Significant genomic introgression from grey junglefowl(Gallus sonneratii)to domestic chickens(Gallus gallus domesticus)

Background Chicken is one of the most numerous and widely distributed species around the world,and many studies support the multiple ancestral origins of domestic *** research regarding the yellow skin phenotype in domestic chickens(regulated by BCO2)likely originating from the grey junglefowl serves as crucial evidence for demonstrating the multiple origins of ***,beyond the BCO2 gene region,much remains unknown about the introgression from the grey junglefowl into domestic ***,in this study,based on wholegenome data of 149 samples including 4 species of wild junglefowls and 13 local domestic chicken breeds,we explored the introgression events from the grey junglefowl to domestic *** We successfully detected introgression regions besides BCO2,including two associated with growth trait(IGFBP2 and TKT),one associated with angiogenesis(TIMP3)and two members of the heat shock protein family(HSPB2 and CRYAB).Our findings suggest that the introgression from the grey junglefowl may impact the growth performance of ***,we revealed introgression events from grey junglefowl at the BCO2 region in multiple domestic chicken breeds,indicating a phenomenon where the yellow skin phenotype likely underwent strong selection and was ***,our haplotype analysis shed light on BCO2 introgression event from different sources of grey junglefowl into domestic chickens,possibly suggesting multiple genetic flows between the grey junglefowl and domestic *** In summary,our findings provide evidences of the grey junglefowl contributing to the genetic diversity of domestic chickens,laying the foundation for a deeper understanding of the genetic composition within domestic chickens,and offering new perspectives on the impact of introgression on domestic chickens.

Background Geese are among the most important poultry species in the *** current generally accepted hypothesis is that the European domestic geese originated from greylag geese(Anser anser),and Chinese domestic geese have two origins,most of which originated from swan geese(Anser cygnoides),and the Yili goose originated from greylag *** explain the origin and demographic history of geese,we selected 14 goose breeds from Europe and China and wild populations of swan and greylag geese,and whole genome sequencing data were obtained for 74 *** Population structure analysis and phylogenetic trees showed that the wild ancestor of Chinese domestic geese,except for Yili,is the swan geese,and the wild ancestor of Chinese Yili and European domestic geese is greylag *** of the demographic history suggests that the domestication of Chinese geese occurred~3499 years ago and that of the European geese occurred~7552 years ***,gene flow was observed between domestic geese and their wild *** of introgression showed that Yili geese had been introgressed by Chinese domestic geese,and the body size of Yili geese may be influenced by introgression events of some growthrelated genes,including *** Our study provides evidence for the origin of geese at the genome-wide level and advances the understanding of the history of goose domestication and the traits affected by introgression events.

Correlation analysis of the total IgY level in hen serum, egg yolk and offspring serum

The correlation between IgY levels of the serum and the yolk has been well documented in wild and domestic birds. The levels of total yolk IgY can be an index of the general health status of birds and may contribute to breeding programs when fitness of the offspring is a concern. We measured the levels of total serum IgY and yolk IgY in three different breeds （White Leghorn, Silkie and Dongxiang blue-shell） using indirect ELISA, and found that there was a significantly positive correlation between the levels of total serum IgY and total yolk IgY in all three breeds （White Leghorn： r = 0.404, P 〈 0.001, n = 100; Silkie： r = 0.561, P 〈 0.001, n = 70; Dongxiang blue-shell： r = 0.619, P 〈 0.001, n = 30）. We also measured the total serum IgY levels in the 3-day-old offspring hatched from the Silkie hens and results were significantly correlated for serum IgY levels （r = 0.535, P 〈 0.001, n = 70） and the yolk IgY levels （r = 0.481, P 〈 0.001, n = 70）. The regression analysis showed simple linear regression between IgY levels in hen serum, yolk and offspring serum. Our results suggest that total IgY level could be used as an index for chicken fitness.

Transcriptome responses to heat stress in hypothalamus of a meat-type chicken

Background： Heat stress has resulted in great losses in poultry production. To address this issue, we systematically analyzed chicken hypothalamus transcriptome responses to thermal stress using a 44 k chicken Agilent microarray, Methods： Hypothalamus samples were collected from a control group reared at 25℃, a heat-stress group treated at 34℃ for 24 h, and a temperature-recovery group reared at 25℃ for 24 h following a heat-stress treatment. We compared the expression profiles between each pair of the three groups using microarray data. Results： A total of 1,967 probe sets were found to be differentially expressed in the three comparisons with P 〈 0.05 and a fold change （FC） higher than 1.5, and the genes were mainly involved in self-regulation and compensation required to maintain homeostasis. Consistent expression results were found for 11 selected genes by quantitative real-time PCR. Thirty-eight interesting differential expression genes were found from GO term annotation and those genes were related to meat quality, growth, and crucial enzymes. Using these genes for genetic network analysis, we obtained three genetic networks. Moreover, the transcripts of heat-shock protein, including Hsp 40 and Hsp 90, were significantly altered in response to thermal stress. Conclusions： This study provides a broader understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying stress response in chickens and discovery of novel genes that are regulated in a specific thermal-stress manner.

Flat jet electrochemical milling of TC4 alloy with tailoring backward parallel flow

In flat jet electrochemical milling, the electrolyte forms a backward parallel flow after impacting the workpiece, resulting in a weak current density distribution on the workpiece. Poor surface quality usually occurs on the machined titanium alloy surface because it inevitably suffers from the weak current density. In this study, a method of flat jet electrochemical milling with tailoring the backward parallel flow was proposed to eliminate the negative effects caused by the weak current density. Multiphysics simulations are carried out to comprehend the mechanism of flat jetEC milling with tailoring backward parallel flow and better construct the novel tool *** on flat jet electrochemical milling of TC4 alloy with and without tailoring backward parallel flow are conducted. The results reveal that, compared with flat jet electrochemical milling without tailoring backward parallel flow, the recommended tool reduces the surface roughness by86% to 93%, and improves the material removal rate by 93% to 163% with different feed ***, the recommended tool is more conducive to maintaining the inherent hardness of the material. Finally, a surface with low Sa of 0.37 μm is obtained.

The mission of“Establishment of Zero-Pollution Earth”defined by United Nations Environment Programme aims at creation of a clean,safe and prosperous home for all human *** is of rational choice from each individual to protect our environment and demonstrates our great ambition to achieve our *** key message given in this article is that,zero pollution does not mean no discharge of pollutants and instead it can be achievable through optimizing and controlling a sound balance between pollutants discharge and capacities of decontamination through treatment and natural environmental accumulation,which can be termed as“Principle of Equilibrium”between pollution and *** on this principle,we propose and illustrate several key factors and synergistic pathways toward a pollution-free planet:quantitative determination on purification and wastewater;source control through green measures;minimization of negative side-effects;precise management through digitalized systems;and keeping sound balance between pollutants and natural *** should be noted that we would face a series of difficulties and challenges in moving forward to“Zero-Pollution Earth”.We should further develop theories,principles and tools to achieve the balance between quantity of pollutants and decontamination *** should work together to break through the bottleneck limited by“Principle of equilibrium”to establish new environmental remediation systems leading to“Zero-Pollution Earth”.

Different Types of Bone Fractures Observed by Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy

Microcracks are common in compact bone,but their continued propagation can lead to macroscopic *** microcracks cannot be visualized radiographically,necessitating alternative noninvasive methods to identify excessive microcracking and prevent *** this study,terahertz time-domain spectroscopy(THz-TDS)was used to examine bone interiors near cracks resulting from loading in bovine tibia *** loading configurations,such as impact,quasi-static loading,and fatigue loading,known to induce different types of micro-scale damage,were *** values of refractive index and absorption coefficient of the bone samples were then determined from the THz-TDS spectra acquired before loading and after *** study revealed that different loading configurations led to varying terahertz optical coefficients associated with various types of bone ***,the refractive index notably increased under fatigue loading but remained relatively stable during quasi-static *** absorption coefficient of bone decreased only under fatigue ***,samples were subjected to axial and radial impacts without sustaining *** indicated that in the undamaged state,the change in refractive index was smaller compared to after impact failure,while the change in absorption coefficient remained consistent after *** radial impact loading,changes in refractive index and absorption coefficient were significantly more pronounced than under axial *** to loading,the measured value of refractive index was 2.72±0.11,and the absorption coefficient was 6.33±0.09 mm^(−1)at 0.5 THz.

Physiological and psychological responses to tended plant communities with varying color characteristics

Exposure to plants has been reported to promote health and reduce stress,and plant color has direct impacts on physical and mental *** used images of common types of tended plant communities in Shenyang,China,with combinations of yellow,green,and red foliage,as experimental stimuli.A total of 27 images were used as visual *** used electroencephalography to measureαwave activity(8-13 Hz)in 40 subjects while they viewed visual *** data were combined with subjective questionnaire data to analyze the relaxing effect of images of tended plant communities with different color types and proportions on *** results revealed that,although there were slight differences between the electroencephalography and psychological findings,women were significantly more relaxed than men after viewing the *** and psychological responses varied with the types and proportions of colors in the tended plant communities:those of foliage with combinations of two or three colors induced stronger responses than images with a single ***,(1)for one-color plant communities,green or yellow plant communities induced a stronger relaxation effect than red plant communities;(2)for two-color plant communities,the optimal color proportion was 55%+45%,and the green+yellow and green+red color combinations induced a stronger relaxation effect;(3)for three-color plant communities,the relaxation effect was strongest when the color proportion was 55%green+25%yellow+20%*** data would provide a plant color matching in future plant landscape design,which may be helpful for creating healthy and relaxing environments.

The Chinese express delivery industry processes nearly 110 billion items in 2022,averaging an annual growth rate of 200%.Among the various types of sorting systems used for handling express items,cross-belt sorting systems stand out as the most ***,despite their high degree of automation,the workload for operators has intensified owing to the surging volume of express *** the era of Industry 5.0,it is imperative to adopt new technologies that not only enhance worker welfare but also improve the efficiency of cross-belt *** a balance between efficiency in handling express items and operator well-being is *** twin technology offers a promising solution in this respect.A realization method of a human-machine integrated digital twin is proposed in this study,enabling the interaction of biological human bodies,virtual human bodies,virtual equipment,and logistics equipment in a closed loop,thus setting an operating *** technologies in the proposed framework include a collection of heterogeneous data from multiple sources,construction of the relationship between operator fatigue and operation efficiency based on physiological measurements,virtual model construction,and an online optimization module based on real-time *** feasibility of the proposed method was verified in an express distribution center.
