Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD),once known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),represents a spectrum of liver disorders characterized by lipid accumulation within *** redefinition of NAFLD in 2023 marked a significant reposition in terminology,emphasizing a broader understanding of liver steatosis and its associated *** is now recognized as a major risk factor for liver cirrhosis,hepatocellular carcinoma,and systemic complications such as cardiovascular diseases or systemic *** challenges arise,particularly in identifying MASLD in lean individuals,necessitating updated diagnostic protocols and investing in non-invasive diagnostic ***,there is an urgent need for effective treatments targeting MASLD,with emerging pharmacological options focusing on,among others,carbohydrate and lipid ***,understanding the roles of bile acid metabolism,the microbiome,and dietary interventions in MASLD pathogenesis and management holds promise for innovative therapeutic *** is a strong need to emphasize the importance of collaborative efforts in understanding,diagnosing,and managing MASLD to improve physicians’approaches and patient outcomes.

Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide used for managing the Asian citrus psyllid,Diaphorina citri Kuwayama,which serves as vector of phytopathogens causing citrus ***,development of resistance to neonicotinoids among populations of *** has coincided with occasional control failures in the *** objectives of this research were to(1)survey current levels of imidacloprid resistance in Florida citrus;(2)compare feeding behavior between imidacloprid-resistant and susceptible *** using electrical penetration graph recordings,and(3)investigate the possible amplification of insecticide hormoligosis associated with *** surveys confirmed that the susceptibility of *** populations to imidacloprid has decreased in commercial Florida citrus groves compared with a laboratory-susceptible *** 12 generations of selection,resistance to imidacloprid increased by 438 fold compared with the susceptible ***-susceptible *** feeding on citrus exhibited significantly more bouts associated with intercellular pathway(C),phloem penetration(D),phloem salivation(E1),and nonprobing(Np)activities than imidacloprid-resistant ***,there were no differences observed in the frequency or duration of phloem ingestion or xylem feeding between susceptible and resistant *** was no statistical difference in fecundity between resistant and susceptible ***,the fecundity of imidacloprid-susceptible female *** treated with a sublethal concentration of imidacloprid(LC_(25))increased significantly compared with controls,while such hormoligosis was less pronounced among imidacloprid-resistant *** results suggest that imidacloprid-resistant psyllids may cease feeding sooner than susceptible counterparts following sublethal exposure to this insecticide,indicative of a behavioral resistance mechanism.

This paper presents a criterion for high-cycle fatigue life and fatigue strength estimation under periodic proportional and non-proportional cyclic loading. The criterion is based on the mean and maximum values of the second invariant of the stress deviator. Important elements of the criterion are： function of the non-proportionality of fatigue loading and the materials parameter that expresses the materials sensitivity to non-proportional loading. The methods for the materials parameters determination uses three S–N curves： tension–compression, torsion, and any non-proportional loading proposed. The criterion has been verified using experimental data, and the results are included in the paper. These results should be considered as promising. The paper also includes a proposal for multiaxial fatigue models classification due to the approach for the nonproportionality of loading.

A finite GrSbner-Shirshov basis is constructed for the plactic algebra of rank 3 over a field K. It is also shown that plactic algebras of rank exceeding 3 do not have finite GrSbner-Shirshov bases associated to the natural degree-lexicographic ordering on the corresponding free algebra. The latter is in contrast with the case of a strongly related class of algebras, called Chinese algebras.

Tellurite glasses with the composition of xTm2O3-(6-x)Y2O3-3Na2O-25ZnO-66TeO2(where 0≤x≤6)were obtained by the melt-quenching ***(300 K),excitation(300 K)and fluorescence spectra(300 K)as well as fluorescence decay curves of Tm^3+-doped title glasses are presented and discussed in *** Judd-Ofelt analysis based on the room temperature absorption spectrum was applied for determination of fundamental fluorescence properties such as radiative transition probabilities(AT),branching ratios(βR),radiative lifetimes(τR)of the emitting levels of the Tm^3+ion and stimulated emission cross-sections(σem).Fluorescence spectra were recorded and analysed in the visible and near-infrared spectral *** emission and effective cross-section were calculated for the 3F4→3H6 transition,showing that the investigated glasses are promising laser host materials,operating at 1.8μ*** observed concentration quenching and non-exponential decay curves from the 1 G4 and 3H4 states indicate nonradiative energy transfer between Tm^3+*** analysis of non-exponential fluorescence decay curves from the 1 G4 and 3H4 levels was carried out in framework of the InokutiHirayama and Yokota-Tanimoto models and energy transfer microparameters were *** self-quenching model was proposed for describing relaxation of the first excited state of the Tm^3+ion.

Melanoma of the gastrointestinal tract is a rare, highly malignant neoplasm of poor prognosis. This is description of an unusual case of surgically treated patient with two metachronous malignant melanomas of the stomach and the esophagus. The former lesion was located in the cardia and effectively treated with RO total gastrectomy. The latter was recognized after 67 mo and appeared as irregular, flat, pigmented areas located in the mid esophagus. Subtotal esophagectomy via right-sided thoracotomy, laparotomy and left-sided cervicotomy was performed, but neoplastic cells were found in distal margin (R1). Fourteen months after esophagectomy multiple lung metastases were detected. *** 2 mo later.

Structural health monitoring （SHM） has become a hot and intensively researched field in civil engineering. Thereinto, damage identification play an important role in maintaining structural integrity and safety. Many effective methods have been proposed for damage identification. However, accurate global identification of large real-world structures is not easy due to their com- plex and often unknown boundary conditions, nonlinear components, insensitivity of glohal response to localized damages, etc. Furthermore, global identification often requires lots of sensors and involves large number of unknowns. This is costly, rarely feasible in practice, and usually yields severely ill-conditioned identification problems. Substructuring approach is a possible solution： substructuring methods can focus on local small substructures; they need only a few sensors placed on the substruc- ture and yield smaller and numerically much more feasible identification problems. This paper proposed an improved sub- structure method using local free response for substructure damage identification. The virtual supports are constructed by Sub- structure Isolation Method （SIM） using the linear combination of the substructural responses. The influence of the global errors is isolated by adding the virtual supports on the main degree of freedoms （DOFs） of the substructure. Through the correlation analysis, the substructural modes are selected and used for damage identification of the substructure. A plain model of cable stayed bridge is used for the verification of the proposed method.

Controlling calcium and phosphate ion release of 3D printed bioactive ceramic scaffolds: An in vitro study

This paper characterizes in an in vitro setting the release of calcium (Ca) and phosphate (PO4) of 3D printed bioactive ceramic scaffold prepared from extrudable paste containing hydroxyapatite and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP).Hydroxyapatite and β-TCP were calcined at 800℃ for 11 h,fabricated into four experimental groups (100％ HA,100％ β-TCP,15％/85％ HA/β-TCP,and 15％/85％ HA/β-TCP (design)),sintered to 1100 ℃ for 4 *** and phosphorus concentrations were evaluated using ICP spectroscopy,and the release of Ca and PO4 ions during dissolution of the CaP-based scaffolds was measured by submerging in 0.05 mol/L Tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane-HC1 and maintaining a temperature of 37 ℃.The Ca and PO4 concentrations of the solutions were measured with the utilization of a calcium assay kit and a phosphate assay kit and read in a UV-visible *** 100％ HA scaffold group showed the greatest concentration of Ca ions (～1.9 mg/dL),but ultimately released at a lower amount as time increased;the 100％ HA scaffold also showed the lowest total amount of calcium ions released over the course of *** results for the 100％ β-TCP were on the opposite of the HA with the highest amount of calcium ion release over the *** the PO4 ion release showed a similar trend as those observed with Ca ions with an apparent difference in the 100％ HA scaffold *** was nearly 0 mg/dL of the phosphate ions released in the first 24 h,in comparison to the amount of Ca ions released during the same time *** various formulations can lead to different properties of these bioactive ceramic scaffolds,it is important to understand how the tailoring of this important biphasic material can impact the long-term outcome of an ever-important in vivo clinical trial in the future.
