Thermoplastic polyurethane(PU)elastomers have attracted significant attention because of their many important industrial ***,the creation of fire-retardant and anti-dripping PU elastomers has remained a grant challenge due to the lack of crosslinking and weak interchain ***,we report a mechanically robust,biodegradable,fire-retardant,and anti-dripping biobased PU elastomer with excellent biodegradability using an abietic acid-based compound as hard segments.a.d polycaprolactone diol(PCL)as soft segments,followed by physically crosslinking with cellulose nanocrys.a.s(CNC)through dynamic *** resultant elastomer shows the balanced mechanical and fire-retardant properties,e.g.,a tensile strength and break strain of 9.1 MPa and 560%,a self-extinguishing ability(V-0 rating in UL-94 testing),and an anti-dripping ***,the as-developed PU can be completely degraded in 1.0 wt.%lipase solution at 37℃ in 60 days.a.ising from the catalytic and wicking effect of CNC on PU *** work provides.a. innovative and versatile strategy for constructing robust,fire-retardant,anti-dripping,and biodegradable PU elastomers,which hold great promise for practical applications in electronic and automobile sectors.

Are there sex-based dis.a.ities in cataract surgery?

AIM:To investigate sex-based differences in the occurrence of intra-operative and post-operative complications.a.d associated vis.a. outcomes following cataract ***:This was.a.retrospective study of patients who had phacoemulsification cataract surgery at the University of Colorado school of *** collected included the patient’s health history,ocular comorbidities,operative and post-operative complications.a.d the post-operative best corrected vis.a. acuity(BCVA).The data were analyzed using univariate and multivariable logistic regression with generalized estimating equations to account for the correlation of some patients having two eyes included in the ***:A total of 11977 eyes from 7253 patients were included in the *** comorbidities differed by sex,with males having significantly higher percentages of traumatic cataracts(males 0.7%vs females 0.1%),prior ocular surgery(6.7%vs 5.5%),and mature cataracts(2.8%vs 1.9%).Conversely,females had significantly higher rates of pseudoexfoliation(2.0%vs 3.2%).In unadjusted analysis,males had higher rates of posterior capsular rupture(0.8%vs 0.4%)and vitreous loss(1.0%vs 0.6%),but this difference was not significant after adjustment for *** had a significantly increased risk of post-operative retinal detachment,but in multivariable analysis this was no longer *** were significantly less likely to undergo post-operative neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Nd:YAG)laser capsulotomy for posterior capsule opacification(OR=0.8,95%CI=0.7-0.9,P=0.0005).The BCVA was slightly worse for males pre-operatively;but post-operatively,both sexes exhibited similar vis.a. acuity of snellen equivalent 20/***:The study finds that in a cohort of patients presenting for cataract surgery,sex differences exist in pre-operative comorbidities.a.d surgical characteristics that contribute to higher rates of some complications for ***,observed surgical complicatio

Background:Physical activity(PA)is important for cancer *** of remotely delivered interventions.a.e needed to assist in reaching under-served non-metropolitan cancer *** objective of this study was to ascertain whether wearable technology,coupled with health coaching was effective in increasing PA in breast and colorectal cancer survivors living in regional and remote areas in ***:Cancer survivors from 5 s.a.es were randomized to intervention and control *** participants were given a Fitbit Charge 2TMand received up to 6 telephone health coaching *** participants received PA print *** assessments.a. baseline and 12 weeks measured moderate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA),light PA,and sedentary ***:Eighty-seven participants were recruited(age=63±11 years;74(85%)female).There was.a.significant net improvement in MVPA of 49.8 min/week,favoring the intervention group(95%confidence interval(95%CI):13.6-86.1,p=0.007).There was.a.so a net increase in MVPA bouts of 39.5 min/week(95%CI:11.9-67.1,p=0.005),favoring the intervention *** groups improved light PA and sedentary behavior,but there were no between-group ***:This’s the first study to demonstrate that,when compared to s.a.dard practice(i.e.,PA education),a wearable technology intervention coupled with dis.a.ce-based health coaching,improves MVPA in non-metropolitan cancer *** results display promise for the use of s.a.able interventions using s.a.t wearable technology in conjunction with phone-based health coaching to foster increased PA in geographically disadvantaged cancer survivors.

Excitons,bound electron–hole pairs,in two-dimensional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites(2D HOIPs.a.e capable of forming hybrid light-matter s.a.es known as exciton-polaritons(E–Ps)when the excitonic medium is confined in an optical *** the case of 2D HOIPs,they can self-hybridize into E–Ps.a. specific thicknesses of the HOIP crys.a.s that form a resonant optical cavity with the ***,the fundamental properties of these self-hybridized E–Ps in 2D HOIPs,including their role in ultrafast energy and/or charge transfer at interfaces,remain ***,we demonstrate that>0.5µm thick 2D HOIP crys.a.s on Au substrates.a.e capable of supporting multiple-orders of self-hybridized E–P *** E–Ps have high Q factors(>100)and modulate the optical dispersion for the crys.a. to enhance sub-gap absorption and *** varying excitation energy and ultrafast measurements,we also confirm energy transfer from higher energy E–Ps to lower energy E–***,we also demonstrate that E–Ps.a.e capable of charge transport and transfer at *** findings provide new insights into charge and energy transfer in E–Ps opening new opportunities towards their manipulation for polaritonic devices.

Naevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCs) or Gorlin syndrome is.a.rare autosomal dominant cancer disorder. The Gorlin’s gene, Patched 1 (PTCH1), maps to Chromosome 9q. Germline mutations of PTCH1 occur in patients with NBCCs. The subsequent loss of the remaining allele results in cancer formation. We present a patient with NBCCs.a.d additional phenotypic features including severe developmental delay, short s.a.ure and hypotelorism who was found to have an interstitial chromosome 9q deletion. The NBCCs phenotype in our patient occurred as.a.result of PTCH1 deletion in contrast with an inherited mutation of this gene.

Combined influence of basal media and fibroblast growth factor on the expansion and differentiation capabilities of adipose-derived stem cells

Background: Interest in adipose-derived stem cells (AsCs) has increased in recent years due to their multi-linagedifferentiation capabilities. While much work has been done to optimize the differentiation media, few studies havefocused on examining the influence of different expansion media on cell behavior. In this study, three basal media(low glucose Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium (DMEM), high glucose DMEM and DMEM-F12) supplementedwith or without fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF) were examined to assess their suitability for expanding ***: Flow cytometry, colony-forming unit as.a.s (CFU-Fs) and differentiation as.a.s were utilized to study cellbehavior. High glucose media CFU-Fs produced fewest colonies while the addition of FGF increased colony *** pas.a.e 2, the majority of cells were positive for CD44, 45, 73, 90 and 105 and negative for CD14, 31 and 45,indicating a mesenchymal phenotype. A sub-population of CD34 positive cells was present among pas.a.e 2 cells;however, by pas.a.e 4 the cells were negative for CD34. FGF has.a.negative effective on pas.a.e 4 AsC adipogenesisand high glucose media plus FGF-enhanced osteogenic capacity of pas.a.e 4 AsCs. FGF supplemented basal mediawere most suitable for chondrogenesis. High glucose media plus FGF appeared to be the most beneficial for primingAsCs to induce a keratocyte ***: These findings demonstrate the reciprocal effect FGF and basal media have on AsCs. This res.a.ch hasimplications for those interested regenerating bone, cartilage, cornea or adipose tissues.

An Analysis of soil Coring strategies to Estimate Root Depth in Maize(Zea mays.a.d Common Bean(Phaseolus vulgaris)

A soil coring protocol was developed to cooptimize the estimation of root length distribution(RLD)by depth and detection of functionally important variation in root system architecture(RsA)of maize and *** functional-structural model OpensimRoot was used to perform in silico soil coring at six locations on three different maize and bean RsA *** were compared to two s.a.ons of field soil coring and one *** one-sided T-test(TOsT)analysis of in silico data suggests.a.between-row location 5 cm from plant base(location 3),best estimates whole-plot RLD/D of deep,intermediate,and s.a.low RsA phenotypes,for both maize and *** discriminant analysis indicates location 3 has~70%categorization accuracy for bean,while an in-row location next to the plant base(location 6)has~85%categorization accuracy in *** of field data suggests the more representative sampling locations vary by year and *** silico and field studies suggest location 3 is most robust,although variation is significant among s.a.ons.a.ong replications within a field s.a.on,and among field soil coring,trench,and *** propose that the characterization of the RLD profile as.a.dynamic rhizo canopy effectively describes how the RLD profile arises from interactions.a.ong an individual plant,its neighbors.a.d the pedosphere.
