal bands or mottling;(4)advertisement call duration 176-235 ms with 19-34 pulses,average pulse rate 131.69 pulses/s,and dominant frequency 2422.50-2606.50 Hz.The new species is nested within the Central American clade of Atelopus.The minimum Kimura‐2‐parameter(K2P)genetic divergence between Atelopus fronterizo sp.***.and its most phylogenetically similar congeners(A.certus and A.glyphus)is>2.6%for 16S and>4.9%for COI(Table 1).The phylogenetic relationship is strongly supported by ultrafast bootstrap values for the maximum-likelihood trees of both genetic markers(16S,96;COI,100,Figure 1A).Bayesian analysis of the concatenated sequences resulted in a tree with similar topology and high posterior probability support(0.99;Supplementary Figure S1).In addition,haplotype networks inferred from COI and 16S(Supplementary Figure S2)showed a well-separated clade containing the new species(two for COI,four for 16S).

为探究灿烂弧菌对厚壳贻贝免疫指标和消化酶活性的影响,用1×10;、1×10;、1×10;个/mL 3个浓度的灿烂弧菌刺激厚壳贻贝,探讨弧菌刺激后厚壳贻贝的一氧化氮合酶（NOS）、一氧化氮（NO）、超氧化物歧化酶（SOD）、丙二醛（mAD）等免疫指标和淀粉酶、蛋白酶等消化酶的变化情况。结果显示,灿烂弧菌刺激48 h后,厚壳贻贝足、鳃、消化腺等组织中仅消化腺的NOS活性较对照组有显著升高,且酶活性随初始细菌浓度的升高而升高,故选用消化腺来测定灿烂弧菌刺激后72 h内的免疫指标和消化酶活性的变化。灿烂弧菌刺激后,48 h内NOS活性较对照组均显著升高。NO含量较对照组均显著升高,与NOS显现相同变化趋势。SOD活性在各浓度灿烂弧菌刺激下较对照组均显著升高,而mAD含量在实验组中含量显著低于对照组。淀粉酶活性在实验组中显著低于对照组,总体呈现先下降后升高的趋势。蛋白酶活性在各实验组中均呈现先升高后下降的趋势。研究表明,灿烂弧菌对厚壳贻贝免疫指标和蛋白酶活性的升高有诱导作用,但对蛋白酶的活性有抑制作用。本研究初步探明了厚壳贻贝对灿烂弧菌的免疫应答机制,为进一步研究灿烂弧菌和厚壳贻贝相互作用机制以及厚壳贻贝免疫机制奠定了基础。

The role of rhizobacteria in rice plants: Growth and mitigation of toxicity

Allelopathic compounds reduce the growth and productivity of upland rice plants, especially in consecutive plantations. The rhizobacteria Pseudomonas fluorescens BRm-32111 and Burkholderia pyrrocinia BRm-32113 have been recorded as growth promoters in rice. This study was developed to understand the effect of the application of rhizobacteria on upland rice plants in consecutive plantations. Experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design with four replications of four treatments: rice seed inoculated with P. fluorescens BRm-32111, rice seed inoculated with B. pyrrocinia BRm-32113(both sown on soil with rice residue), non-inoculated plants sown on soil with rice residue(control with residue(WR)), and non-inoculated plants on soil with no residue(NR). Roots and seedling growth were adversely affected by allelopathic compounds in control WR plants. Plants inoculated with rhizobacteria P. fluorescens BRm-32111 or B. pyrrocinia BRm-32113 induced an increase of 88% in biomass, 3% in the leaf area, 40% in length, 67% in root biomass, 21% in chlorophyll a, 53% in chlorophyll(a+b), 50% in rate of carbon assimilation(A), 227% in A/rubisco carboxylation efficiency(Ci) and 63% in water use efficiency(WUE) compared to control WR plants. These results indicate that rhizobacteria P. fluorescens BRm-32111 and B. pyrrocinia BRm-32113 increase the tolerance of rice plants to stress from allelochemicals. There are possible practical agricultural applications of these results for mitigating the effects of environmental allelochemistry on upland rice.

试验旨在探索斯普拉-道来(SD)大鼠高脂饲粮(HF)中添加西番莲果皮粉(PEPF)对大鼠下丘脑m RNA表达、胰岛素敏感性和其他代谢参数的影响。SD大鼠随机分为3组:对照组饲喂脂肪含量正常的饲粮;HF组饲喂高脂饲粮(脂肪含量35%);HFPF组饲喂添加PEPF的高脂饲粮(脂肪含量35%)。HFPF组和HF组大鼠在试验开始前进行为期4周的高脂饲喂,诱导肥胖引起代谢异常之后,HFPF组开始饲喂添加PEPF的高脂饲粮,为期6周。对照组和HF组分别保持正常的饲粮和高脂饲粮直至试验结束。试验结束后,通过糖耐量测试(GTT)和胰岛素耐量测试(ITT)评估糖耐量和胰岛素敏感性,免疫测定法检测胃肠激素和脂肪因子,实时荧光定量聚合酶链反应评估下丘脑神经肽的表达。ITT测试中,PEPF可显著增加大鼠下丘脑可卡因和安非他明调节转录肽(CART)的表达(P<0.05),极显著降低体增重(P<0.01),显著减轻肥胖症状(P<0.05)和血清瘦素水平(P<0.05);极显著增加脂联素含量(P<0.01)和葡萄糖依赖性促胰岛素多肽(P<0.01);随着葡萄糖利用率极显著增加(P<0.01),胰高血糖素样肽-1(GLP-1)极显著的改善胰岛素敏感性(P<0.01)。其他胃肠激素(酪酪肽、胰多肽和胰淀素)和白介素(IL-6、肿瘤坏死因子-α、IL-1β和单核细胞趋化蛋白-1)均无显著变化。试验结果为探究PEPF在改善血糖稳态、增强饱腹感的作用和机制方面提供了进一步的试验依据。

Seeds total use policy consists in the use of two different methodologies applied together, forming a favorable non residue environmentally favorable production cycle: The two used techniques are biodiesel from oil seed and LTC- Low Temperature Conversion methodologies. The process first step is the oilseed extraction by Soxhlet in hexane. This step produces two products: Oil, liquid part and the called tart, extraction solid residue. The oil is used to produce biodiesel by basic catalysis, transesterification reaction and the tart is used in the LTC process, technique that consists of heating residues at the temperature of 380oC-400oC under an inert atmosphere producing four different compounds: Pyrolysis oil, gas, water and pyrolytic char. This study objective is to develop a methodology which is able to use it own residue to produce alternative energy sources to its cycle working and even to obtain products that are useful in to the agricultural step, assisting the seeds cultivation phase, for example. The obtained compounds are characterized by IR, GC-mS and other parameters following the Brazilian standard regulation for biodiesel, ANP. This methodology is in accordance with the actual green chemistry, don’t generates waste, but use it to generate products of higher commercial value.
