Reduction of ice adhesion on nanostructured and nanoscale slippery surfaces

Ice nucleation and accretion on structural surfaces are sources of major safety and operational concerns in many industries including aviation and renewable *** methods for tackling these are active ones such as heating,ultrasound,and chemicals or passive ones such as surface *** this study,we explored the ice adhesion properties of slippery coated substrates by measuring the shear forces required to remove a glaze ice block on the coated *** the studied nanostructured and nanoscale surfaces[i.e.,a superhydrophobic coating,a fluoropolymer coating,and a polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)chain coating],the slippery omniphobic covalently attached liquid(SOCAL)surface with its flexible polymer brushes and liquid-like structure significantly reduced the ice adhesion on both glass and silicon *** studies of the SOCAL coating on roughened substrates also demonstrated its low ice *** reduction in ice adhesion is attributed to the flexible nature of the brush-like structures of PDMS chains,allowing ice to detach easily.

Breast and ovarian cancers now account for one in three cancers in Indian women and their incidence is *** differences in the clinical presentation of breast and ovarian cancers exist between India and the United *** example,Indian patients with breast cancer typically present a decade earlier than in the *** for this could be multifactorial,including differences in underlying biology,environmental risks,and other systematic factors including access to *** possible explanation lies in variable incidence or penetrance of germline mutations in genes such as BRCA1 and *** performed a methodical database and literature review to investigate the prevalence and spectrum of high-risk cancer susceptibility genes in Indian patients with breast and ovarian *** identified 148 articles,but most studies were small,with inconsistent inclusion criteria and based on heterogeneous technologies,so that mutation frequency could not be reliably *** were also often lacking on penetrance,histopathology,and survival *** filtering out unsuitable studies,only 13 remained,comprising 1028 ***-scale research studies are urgently needed to determine mutation prevalence,spectra,and clinico-pathological features,and hence derive guidelines for screening,treatment,and prevention specific to the Indian population.
