20-Hydroxyecdysone from Dacrycarpus imbricatus bark inhibits the proliferation of acute myeloid leukemia cells

transarterial administration of integrin inhibitor loaded nanoparticles combined with transarterial chemoembolization for treating hepatocellular carcinoma in a rat model

AIM: To compare the effect of transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) plus GRGDSP(Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-SerPro, integrin-inhibitor) loaded nanoparticles with TACE alone or TACE + GRGDSP in a rat model of liver tumor. METHODS: Morris hepatoma 3924 A tumors were implanted in the livers of 30 ACI rats. The ACI rats were divided randomly into three groups(10 animals each). Tumor volume before treatment(v1) was examined by magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), and then, after laparotomy and placement of a PE-10 catheter into the hepatic artery, the following interventional protocols were performed: TACE(mitomycin C + lipiodol + degradable starch microspheres) + GRGDSP loaded nanoparticles for group A; TACE + GRGDSP for group B(control group 1); TACE alone for group C(control group 2). Tumor volume(v2) was assessed by MRI and the mean ratio of the post-treatment to pretreatment tumor volumes(v2/v1) was calculated. Immunohistochemical analysis was performed to assess the quantification of matrix metalloprotein 9(MMP-9) and vascular endothelial growth factor(vEGF) positive tumor cells in each treatment ***: The mean tumor growth ratios(v2/v1) were 1.3649 ± 0.1194 in group A, 2.0770 ± 0.1595 in group B, and 3.2148 ± 0.1075 in group C. Compared with groups B and C, group A showed a significant reduction in tumor volume. Lower expression of MMP-9 and vEGF in hepatocellular carcinoma was observed in group A than in groups B and C. The angiogenesis of tumor was evaluated using anti-vEGF antibodies, and the metastasis of tumor was assessed using antiMMP-9 antibody. MMP-9 and vEGF were expressed in all specimens. The immunoexpression of these proteins was confirmed by the presence of red cytoplasmic staining in tumor cells. Studies investigating correlates of physical activity(PA)using objective PA measurements among primary schoolaged children are limited in Asia,particularly *** study examined psychosocial and environmental factors associated with PA among fifth-grade students in eight primary schools in Ho Chi Minh city,*** analyses showed that for every month increase in students’age,an increase of 66 steps/day(pvery unit increase in self-efficacy,perceived social influences,intention to be physically active,and parental support for PA,an increase of 220,200,522,and 117 steps/day(pvariable analysis,only intention and parental support for PA remained significant(pvariation in daily steps was explained by demographic characteristics and an additional 13%by psychosocial *** conclusion,intention to be physically active and parental support are important factors and should be considered when designing PA interventions in school/community-based settings.

Effects of lime treatment on the microstructure and hydraulic conductivity of Héricourt clay

This study aims at evidencing the effects of lime treatment on the microstructure and hydraulic conductivityof a compacted expansive clay, with emphasis put on the effect of lime hydration and *** this purpose, evolutions of hydraulic conductivity were investigated for both lime-treatedand untreated soil specimens over 7 d after full saturation of the specimens and their microstructureswere observed at the end. Note that for the treated specimen, dry clay powder was mixed with quicklimeprior to compaction in order to study the effect of lime hydration. It is observed that lime hydration andmodification did not affect the intra-aggregate pores but increased the inter-aggregates pores size. Thisincrease gave rise to an increase of hydraulic conductivity. More precisely, the hydraulic conductivity oflime-treated specimen increased progressively during the first 3 d of modification phase and stabilisedduring the next 4 d which correspond to a short period prior to the stabilisation phase. The microstructureobservation showed that stabilisation reactions took place after 7 d. Under the effect of stabilisation,a decreasing hydraulic conductivity can be expected in longer time due to the formation ofcementitious compounds. 2014 Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The paper comprises new analytical data on the nature and occurrence of gold in solid pyrobitumen,closely associated with the main gold-bearing sulfide arsenic ores of the Bakyrchik gold deposit(Kazakhstan),related to post-collisional magmatic-hydrothermal *** mineralization of the deposit occurs mainly in the form of an“invisible”type of gold in the structures of arsenian pyrite and arsenopyrite,and the form of gold-organic compounds of pyrobitumen in carbonaceous-terrigenous sequences of Carboniferous *** and electron microscopic analysis,Raman and FT-Infrared analysis,mineralogical and three-step sequential extraction analysis(NH2OHHCl,H2O2,HNO3?HCl)has been carried out using 9 ore samples(from 3 different types of ores)for a comprehensive study of pyrobitumen and sulfide arsenic ores focusing mainly on organic *** sequentially extracted precious metal content of pyrobitumen reaches up to 7 ppm gold and other metals like Ag 4 ppm,Pt 31 ppb,and Pd 26 ppb,forming metal–organic compounds,while arsenic sulfide minerals incorporate 11 ppm gold,39 ppm Ag,0.49 ppm *** enrichment of gold associating with organic matter and sulfide ore minerals was confirmed in this *** matter was active in the migration of gold and the capture of gold by ***,the reductive organic matter agent released gold,most likely for the sulfide arsenic ore *** was a decisive factor in the concentration,transportation,and preservation of gold in the deposit.

Influence of the Backslopping Practice on the Microbial Diversity of the Lactococcus Population in a Model Cheesemaking

The objective of this work was to study the microbial diversity of natural whey starters (NWS), with a special focus on Lactococcus strains, during 10 successive days of backslopping. Each day, whey samples were enumerated for their Lactococcus, Enterococcus, Leuconostoc and Lactobacillus levels. The diversity and dynamics of the Lactococcus population in whey were investigated using phenotypic methods such as acidifying aptitude and enzymatic activities. Molecular approach using REP-PCR, ERIC-PCR, plamid profiles, phages and prophages research and PFGE was also applied. Lactococci were the main population in whey. Strains from raw milk were sub-dominant. Based on PFGE and phenotypic results lactococci in whey displayed a more heterogeneous phenotype and pulsotype which may reflect greater variations than previously observed within starter. No phages and prophages were spotted on. Plasmids did not seem to be exchanged from strain to strain. The backslopping practice seemed to allow the strains of the starter to rapidly acquire a specificity of their own. The changes observed presumed a slow adaptation of the strains to the “back- slopping environment”. The study of NWS diversity constitutes an important step for the comprehension of acidification defects that recurrently occur in cheesemaking technologies using the backslopping practice.

利用溶胶-凝胶技术原位合成v_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2介孔结构脱硝催化剂。通过XRD、BET、SEM和XPS等手段对催化剂结构与组成进行表征,发现结构导向剂CTAB促进催化剂的比表面积和孔容的增加,促进催化剂活性组分的分散与裸露的v活性组分数量增加;且随CTAB含量的增加,v4^+/v5^+的比值降低,即降低了催化剂表面钒物种的氧化能力,有利于提高催化剂的低温脱硝活性与高温选择性。催化活性评价结果表明,CTAB对催化剂的脱硝活性有显著促进作用,当CTAB的添加量为0.01(质量)时,催化剂的脱硝活性大于90%的温度窗口最宽为212~393℃,200℃时脱硝效率达85.6%。
