Thermal barrier coating (TBC) revolutionized the industry by allowing higher operating temperatures for equipment, such as gas turbines in the aeronautical industry. However, at high temperatures, the TBC is exposed to the attack of molten silicates, known as CmAS (Calcium-magnesium-Alumino-Silicate), which are particles from the environment that infiltrate the TBC, causing delamination. In this study, samples coated with TBC by thermal spray and covered with CmAS were evaluated at temperatures of 1200˚C and 1250˚C. For each temperature, exposure times of 1 h and 5 h were used. Samples with longer exposure time had a considerable volume increase. The main contribution of this work was to demonstrate the non-wettability of the CmAS, even in the 5-h heat treatments, which prevented its infiltration in the deeper regions. The conditions to guarantee the formation of the silicate and its consequent wettability are also discussed.

Due to the high incidence of bone fractures in the population, it became necessary to produce scaffolds that are able to assist in tissue regeneration. It is necessary to find an appropriate balance between the mechanical and biological properties, in order to mimic the natural tissue, these properties are directly related to the architecture and their degree of porosity, as well as the size of their pores and their interconnectivity. In this perspective, the 3D printing stands out, where the structure is obtained layer by layer, according to a predetermined computational model which provides a greater control of architecture and scaffold geometry and overcomes, in this way, the limitations of traditional techniques of scaffolds manufacturing. In this way, the objective of this seminar is to present the state of the art of the polymer scaffolds produced by 3D printing and applied to bone tissue regeneration, highlighting the advantages and limitations of this process.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the differences in composition among six brands of conventional soybean and six genetically modified cultivars (Gm). We focused on the isoflavones profile and mineral content questioning the substantial equivalence between conventional and Gm organisms. The statement of compliance label for conventional grains was verified for the presence of genetic modified genes by real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). We did not detect the presence of the 35S promoter in commercial samples, indicating the absence of transgene insertion. For mineral analysis, we used the method of inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Isoflavones quantification was performed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results showed no statistical difference between the conventional and transgenic soybean groups concerning isoflavone content and mineral composition. The concentration of potassium, the main mineral component of soy, was the highest in conventional soybeans compared to that in Gm soy, while Gm samples presented the highest concentrations of iron.

Simulation and Optimization of Furrow Irrigation by the model SASlS： Sensibility to the Spatial and Temporal Weighted Factors

The surface irrigation systems are the most used not just in Brazil, but in the whole world mainly due to the economy of energy and its operation easiness; however, these systems present low levels of performance, usually, as a consequence of inadequate design and management. Thus, the objective of this research was to develop a tool capable to make possible the simulation and optimization of the continuous flow furrow irrigation performance, making successive simulations of the advance phase and respective prognostics of the performance parameters of the irrigation system. The proposed model is denominated SASIS, ＂Software Applied to Simulation of the Surface Irrigation＂, and had its validation tested for different field conditions. In this paper, the simulation and the optimization of the furrow irrigation by the model SASIS are evaluated regarding to the spatial （4） and temporal （0） weighted factors, which account for the nonlinear variation in the surface and subsurface flow profiles. The analysis of the sensitivity of simulation of the advance phase in the irrigation identified ranges of combinations between spatial and temporal weighted factors of the surface and subsurface flow profiles, resulted in acceptable discrepancies between simulated and measured advance time. Also it was verified that conjugated effect of these weighted factors on the simulation of the advance phase was greater than the effect of the temporal weighted factor. The model presents effective mechanisms in the accomplishment of countless simulations, in a discharge strip understood between the minimum and the maximum allowable values, aiming to determine the relationship between discharge and water application efficiency, deep percolation and runoff rates, and consequently to optimize the performance of the furrow irrigation systems with continuous flow.

Background: most anxiety complaints are treated with pharmacological measures involving barbiturates and benzodiazepines, in which they may end up causing tolerance and pharmacological dependence. Integrative approaches such as aromatherapy are used in addition to medications to improve sleep quality and reduce anxiety. Thus, PinetoninTm, a phytocomplex obtained from a blend of essential oils aims to aid in the symptoms of stress and anxiety. methods: The cytotoxicity of PinetoninTm was evaluated mTT assay using fibroblasts and astrocytes showed reduction in the cell viability only at high concentrations. Evaluation of intracellular calcium and determination of residual glutamate in the supernatant of astrocyte cultures showed agonist action of dihydroxyphenylglycine (DHPG) increasing linearly the concentration of intracellular calcium and the glutamate levels in the supernatants of the cultures. On the other hand, cultures of astrocytes treated with PinetoninTm showed residual glutamate levels in the supernatants reducing proportionally, as well as, intracellular calcium reduction. The determination of salivary cortisol showed a significant reduction in salivary cortisol levels in the group that received PinetoninTm. The evaluation of the electroencephalogram in patients treated with PinetoninTm had a significant increase (P Results: A reduction in dose-dependent cell viability was observed when compared to cultures of PinetoninTm treated fibroblasts with control culture. When PinetoninTm and linole are administered in astrocytic cells, there was a reduction of the intracellular concentration of Ca2+ against a control group treated with DHPG agonist. The evaluation of salivary cortisol demonstrated a reduction when the patient group was treated with PinetoninTm by purchasing the results against the group of patients treated with saline. Reinforcing the relaxed state of that group, alpha waves have been increased and reductions in beta waves. Conclusion: The results

This study evaluated the effect of enriched artemia nauplii with commercial probiotic for angelfish larvae determining growth perfomance,survival and modulation of the intestinal ***,it experiment occurred in completely randomized design with five treatments(T1-0.0,T2-1.5,T3-3.0,T4-4.5 and T5-6.0g of commercial probiotic)and four replaces during 20 *** larvaculture,post larvae passed by biometric procedures to determine productive performance and then microbiological *** reduction of total heterotrophic bacteria while increased lactic acid bacteria in the intestinal tract from the post larvae for treatments T3,T4 and *** commercial probiotic also increased the survival and performance as final weight,weight gain and specific growth *** these reasons,the use of 3g of commercial probiotic promotes greater performance and intestinal modulation for angelfish larvae.

Incorrect discard of oil used by fishing ship in the brazilian north region has become a common *** the possible hazard to the aquatic organisms,still missing scientific data about their ***,this study aimed to evaluate the stress and lethality caused by lubricant oil(FSAOLU)on fish Hyphessobrycon ***,it was used six different concentration diluted in water(0,22,24,26,28,30 and 32%of oil)and three replaces during 96 *** the end or during the experiment(with dying fish),it was collected blood samples(cutting the caudal fin)to determine physiological *** FSAOLU showed mean lethal dose(LD50-96h)of 27.36%,classified as toxic causing alterations in glucose values from the 26%.The greater dilution of FSAOLU(32%)increased 115%in glucose values when compared to the ***,lubricant oil when discarded in water,it present hazard to the aquatic organisms causing stress and mortality for fish being necessary adequate management to discard of this residue.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) has been identified as one of the most prevalent chronic liver disease in adults and children populations. NAFLD is usually associated with the metabolic syndrome(mS), which is chiefly related to insulin resistance and its consequences. Insulin resistance has a crucial role in the pathogenesis of hepatic steatosis and potentially nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH). Because of the contemporary epidemics of mS and obesity, the burden of NAFLD is also expected to rise. Unhealthy diets, such as the so-called western diet, are enriched in fructose, trans-fatty acids and saturated fat and seem to be associated with the development of NAFLD. In human studies, certain dietary sugars, particularly fructose, are used as a substrate for lipogenesis leading to hepatic fatty infiltration, inflammation, and possibly fibrosis. Other investigations have shown that fat consumption especially cholesterol and trans/saturated fatty acids are also steatogenic and seem to increase visceral adiposity. The identification of specific dietary components that favor the development of NASH could be important for the management of this disorder. This review focuses on the effects of different dietary approaches to prevent and treat NAFLD emphasizing the macronutrients and energy composition.

Screening of Type 2 Diabetes in the City of Belo Horizonte: Differences between Genders

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a major public health problem that carries a high social and economic burden. Its diagnosis is unknown in half of individuals who have the disease. The diagnosis of the risk factors should be done in the beginning, since changes in lifestyle and hyperglycemic correction may delay the appearance of the disease and its complications. In this context, screening has been considered an important tool for an early detection of diabetes in asymptomatic adults. Objective: The objective is to track diabetes in people from BH, comparing genders. Patients and methods: People were interviewed with questions concerning the risk factors associated with the development of diabetes. According to the risk factors present, they were classified as non-diabetic [ND], pre-diabetic [PD] or diabetic [Dm]. Statistical analyses were performed considering p ≤ 0.05 as significant. Results: 1264 individuals participated (5.5% Dm, 6.5% PD, 88.0% ND). When grouped, PD and Dm males were more prevalent than PD and Dm females. Those in the Dm group had higher blood pressure, age, glycaemia, number of past smokers, first-degree relatives with diabetes than either PD or ND. Both males and females in Dm and PD groups had a higher waist circumference than did either ND males or females. ND men had a higher intake of fried food and smoked more in the past than ND women. Both ND and PD males had higher blood pressure than women from the same groups. Conclusion: Screening for diabetes is very important for an early diagnosis and to avoid future complications in patients. It’s possible to infer that women are more conscientious when it comes to taking care of themselves than men.
