As environmental concerns from fossil fuel consumption intensify, large-scale energy storage becomes imperative for the integration of renewable sources like wind, hydro, and solar with the electrical *** flow batteries, particularly those employing organic molecules, are positioned as a key technology for this purpose. This review explores the growing field of symmetric organic redox flow batteries(ORFBs) within this context. Unlike traditional asymmetric designs based on unique active materials for each electrode, symmetric ORFBs involve a single bipolar species for both electrodes. This review highlights the benefits of a symmetric design, and categorizes five distinct classes of organic bipolar molecules used in both aqueous and non-aqueous solvents. By providing a comprehensive overview of their cell cycling and performance characteristics, the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse categories of bipolar molecules are highlighted for both solvent systems, as are opportunities for future development. This should guide new research directions and advance the development of practical symmetric ORFBs.

In this paper we present some algorithms for minimization of Dc function (difference of two convex functions). They are descent methods of the proximal-type which use the convex properties of the two convex functions separately. We also consider an approximate proximal point algorithm. Some properties of the ε-subdifferential and the ε-directional derivative are discussed. The convergence properties of the algorithms are established in both exact and approximate forms. Finally, we give some applications to the concave programming and maximum eigenvalue problems.

The understanding of compressive and tensile behaviors of polypropylene fiber-reinforced cemented paste backfill(FR-cPB)play crucial roles in the successful implementation of reinforcement technique in underground mine backfilling ***,very limited studies have been performed to gain insight into the evolution of compressive and tensile behaviors and associated mechanical properties of FR-cPB under various curing temperatures from early to advanced ***,this study aims to investigate the time(7,28,and 90 d)-and temperature(20°c,35°c,and 45°c)-dependence of constitutive behavior and mechanical properties of *** obtained results show that pre-and post-failure behaviors of FR-cPB demonstrate strongly curing temperature-dependence from early to advanced ***,the pseudo-hardening behavior is sensitive to curing temperature,especially at early ***,the mechanical properties including elastic modulus,material stiffness,strengths,brittleness,cohesion,and internal friction angle of FR-cPB show increasing trends with curing temperature as curing time ***,a predictive model is developed to capture the strong correlation between compressive and tensile strength of *** findings of this study will contribute to the successful implementation of FR-cPB technology.

High-fat diets affect male reproduction and sexual ***,we evaluated the effects of prolonged resveratrol administration on the metabolic,sperm,and testicular parameters of rats fed a cafeteria *** Wistar rats were divided at weaning into control(cv n=20)and cafeteria(cAF,n=16)*** 3 months,half of them were given daily supplementations of resveratrol(c-R,n=10;cAF-R,n=8)at a dosage of 30 mg kg-1 body mass for 2 *** were killed at 5 months of age,and blood,spermatozoa,and testes were collected for further *** were analyzed by one-way ANOVA,and Pconsidered statistically *** cAF diet promoted hyperglycemia(Pment with resveratrol reversed this condition(PcAF diet reduced sperm viability and motility,while resveratrol improved these parameters(Fcular morphology,the height of the seminiferous epithelium was reduced in the cAF group compared with that of the c group(P=0.0007).Spermatogenic cell proliferation was also reduced in the cAF group compared with that of the c ***,the cAF-R showed an increase in cell proliferation rate compared with that of the untreated cAF group(P=0.0024).Although it did not modify body mass,the consumption of a cAF diet promoted hyperglycemia,adverse testicular morphology remodeling,and abnormal sperm,which were attenuated by treatment with resveratrol,thus suggesting a protective effect of this antioxidant on spermatogenesis.

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of chronic stress on the testes of prepubertal and adult rats and to evaluate whether any alterations could be reversed when stress induction is ended. Seventy-six male rats were assigned to eight groups depending on the type of treatment （control or stressed）, the age at which stress was initiated （prepubertal or adult）, and the time of evaluation （immediate or late）. Stress stimuli were applied for 6 weeks. Stressed prepubertal and adult rats evaluated immediately after the last stress stimulus were included in SP-I and SA-I groups, respectively. The late prepubertal （SP-L） and adult （SA-L） groups of stressed rats were evaluated 6 weeks after the last stress stimulus. Age-matched rats were used as controls （cP-I, cA-I, cP-L, and cA-L groups）. Application of stress stimuli to rats in the SP-I group resulted in body weight and seminiferous tubule diameter reduction. The rats in the SA-I group also showed several functional （testosterone level and sperm parameter） and morphological （testicular weight and seminiferous tubule diameter） reductions. The rats in the SP-L group showed increased body weight and intertubular compartment volumetric and absolute densities and reduced tubular compartment volumetric density. The rats in the SA-L group presented only reduced sperm viability. Stress stimuli promoted changes in the rats in all the study groups. The testes of the adult rats were the most affected by chronic stress. However, the stressed adult rats recovered well from the testicular alterations.

Objective:The present study investigated antiglycation and antioxidant activities of crude dry extract and saponin fraction of Tribulus *** also developed a method of microencapsulation and evaluated antiglycation and antioxidant activities of crude dry extract and saponin fraction before and after microcapsule ***:Antiglycation activity was determined by relative electrophoretic mobility(REm),free amino groups and inhibition of advanced glycation end-product(AGE)*** activity was determined by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH),ferric ion-reducing antioxidant power(FRAP),nitric oxide(NO)and thiobarbituric acid reactive species(TBARS)*** were prepared using maltodextrin as wall material and freeze-drying as encapsulation *** characterization of microcapsules was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy,and encapsulation efficiency and microcapsule release were determined by total saponins *** and antioxidant assays were performed using crude dry extract and saponin fraction of *** before and after ***:Saponin fraction showed an increase of 32.8%total ***-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis showed the presence of saponins in the obtained *** evaluation by REm demonstrated that samples before and after release presented antiglycation activity similar to bovine serum albumin treated with ***,samples inhibited AGE formation,highlighting treatment with saponin fraction after release(89.89%).Antioxidant tests demonstrated antioxidant activity of the *** dry extract before encapsulation presented the highest activities in DPPH(92.00%)and TBARS(32.49%)*** fraction before encapsulation in FRAP test(499μmol Trolox equivalent per gram of dry sample)and NO test(15.13μmol nitrite formed per gram of extract)presented the highest ***:This study presen
