In-situ Post-Synthetic Treatment of CsPbBr3 Perovskite nanocrystals in nanoporous Silica Microspheres

Comprehensive Summary Inorganic lead halide perovskite(LHP)nanostructures,represented by formula CsPbX3(X=Cl,Br,I),have garnered considerable interest for their exceptional optical properties and diverse *** their potential,challenges such as environmental degradation ***-situ synthesis within protective materials pores is a promising way to address this ***,confining perovskite nanostructures into porous matrices during the synthesis can limit their photoluminescence quantum yield(PL QY)and tunability of optical *** post-treatment approaches exist to improve the properties of LHP and achieve their desired functionalities,but these strategies have not been explored for LHP confined in mesoporous ***,we demonstrate the efficacy of in-situ post-synthetic treatments to improve the optical properties of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals grown in nanoporous silica *** passivation with Br–ion-containing precursors boosts PL QY,while anion-assisted cation doping with Mn2+ions introduces a new PL *** adjustment of precursor amount and doping duration enables precise control over the optical properties of LHP,while additional coating with a SiO2 shell enhances their stability in polar solvents,expanding the potential applications of these composites.

Engineering of Yarrowia lipolytica for production of astaxanthin

Astaxanthin is a red-colored carotenoid,used as food and feed *** is mainly produced by chemical synthesis,however,the process is expensive and synthetic astaxanthin is not approved for human *** this study,we engineered the oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica for de novo production of astaxanthin by ***,we screened 12 different *** isolates for β-carotene production by introducing two genes for β-carotene biosynthesis:bi-functional phytoene synthase/lycopene cyclase(crtYB)and phytoene desaturase(crtI)from the red yeast Xanthophyllomyces *** best strain produced 31.1±0.5 mg/L β-***,we optimized the activities of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase(HMG1)and geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase(GGS1/crtE)in the best producing strain and obtained 453.9±20.2 mg/L β-*** downregulation of the competing squalene synthase SQS1 increased the β-carotene titer to 797.1±57.2 mg/*** we introduced β-carotene ketolase(crtW)from Paracoccus sp.n81106 and hydroxylase(crtZ)from Pantoea ananatis to convert β-carotene into *** constructed strain accumulated 10.4±0.5 mg/L of astaxanthin but also accumulated astaxanthin biosynthesis intermediates,5.7±0.5 mg/L canthaxanthin,and 35.3±1.8 mg/L ***,we optimized the copy numbers of crtZ and crtW to obtain 3.5 mg/g DCW(54.6 mg/L)of astaxanthin in a microtiter plate *** study for the first time reports engineering of *** for the production of *** high astaxanthin content and titer obtained even in a small-scale cultivation demonstrates a strong potential for ***-based fermentation process for astaxanthin production.

Ordered coalescence of nano-crystals in alkaline niobate ceramics with high remanent polarization

Lead-free alkali niobates na_(0.5)K_(0.5)nbO_(3)(nKn)ceramics,with significantly enhanced ferroelectric remanent polarization(Pr),were prepared using Spark Plasma Sintering(SPS).Three types of boundaries were observed in the ceramics,being grain boundaries between faceted grains,domain boundaries that separate ferroelectric domains inside individual grains,and nanoscale sub-grain boundaries that reveal the nano-scale mosaicity of individual *** of the sub-grain boundaries were from initial powder *** other sub-grain boundaries were built by ordered coalescence of nano-crystals during rapid SPS *** was worthwhile to emphasize that the ordered coalescence of nano-crystals in bulk ceramics during sintering takes place and completes within *** sub-grain features would disappear at higher temperature by long time *** Spark Plasma Sintering allowed us to capture this transient *** significantly enhanced ferroelectric Pr of nKn was attributed to nanoscale sub-boundaries,which stimulated the dynamics of ferroelectric domain formation and switching.

Metal-organic framework(MOF)-derived carbon composites have been considered as the promising materials for energy ***,the construction of MOF-based composites with highly controllable mode via the liquid-liquid synthesis method has a great challenge because of the simultaneous heterogeneous nucleation on substrates and the self-nucleation of individual MOF nanocrystals in the liquid ***,we report a bidirectional electrostatic generated self-assembly strategy to achieve the precisely controlled coatings of single-layer nanoscale MOFs on a range of substrates,including carbon nanotubes(CnTs),graphene oxide(GO),MXene,layered double hydroxides(LDHs),MOFs,and SiO_(2).The obtained MOF-based nanostructured carbon composite exhibits the hierarchical porosity(V_(meso)/V_(micro)∶2.4),ultrahigh n content of 12.4 at.%and"dual electrical conductive networks."The assembled aqueous zinc-ion hybrid capacitor(ZIC)with the prepared nanocarbon composite as a cathode shows a high specific capacitance of 236 F g^(-1)at 0.5 A g^(-1),great rate performance of 98 F g^(-1)at 100 A g^(-1),and especially,an ultralong cycling stability up to 230000 cycles with the capacitance retention of 90.1%.This work develops a repeatable and general method for the controlled construction of MOF coatings on various functional substrates and further fabricates carbon composites for ZICs with ultrastability.

Clinical and laboratory features of juvenile idiopathic arthritis with wrist involvement:Results of a retrospective cohort study

BACKGROUnD Previous studies in the pre-biological era showed an association of wrist inflammation in juvenile idiopathic arthritis(JIA)with progressive disease course,polyarticular involvement and failure of methotrexate *** To describe features of JIA,associated with wrist *** Data from about 753 JIA patients were included in this retrospective cohort *** clinical and laboratory features of patients with and without wrist involvement were *** Wrist involvement was found in oligoarthritis(5.8%),RF(−)/RF(+)polyarthritis(44.9%/15.0%),enthesitis-related arthritis(17.7%),and systemic(58.6%)JIA *** wrist involvement was typical for oligoarthritis patients,bilateral involvement was either equal to that of unilateral involvement or was more frequent in other *** arthritis was found to be associated with female sex,a low incidence of uveitis,and more indications of systemic inflammation,including elevated levels of C-reactive protein,erythrocyte sedimentation rate,and platelets,as well as involvement of the cervical spine,temporomandibular,shoulder,elbow,metacarpophalangeal,proximal interphalangeal,distal interphalangeal,hip,ankle,and tarsus *** number of patients with hip osteoarthritis and hip replacement was also *** arthritis was associated with a lower probability of achieving remission[hazard ratio(HR)=1.3(95%CI:1.0-1.7),P=0.055],and a higher probability of being treated with biologics[HR=1.7(95%CI:1.3-2.10,P=0.00009)].COnCLUSIOn Wrist arthritis in JIA patients is a marker of a severe disease course,characterized by more intensive inflammation,unfavorable outcomes,*** more intensive treatment with early administration of *** monitoring of wrist inflammation with ultrasound and MR assessment with early biological treatment might improve the outcomes.

Biomaterial Based on Doped Calcium Carbonate-Phosphate for Active Osteogenesis

Doped calcium carbonate-phosphate is a biocompatible material that influence actively on the osteogenesis, bone regenerate, strengthening of bone and dental tissues including through the skin. A mechanism of the synthesis reactions of doped nanocrystalline calcium carbonate-phosphate an oscillating type of model for these reactions is proposed. The results indicate that the synthesis involves the formation of hydroxy carbonate complexes from the three calcium carbonate polymorphs (calcite, vaterite, and aragonite) in a solution of ammonium chloride and ammonium carbonate, followed by reaction with orthophosphoric acid. The formation of nanocrystalline calcium carbonate-phosphate doped with Fe2+, Mg2+, Zn2+, K+, Si4+, and Mn2+, has been studied by X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, differential thermal analysis, and energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence analysis. This ensures the preparation of a bioactive material based on octacalcium hydrogen phosphate, and calcium chloride hydroxide phosphates containing cation vacancies. Particle-size analysis data show that the materials contain nanoparticles down to 10 nm in size. Heat treatment of the doped calcium carbonate phosphates produces calcium hydroxyapatite containing cation vacancies, which can be used as a bioactive ceramic.

Spatial avoidance of patches of polluted chernozem soils by soil invertebrates

Soil invertebrates and heavy metal concentrations are heterogeneously distributed in the soil of steppe plots surrounding an iron mining enterprise in southern Russia. This study assesses whether patches of high soil invertebrate abundance coincide with patches of low concentrations of pollutants. For this aim, spatial analysis by distance indices （SADIE） was applied. Three valleys in Belogorye nature Reserve were chosen. One valley faced the tailing pond to the north and the other two faced south-east or south-west. Two sampling plots were chosen in each valley, 60 m apart from each other. On every plot 16 soil cores were collected from a grid of 4 × 4 units with a 5-m distance between each sample unit. Each soil core had an area of 76 cm2 and was 12-15 cm deep. All macroinvertebrates were hand-sorted and identified to family. Abundance of soil invertebrates was not controlled by patches of metal concentration in the soil. Epigaeic groups, like insects and other invertebrates inhabiting the litter layer, were not directly associated with local parameters of the soil. On the contrary, belowground invertebrate abundance （elaterid larvae and earthworms） showed significant dissociation with some heavy metal （Fe, Pb, Zn） concentrations in the soil. The patchiness of soil pollution may act as a leading factor ofbelowground soil invertebrate distribution. The spatial structure of animal populations in industrially transformed soils needs further research.

Comprehensive semen examination in patients with pancreatic-sufficient and pancreatic-insufficient cystic fibrosis

We examined a cohort of 93 cystic fibrosis(CF)male patients who were pancreatic-sufficient(PS-CF;n=40)or pancreatic-insufficient(PI-CF;n=53).Complex semen examination was performed,including standard semen analysis,quantitative karyological analysis(QKA)of immature germ cells(IGCs),transmission electronic microscopy(TEM),biochemical analysis,and sperm DnA fragmentation by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nickend labeling(TUnEL)*** was diagnosed in 83(89.2%)*** other 10(10.8%)patients were found to be nonazoospermic and showed various spermatological diagnoses(asthenozoospermia,n=2;asthenoteratozoospermia,n=3;oligoasthenozoospermia,n=1;oligoasthenoteratozoospermia,n=3;and normozoospermia,n=1)with no specific morphological *** was detected in 89.2%azoospermic and 30.0%nonazoospermic *** seminal pH(nd in 74(89.2%)of 83 azoospermic *** leukocytospermia(2.0×10^(6)-2.2×10^(6)ml^(-1))was revealed in 2.4%azoospermic and 40.0%nonazoospermic semen *** signs of partial meiotic arrest at prophase I were found in 4 of 6 nonazoospermic patients examined by QKA of *** content of fructose and citrate was low in oligospermic and normal in nonoligospermic semen *** increased percentage(>30%)of spermatozoa with noncondensed(“immature”)chromatin was revealed in 2 of 6 nonazoospermic semen samples analyzed by TEM.

A preliminary investigation of fossil wood from Lower Mekong Basin of Southeast Asia

nine fossil wood samples from the Mesozoic bedrock and the Quaternary terrace deposits of the Lower Mekong Basin in Southeast Asia including Thailand,Laos and Cambodia were investigated in order to assist in developing a hypothesis about the Mekong River palaeocourses. Six of the samples were conifers assigned to Aga-thoxylon sp.,and three were dicots of cf. Pahudioxylon sp. and two unknown taxa( Dicotyloxylon sp.).The preservation of two dicotyledonous wood samples is insufficient for precise identification to family level,such that the samples are not suitable with respect to investigation of the river palaeocourse. However,these findings increase the systematic data of the fossil wood from the Mekong Basin. Further investigations of fossil wood from the Mekong Basin are in progress to gain a regional perspective on the plant communities and to form better reconstruction of the palaeoenvironment.
