We read the article by del Giorgio et *** the march 2023 issue of World Journal of Pediatrics with great inter-est[1].The authors evaluated the incidence of pediatric appendicitis at their institutions during the first year of the pandemic compared to a four-year control *** found an increased incidence of appendicitis but did not find differences between study groups for length of stay,age and sex distributions,and proportion of complicated appendicitis.

Though bract and capsule wall of boll in cotton （Gossypium hirsutum L.） have different photosynthetic capacities, the features of photosystem II （PS II） in these organs are scarce. In this paper, chlorophyll a lfuorescence emission was measured to investigate the difference in the photosynthetic apparatus of dark-acclimated （JIP-test） and light-acclimated （light-saturation pulse method） bract and capsule wall. Compared with leaves, the oxygen evolving system of non-foliar organs had lower efifciency. The pool size of PS II electron acceptor of non-foliar organs was small, and the photochemical activity of leaves was higher than that of the bract and capsule wall. In regard to the photosystem I （PS I） electron acceptor side, the pool size of end electron acceptors of leaves was larger, and the quantum yield of electron transport from QA （PS II primary plastoquinone acceptor） further than the PS I electron acceptors of leaves was higher than that of bract and capsule wall. In all green organs, the actual quantum yield of photochemistry decreased with light. The thermal dissipation fraction of light absorbed by the PS II antennae was the highest in bract and the lowest in capsule wall relative to leaves. Compared with leaves, capsule wall was characterized by less constitutive thermal dissipation and via dissipation as lfuorescence emission. These results suggested that lower PS II photochemical activity in non-foliar organs may be result from limitations at the donor side of PS II and the acceptor sides of both photosystems.

For the medicolegal evaluation of victims of survived strangulation,a neck-magnetic resonance imaging(mRI)can be performed for assessing lesions in the inner soft tissues(fat,muscles or lymph nodes,for example).In our institute,such mRI examinations have been performed for a test period of 4 years with the aim of evaluating the use of this tool by forensic pathologists and identifying medicolegal indicators for the performance of neck-mRI in surviving victims of *** retrospectively reviewed medicolegal reports from all victims examined during the test *** extracted objective lesions(***,bruising and abrasions)and reported clinical symptoms(*** disorder,dysphasia)from the *** findings were compared to those reported from the *** total,112 victims were clinically examined after suspected *** of these victims underwent an mRI examination of the ***-four of the victims presented objective lesions during the clinical examination,with eight showing signs of both petechiae and ***-mRI was performed in four of these eight victims and three of them showed lesions visible in *** 76 victims with bruising as the only objective finding,66 victims described clinical *** those 66 victims,seven were examined by mRI and two demonstrated lesions in *** mRI was performed,relevant findings were detected in 45%of the *** leads to the suspicion that many more findings could have been detected in the other victims,if an mRI had been performed in those *** results lead us to the conclusion that an mRI examination of victims of suspected strangulation is useful,and strict indications for its application should be established.
