The increasing integration of distributed household photovoltaics(PVs)and electric vehicles(EVs)may further ag gravate voltage violations and unbalance of low-voltage distribu tion networks(LVDNs).DC distribution networks can increase the accommodation of PVs and EVs and mitigate mutilple pow er quality problems by the flexible power regulation capability of voltage source converters.This paper proposes schemes to es tablish hybrid AC/DC LVDNs considering the conversion of the existing three-phase four-wire low-voltage AC systems to DC op eration.The characteristics and DC conversion constraints of typical LVDNs are analyzed.In addition,converter configura tions for typical LVDNs are proposed based on the three-phase four-wire characteristics and quantitative analysis of various DC configurations.Moreover,an optimal planning method of hybrid AC/DC LVDNs is proposed,which is modeled as a bi-level programming model considering the annual investments and three-phase unbalance.Simulations are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed optimal planning method.Sim ulation results show that the proposed optimal planning method can increase the integration of PVs while simultaneously reduc ing issues related to voltage violation and unbalance.

Artificial neural networks(ANNs)have led to landmark changes in many fields,but they still differ significantly fromthemechanisms of real biological neural networks and face problems such as high computing costs,excessive computing power,and so on.Spiking neural networks(SNNs)provide a new approach combined with brain-like science to improve the computational energy efficiency,computational architecture,and biological credibility of current deep learning applications.In the early stage of development,its poor performance hindered the application of SNNs in real-world scenarios.In recent years,SNNs have made great progress in computational performance and practicability compared with the earlier research results,and are continuously producing significant results.Although there are already many pieces of literature on SNNs,there is still a lack of comprehensive review on SNNs from the perspective of improving performance and practicality as well as incorporating the latest research results.Starting from this issue,this paper elaborates on SNNs along the complete usage process of SNNs including network construction,data processing,model training,development,and deployment,aiming to provide more comprehensive and practical guidance to promote the development of SNNs.Therefore,the connotation and development status of SNNcomputing is reviewed systematically and comprehensively from four aspects:composition structure,data set,learning algorithm,software/hardware development platform.Then the development characteristics of SNNs in intelligent computing are summarized,the current challenges of SNNs are discussed and the future development directions are also prospected.Our research shows that in the fields of machine learning and intelligent computing,SNNs have comparable network scale and performance to ANNs and the ability to challenge large datasets and a variety of tasks.The advantages of SNNs over ANNs in terms of energy efficiency and spatial-temporal data processing have been more fully exploited.And the developme

Hepatectomy is still the major curative treatment for patients with liver malignancies.However,it is still a big challenge to remove the tumors in the central posterior area,especially if their location involves the retrohepatic inferior vena cava and hepatic veins.Ex vivo liver resection and auto-transplantation(ELRA),a hybrid technique of the traditional liver resection and transplantation,has brought new hope to these patients and therefore becomes a valid alternative to liver transplantation.Due to its technical difficulty,ELRA is still concentrated in a few hepatobiliary centers that have experienced surgeons in both liver resection and liver transplantation.The efficacy and safety of this technique has already been demonstrated in the treatment of benign liver diseases,especially in the advanced alveolar echinococcosis.Recently,the application of ELRA for liver malignances has gained more attention.However,standardization of clinical practice norms and international consensus are still lacking.The prognostic impact in these oncologic patients also needs further evaluation.In this review,we summarized the principles and recent progresses on ELRA.

BACKGROUND When an anorectal foreign body is found,its composition and shape should be evaluated,and a timely and effective treatment plan should be developed based on the patient's symptoms to avoid serious complications such as intestinal perforation caused by displacement of the foreign body.CASE SUMMARY A 54-year-old male was admitted to our outpatient clinic on June 3,2023,due to a rectal foreign body that had been embedded for more than 24 h.The patient reported using a glass electrode tube to assist in the recovery of prolapsed hemorrhoids,however,the electrode tube was inadvertently inserted into the anus and could not be removed by the patient.During hospitalization,the patient underwent surgery,and the foreign body was dragged into the rectum with the aid of colonoscopy.The anus was dilated with a comb-type pulling hook and an anal fistula pulling hook to widen the anus and remove the foreign body,and the local anal symptoms were then relieved with topical drugs.The patient was allowed to eat and drink,and an entire abdominal Computed tomography(CT)and colonoscopy were reviewed 3 d after surgery.CT revealed no foreign body residue and colonoscopy showed no metal or other residues in the colon and rectum,and no apparent intestinal tract damage.CONCluSION The timeliness and rationality of the surgical and therapeutic options for this patient were based on a literature review of the clinical signs and conceivable conditions in such cases.The type,material and the potential risks of rectal foreign bodies should be considered.

Bile acids(BAs)are the major metabolic product of cholesterol,having detergent-like activities and being responsible for absorption of lipid and lipid-soluble vitamins.Tn addition,it has been increasingly recognized that BAs are important signaling molecules,regulating energy metabolism and immunity.Under physiological circumstances,synthesis and transport of BAs are precisely regulated to maintain bile acid homeostasis.Disruption of bile acid homeostasis results in pathological cholestasis and metabolic liver diseases.During the last decades,BAs have been gradually recognized as an important therapeutic target for novel treatment in chronic liver diseases.This review will provide an update on the current understanding of synthesis,transport and regulation of BAs,with a focus on the therapeutic roles of bile acid signaling in chronic liver diseases.

BACKGROUND Nodular lymphoid hyperplasia(NLH)in the small intestine is a rare benign lesion characterized by multiple small nodules on the intestinal surface.Patients with terminal ileal NLH may experience long-term abdominal pain,diarrhea,and abdominal distension,among other symptoms.Supplementation with probiotics could mitigate these symptoms.NLH is linked to the immune system,and it may result from accumulation of plasma-cell precursors due to a maturational defect during the development of B lymphocytes.The intestinal microbiome plays an essential role in the immune system.Thus,we speculate that the gut flora plays a key role in terminal ileal NLH.AIM To explore the correlation between intestinal flora and terminal ileal NLH.METHODS We collected mucosal biopsy samples that were obtained via colonoscopy from 15 patients with terminal ileal NLH(the test group)and 15 normal subjects(the control group).We subsequently performed 16 S-r RNA gene amplicon sequencing of these samples,and the results were evaluated using alpha diversity,beta diversity and microbial composition analyses.The Phylogenetic Investigation of Communities by Reconstruction of Unobserved States was used to predict the metabolic pathways and orthologous groups according to the Kyoto Encyclopedia of genes and genomes database.RESULTS Compared with the control group,the terminal ileal NLH group showed an increased alpha diversity(Plum Bacteroidetes was significantly lower in the NLH group,while that of Patescibacteria and Campilobacterota was significantly higher.The genus Bacteroides was the dominant gut microbiota in both groups,but its abundance was significantly lower in the test group than it was in the control group.Conversely,the relative abundances of Haemophilus,Streptococcus,Pseudomonas,Actinomyces,TM7 X,Fusobacte

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most common malignancies and is a major cause of cancer-related mortalities worldwide(Forner et al.,2018;He et al.,2023).Sarcopenia is a syndrome characterized by an accelerated loss of skeletal muscle(SM)mass that may be age-related or the result of malnutrition in cancer patients(Cruz-Jentoft and Sayer,2019).Preoperative sarcopenia in HCC patients treated with hepatectomy or liver transplantation is an independent risk factor for poor survival(Voron et al.,2015;van Vugt et al.,2016).

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a leading cause of liver disease worldwide,with 75% of those affected distributed in the Asia-Pacific region.Approximately one million HBV-infected patients die of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) each year.If left untreated,6-20% of chronic hepatitis B (CrHB) patients will develop cirrhosis over five years.The cumulative incidence of HBV-related cirrhosis,disease progression,and prognosis are closely associated with serum HBV DNA levels.Antiviral therapy in HBV-related cirrhosis has been documented by several long-term cohort studies to decrease disease progression to hepatic decompensation and HCC.The approval and availability of oral antiviral agents with better safety profiles has greatly improved the prognosis for HBV-related cirrhosis.Here,we discuss the significance of antiviral therapy for HBV-related cirrhosis and the management of HBV-related diseases in the future.

Liver fibrosis is not an independent disease.It refers to the abnormal proliferation of connective tissues in the liver caused by various pathogenic factors.Thus far,liver fibrosis has been considered to be associated with a set of factors,such as viral infection,alcohol abuse,non-alcoholic fatty liver disease,and autoimmune hepatitis,as well as genetic diseases.To date,clinical therapeutics for liver fibrosis still face challenges,as elimination of potential causes and conventional antifibrotic drugs cannot alleviate fibrosis in most patients.Recently,potential therapeutic targets of liver fibrosis,such as metabolism,inflammation,cell death and the extracellular matrix,have been explored through basic and clinical research.Therefore,it is extremely urgent to review the antihepatic fibrosis therapeutics for treatment of liver fibrosis in current clinical trials.
