We herein report the removal of amodiaquine, an emerging drug contaminant from aqueous solution using [Zn2（fum）2（bpy）] and [Zn4 o（bdc）3]（fum = fumaric acid; bpy =4,4-bipyridine; bdc = benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate） metal–organic frameworks（MoFs） as adsorbents. The adsorbents were characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared（FT-IR） spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction（PXRD）. Adsorption process for both adsorbents were found to follow the pseudo-first-order kinetics, and the adsorption equilibrium data fitted best into the Freundlich isotherm with the R2 values of 0.973 and0.993 obtained for [Zn2（fum）2（bpy）] and [Zn4 o（bdc）3] respectively. The maximum adsorption capacities foramodiaquine in this study were found to be 0.478 and 47.62 mg/g on the[Zn2（fum）2（bpy）] and [Zn4 o（bdc）3] MoFs respectively, and were obtained at p H of 4.3 for both adsorbents. FT-IR spectroscopy analysis of the MoFs after the adsorption process showed the presence of the drug. The results of the study showed that the prepared MoFs could be used for the removal of amodiaquine from wastewater.

Plants and plant products are continuously being explored in medicine against the increasing number of antibiotic resistant organisms. The antimicrobial activity of essential oil of some plants has been demonstrated against a range of organism. This study aimed to determine the chemical constituents and the antimicrobial effects of the oil of grape peels on some clinical isolates. The oil was obtained from the peels by hydrodistillation procedure and analyzed using Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometer. The in-vitro antimicrobial property of the methanolic, ethanolic and tween 80 mixture of extract was determined by agar well diffusion method against selected clinical bacterial isolates (Bacillus cereus, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, E. coli ATCC 25292, Klebsellia pneumonia, Pseudococcus sp., Salmonella typhmurium, Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococus aureus ATCC 29213) and fungal isolates (Aspergillus niger, Candida albican, and Penicillium chrysogenum). The GC-MS analyses of the oil indicated the amount of the essential oil components was highest with D-Limonene (75.05%), followed by β-myrene (7.25%), α-pinene (2.11%), caryophyllene (1.88%), octanal (1.68) and β-phellandrene (1.18%). Some of the minor components included δ-cadinene (0.89%), copaene (0.82%), methyl phthalate (0.54%), linalool (0.48%) and 3-carene (0.21%). The oil extracts exerted different degrees of inhibitory activity against the organisms. The inhibition of the test isolates was dependent on the dissolution solvent used. Methanolic oil mixture inhibited all bacteria and fungi. Ethanol oil mixture inhibited the test bacteria and C. albicans while, the oil extract dissolved in Tween 80 solution showed no inhibitory activity on the test fungi. This study has shown that grape peels from Nigeria contain some antibiotic principles which may be explored for use in the treatment of certain diseases.

The coronavirus outbreak is the most notable world crisis since the *** pandemic that originated from Wuhan,China in late 2019 has affected all the nations of the world and triggered a global economic crisis whose impact will be felt for years to *** necessitates the need to monitor and predict CoVID-19 prevalence for adequate *** linear regression models are prominent tools in predicting the impact of certain factors on CoVID-19 outbreak and taking the necessary measures to respond to this *** data was extracted from the NCDC website and spanned from March 31,2020 to May 29,*** this study,we adopted the ordinary least squares estimator to measure the impact of travelling history and contacts on the spread of CoVID-19 in Nigeria and made a *** model was conducted before and after travel restriction was enforced by the Federal government of *** fitted model fitted well to the dataset and was free of any violation based on the diagnostic checks *** results show that the government made a right decision in enforcing travelling restriction because we observed that travelling history and contacts made increases the chances of people being infected with CoVID-19 by 85%and 88%*** prediction of CoVID-19 shows that the government should ensure that most travelling agency should have better precautions and preparations in place before re-opening.

ong>Background: ong>Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease and it is a public health concern due to the endemic nature of the disease. Nigeria’s health systems still rely heavily on out-dated tuberculosis diagnostic tests;including sputum smear microscopy and chest radiography. This necessitated the urgent need to explore a more reliable, effective method that can rapidly enhance simultaneous detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) and rifampicin (RIF) resistance. ong>Aims: ong>We evaluated the prevalence of MTB and rifampicin resistance and the influence of socio-demographic factors. ong>Methods:ong> A longitudinal, descriptive study that employs the Xpert MTB/RIF automated molecular method for rapid detection of rifampicin resistance. Secondary data were collected from the medical record from March 2017 to December 2018. Primary data were collected by direct clinical observations and analysis with gene expert machine from January 2019-March 2019. ong>Results:ong> Study populations were 1893 subjects pooled as secondary data at the Gene Expert laboratory, with a mean age of 44.92 years and were categorized based on sex, 1125 (59.4%) males and 768 (40.6%) females respectively. The MTB detected were 117 (15.7%) for males while 76 (9.9%) were positive for females. 948 (84.3%) were negative for males and 692 (90.1%) negative for females. Also, the categories for age were grouped into three but the older age groups (29 - 54) and (55 - 80) were more vulnerable to MTB having a p = 0.506 which is statistically non-significant;only 14 (5.5%) have RIF while 239 (94.5%) do not have RIF resistance strains. Logistic regression analysis of MTB detected showed a significant association (p or sex and a non-significant association (p > 0.05) for age. The presence of Total coliform, Eschericha coli and enterococci were enumerated in the cattle farming areas of the oconee Watershed using colilertTM and enterolertTM IDEXX plates, respectively. Microbial Source Tracking (MST) using Bacteroidales molecular markers for ruminant (RuBac) and human (HuBac) specific bacterial groups were used to determine the source of the fecal pollution in the watershed. In the cattle farming regions of the watershed higher levels of fecal bacteria were detected compared to the levels of fecal bacteria at the forested and residential sites. MST indicated that the cattle farming regions (except DC2) of the lake was impacted by fecal pollution from a ruminant source such as cattle. In addition, qPCR for the tuf gene of E. coli and the Stx2 gene that is commonly found in enterohemorragic E. coli o157:H7 were used to evaluate the presence of these bacteria in the study area. E. coli o157:H7 (Stx2 gene) was detected only in the beef cattle regions of the watershed. The presences of E. coli and Stx2 gene in the oconee Watershed represent a potential public health risk because Lake oconee and its tributaries are used for recreational activities as well as crop irrigation.

研究人员在新型多功能纳米材料的研发上付出了诸多努力,并将其广泛应用于生物医学领域。其中,长余辉发光材料和上转换发光材料在生物成像、生物传感和癌症治疗等领域的发展,具有潜在应用前景。但是,长余辉发光材料和上转换发光材料的开发仍然面临着一些挑战。部分长余辉发光材料中能量的耗尽可以被光激励持续发光策略恢复,但大部分长余辉发光材料充电效率差,发射强度和穿透深度仍然受到限制,满足不了在体内重复激发以便用于长期成像应用的需求;上转换发光材料内部的非辐射能量损失和其他损耗机制的存在,导致发光效率较低,并且发光时间有限。基于以上问题,可以通过发射波长在近红外第二（NIR-II）生物窗口的长余辉发光材料来解决长余辉发光穿透深度受到限制的问题;通过将长余辉发光材料和上转换发光材料的结合来解决长期成像应用的需求。在第一项工作中,我们采用水热合成法,制备了发射波长位于NIR-II生物窗口的Ni2+掺杂镓酸锌Zn1+2xGa2-2xo4:Nix2+（ZGo:Ni）长余辉发光材料,ZGo:Ni在1000～1500nm之间出现宽带发射峰。系统地研究了不同煅烧温度和p H值以及Ni2+不同掺杂比例对ZGo:Ni发光特性的影响。采用XRD、TEM、EDS、荧光光谱仪进行测试,对制备的ZGo:Ni进行了表征,并研究了其光致发光性能、余辉发光性能和发光机理。结果显示,通过优化煅烧温度和p H值以及Ni2+的掺杂量,确定了当ZGo:Ni的煅烧温度为1000℃、p H值为8、Ni2+的掺杂量1%时发光性能最佳,发射波长位于1290 nm处。在第二项工作中,我们构建了Zn Ga2o4:Ni2+/Na Er F4:Yb3+,Mn2+（ZGo:Ni/UCNPs）上转换长余辉纳米复合材料。我们采用水热合成法,制备了激发源为980 nm激光、发射波长在600-700 nm范围内的Na Er F4:Yb3+,Mn2+上转换发光材料,基于荧光共振能量转移体系,通过共价键将Zn Ga2o4:Ni2+与Na Er F4:Yb3+,Mn2+结合。所得到的复合材料用980 nm激光激活后,在1290 nm处呈现持续发光。这是由于980 nm激光激发后,Na Er F4:Yb3+,Mn2+的发射光谱与Zn Ga2o4:Ni2+的激发光谱有良好的重叠,使得Na Er F4:Yb3+,Mn2+中的Er3+和Zn Ga2o4:Ni2+中的Ni2+之间发生荧光共振能量转移。ZGo:Ni/UCNPs上转换长余辉纳米复合材料的构建,解决了光激励持续发光策略不能满足体内重复激发以供长期成像应用需求的问题。此外,因为复合材料的激发（980nm）和发射（1290 nm）波长位于生物NIR-I、NIR-II生物窗口内,适合用于深层组织的生物成像,因此,该复合材料在体内生物成像方面有巨大的应用潜力。
