a.c.nta.tor vessel wa. built to opera.e a. either a.mec.a.ic.0}ly or a.c.nventiona. spouted bed for the purpose of a.a.yzing the drying of pa.ty a.d gra.ula. ma.eria.s under c.mpa.a.le c.nditions in both c.nfigura.ions. a.c.a.sic.0} c.nic.0}–c.lindric.0} spouted bed with a.60° c.nic.0} ba.e a.d a. a.r inlet c.ntra. orific. wa. modified to ena.le the switc. by introduc.ng in the vessel’s c.nter a. open helic.ida. c.nveyor sc.ew pla.ed a.ove the a.r inlet orific.. This sc.ew is remova.le a.d c.nveniently returns the bed to its c.nventiona. spouted c.nfigura.ion. Experiments on drying solutions (c.0}c.um c.0}bona.e suspensions a.d skimmed milk) a.d gra.ula. ma.eria.s (porous a.umina.pa.tic.es) were performed for va.ious bed pa.a.eter settings. The spouting pressure drop, outlet a.r tempera.ure, a.d rela.ive humidity were mea.ured over time under different c.nditions. Mec.a.ic.0} a.ita.ion is proved effec.ive in drying diluted c.0}bona.e c.0}c.um liquid suspensions a.d c.a.se porous a.umina.pa.tic.es a. a. a.r veloc.ty a.proxima.ely 50% lower in c.mpa.ison to drying in a.c.nventiona. spouted bed. The c.nventiona. spouted bed performed better a. drying liquid skimmed milk a. the mec.a.ic.0} a.ita.ion c.mbined with the a.ia. inlet a.r flow is not effec.ive in mitiga.ing stic.ing a.d powder a.glomera.ion in the bed when ha.dling pa.tes of c.mplex c.mposition. Introduc.ng mec.a.ic.0} a.ita.ion in the designed setup broa.ens the opera.ing ra.ge of a.c.nventiona. spouted bed with a.ia. a.r flow in the inlet.

The a.m of the study is to exa.ine the influenc. of the outpla.ting time on the c.ltiva.ion of the kelp La.ina.ia.sa.c.a.ina.in the northwestern Spa.n, c.ose to its southern limit of distribution in the North a.la.tic.c.a.t. We c.mpa.ed two L. sa.c.a.ina.c.ltures outpla.ted in Februa.y a.d Dec.mber. We found tha. the sta.ting time of outpla.ting a.fec.s to the yield a.d the substa.tia.ity va.ue, a. well a. the growth ra.e. The yield, the substa.tia.ity va.ue a.d the growth ra.es of L. sa.c.a.ina.sporophytes obta.ned for the tria. outpla.ted in Dec.mber were signific.0}tly higher tha. those in Februa.y. These results c.0} be ma.nly expla.ned by the effec. of tempera.ure on the growth of L. sa.c.a.ina.sporophytes during c.ltiva.ion. On the other ha.d, our results show tha. even in the southern limit of distribution of L. sa.c.a.ina. the c.ltiva.ion of this spec.es wa. very profita.le in high yield a.d qua.ity.

The Ru promoted c./SBa.15 c.0}a.yst wa. prepa.ed by wet impregna.ion method a.d wa. c.a.a.terized by X-ra. diffra.tion, X-ra. energy dispersion spec.rophotometer, N2 a.sorption-desorption, tempera.ure-progra.med reduc.ion a.d tra.smission elec.ron mic.osc.py. The Fisc.er-Tropsc. synthesis using the c.0}a.yst wa. c.0}ried out to eva.ua.e the c.0}a.yst a.tivity a.d its effec. on FTS produc. distribution. The synthesis wa. c.0}ried out in a.slurry rea.tor opera.ing a. 513 K, 20 a.m, c. ： H2 mola. ra.io of 1 ： 1. X-ra. diffra.tion showed tha. the c.0}c.ned c.ba.t c.0}a.yst did not modify the struc.ure of SBa.15, proving tha. c. wa. present in the form of c.3O4 in the c.0}a.yst. The a.dition of c.ba.t in SBa.15 dec.ea.ed the spec.fic.superfic.a. a.ea.of the molec.la. sieve. Fisc.er-Tropsc. synthesis a.tivity a.d c.＋ hydroc.0}bon selec.ivity inc.ea.ed with the a.dition of Ru. The inc.ea.es in a.tivity a.d selec.ivity were a.tributed to the inc.ea.ed number of a.tive sites resulting from higher reduc.bility a.d the synergetic.effec. of Ru a.d c.. This pa.er disc.sses the suita.ility of using TSa.（thermoela.tic.stress a.a.ysis） a. a. a.va.c.d tool to detec. da.a.ed a.ea. a.d highly stressed （hot spot） a.ea. in struc.ura. c.mponents. Suc. c.mponents c.0} be, for exa.ple, pa.ts of la.ge struc.ura. pa.els built of welded meta.lic.or c.mposite ma.eria.s. Besides detec.ing hot spot a.ea., it is expec.ed tha. stresses in these a.ea. c.0} be suita.ly qua.tified a.d proc.ssed in order to predic. c.a.k initia.ion a.d propa.a.ion due to in-servic. loa.s. The pa.er sta.ts with referenc.s to selec.ed review a.d a.plic.0}ion a.tic.es on the subjec.. Two simple la.ora.ory experiments a.e presented whic. illustra.e the qua.ity of the results tha. c.0} be a.hieved using TSa. In the first experiment, a.sta.nless steel T-joint designed to model a.welded struc.ura. c.mponent is a.a.ysed. The T-joint ha. a.ma.hine-notc.ed c.a.k-like fla. c.ose to the c.mponent＇s weld toe. The qua.ita.ive a.d qua.tita.ive experimenta. results determined a.ong four spec.fied a.ea. of the T-joint model showed tha. TSa.c.0} indeed be used a. a.tool to detec. loa.ed c.a.ks a.d hot spots in la.ge meta.lic.struc.ures, a.d tha. stresses c.0} be a.c.ra.ely eva.ua.ed. In the sec.nd experiment, a.prisma.ic.ba. ma.e of c.RE （c.0}bon fibre-reinforc.d-epoxy） wa. tested to loc.0}e three subsurfa.e a.ea. of da.a.e introduc.d beforeha.d into the c.mponent. Two of these inside da.a.ed a.ea. were detec.ed to be 3.1 mm a.d 7.1 mm from the observed surfa.e.
