Simulated rainfall in Brazil:An alternative for assesment of soil surface processes and an opportunity for technological development

Rainfall simulators(RS)have been used,above all,to evaluate hydrological processes related to soil water infiltration,surface runoff and soil *** allow repeatability of rain application with different precipitation intensities in field and/or laboratory conditions and should produce events with physical characteristics similar to natural *** this manuscript,we carried out a bibliometric and scientometric analysis of studies with simulated rainfall in Brazil to assess the temporal evolution of publications,the main topics addressed and the degree of technological development of the *** searched for the terms“rainfall simulator”OR“simulated rainfall”AnD“Brazil”in the Scopus,Web of Science,ScieLO and Google Scholar *** found 143 articles published in the last 37 years(1985-2022).Our findings indicate that the main research areas covered in papers are soil erosion(57.34%),soil water infiltration(24.47%),nutrient losses(9.8%)and RS development and calibration/assessment(8.39%).In recent years,the number of published papers in international high-impact factor journals has *** of the papers(49.65%)refer to studies carried out by institutions located in the south and southeast regions of ***,there is a large gap of studies on simulated rainfall in other regions of Brazil,where important biomes such as the Cerrado,Amazon,Caatinga,and their transitions are *** study informs research priorities on soil erosion under simulated rainfall and provides a bibliographic database that can assist in more detailed future analyses.

Alluvial sedimentation and tectonostratigraphic evolution in a narrow extensional zigzag basin margin (northern Teruel Basin, Spain)

The northern part of the eastern margin of the extensional neogene Teruel Basin(central-eastern Spain)consists of a non-linear,zigzag fault zone made of alternating ca.2 km long,nnW-SSe trending segments and shorter nneSSW *** outcrop conditions made possible a comprehensive integrated stratigraphic and structural study,especially focused on coarse clastic sediments deposited along the basin ***-exposed stratal relationships with boundary faults,allowed the analysis of tectonic influence on *** deformation includes growth faulting,rollover anticlines,and monoclines and associated onlap stratal terminations,angular unconformities,and other complex growth strata *** of them is the onlap-over-rollover bed arrangement described here for the first time,which reveals the competition between tectonic subsidence and sedimentary ***,the structural inheritance(dense Mesozoic fracture grid)and the dominant,nearly‘multidirectional’(σ1 vertical,σ2≈σ3),Pliocene extensional regime withσ3 close to e-W,are considered to have controlled the margin structure and ***-stratigraphic evolution includes:(i)reactivation of inherited nnW-SSe faults and development of W-SW-directed small alluvial fans(SAF)while nne-SSW segments acted as gentle relay ramp zones;(ii)progressive activation of nne-SSW faults and development of nW-directed very small alluvial fans(VSAF);during stages i and ii sediments were trapped close to the margin,avoiding widespread progradation;(iii)linking of nnW-SSe and nne-SSW structural segments,overall basin sinking and widespread alluvial progradation;(iv)fault activity attenuation and alluvial *** particular structure and kinematic evolution of this margin controlled alluvial system *** of alluvial fans,directly set up at the border faults,was conditioned by the narrowness of the margin,small catchment areas,and proximity between faults,which prevented the development of l

In recent years,graphene field-effect-transistors(GFeTs)have demonstrated an outstanding potential for terahertz(THz)photodetection due to their fast response and *** features are essential to enable emerging THz applications,including 6G wireless communications,quantum information,bioimaging and ***,the overall performance of these photodetectors may be utterly compromised by the impact of internal resistances presented in the device,so-called access or parasitic *** this work,we provide a detailed study of the influence of internal device resistances in the photoresponse of high-mobility dual-gate GFeT *** dual-gate architectures allow us to fine tune(decrease)the internal resistance of the device by an order of magnitude and consequently demonstrate an improved responsivity and noise-equivalent-power values of the photodetector,*** results can be well understood by a series resistance model,as shown by the excellent agreement found between the experimental data and theoretical *** findings are therefore relevant to understand and improve the overall performance of existing high-mobility graphene photodetectors.

The properties of uniform hyperbolicity and dominated splitting have been introduced to study the stability of the dynamics of *** meets difficulties when trying to extend these definitions to vector fields and Shantao Liao has shown that it is more relevant to consider the linear Poincare flow rather than the tangent flow in order to study the properties of the *** this paper,we define the notion of singular domination,an analog of the dominated splitting for the linear Poincar´e flow which is robust under *** on this,we give a new definition of multi-singular hyperbolicity which is equivalent to the one recently introduced by Bonatti and da luz(2017).The novelty of our definition is that it does not involve the blow-up of the singular set and the rescaling cocycle of the linear flows.

The adsorption capacities for the removal of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solutions by six carbon nanomaterials have been evaluated. Single-walled and multi-walled carbon nanotubes as received and after oxidation treatment, graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide are the materials with different dimension and functionalization compared in this research. Carbon nanotubes have been modified using hydrogen peroxide as oxidizing agent under microwave radiation. The oxidation treatment on carbon nanotubes has a positive effect increasing the adsorbent–adsorbate interaction. Rate-controlling mechanisms and equilibrium data are analyzed using non-linear models. non-linear method is proposed as the most suitable method for determining the kinetic and equilibrium parameters. The values of adsorption energy(e) obtained from the Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm,have been found around 0.371 and 0.870 k J·mol-1, indicating physical adsorption. Therefore, the pseudo-second order model represents better the kinetic experimental data. The results show that the Langmuir isotherm provides a slightly better fit to the experimental data compared with the Freundlich isotherm, indicating homogeneous distribution of active sites on carbon nanomaterials and monolayer adsorption. The separation factors RLare found in the range of 0–1, suggesting that the adsorption process is suitable for all adsorbents. The mechanisms for hexavalent chromium removal have been proposed as electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonding.
