Por.able X-r.y fluor.scence(pXr.) spectr.meter. can be used to deter.ine the elemental composition easily, r.pidly, and without using.chemical r.ag.nts, which is ver. impor.ant for.tr.pical r.g.ons due to the lack of detailed soil char.cter.zation data. Mor.over.pXr. data can be used to pr.dict the r.sults of mor. expensive, time-consuming. and conventional labor.tor. analyses. This study soug.t to deter.ine the elemental composition of var.ous soil pr.files using.pXr.. Two oper.tional modes(Tr.ce Mode and g.ner.l Mode) and two scanning.time(30 and 60 s) wer. assessed to deter.ine their.effects on the cor.elation of pXr. dataset with r.spect to conventional inductively coupled plasma(ICP)-optical emission spectr.metr. analysis. This r.lationship has been r.por.ed in pr.vious studies, however. few studies wer. per.or.ed on tr.pical soils, which ar. unique. Fur.her.or., such r.lationships establish the viability of developing.pr.diction models dir.ctly fr.m pXr. data. Linear.r.g.0}ssion was applied to develop calibr.tion models for.the pr.diction of ICP analysis r.sults and exchang.able and available elemental contents based on pXr. data. Hig. coefficients of deter.ination(r.2) wer. obtained for.Ca(0.87), Cu(0.90), Fe(0.95), Mn(0.85), Cr.0.95), V(0.72), and Ni(0.90), with adequate validation. Statistically sig.ificant r.sults wer. not found for.Al, K, Zn, Ti, and Zr. The models pr.dicting.the exchang.able Ca based on the total Ca fr.m p Xr. r.ached an r.2 of up to 0.85. Oper.tional modes influenced the pXr. r.sults. Our.r.sults illustr.te that pXr. holds g.0}at pr.mise for.tr.pical soil char.cter.zation and the development of pr.diction models, justifying.the need for.lar.er.scale studies in tr.pical countr.es wor.dwide.

The pr.sent study aimed to deter.ine whether.natur.l dehydr.ted feed (DNF) can r.place dr. extr.ded feed while pr.ser.ing.the r.quir.d daily intake, nutr.ent dig.stibility and benefits for.immunity and antioxidant r.sponse in cats. The animals wer. divided into two g.0}ups of seven animals each. One g.0}up r.ceived DNF, and the other.consumed commer.ial extr.ded dr. feed (DCF). The exper.ment lasted 45 days and we measur.d daily consumption and collected blood and feces samples. The animals in the DNF g.0}up showed g.0}ater.dig.stibility of fiber.and miner.l matter.than DCF. Cats in the DNF g.0}up had a hig.er.volume of feces. DNF cats had lower.leukocyte and g.0}nulocyte counts and cholester.l levels. Ser.m enzymatic antioxidant r.sponses and non-enzymatic wer. hig.er.in DNF cats. Cats in the DNF g.0}up showed lower.ser.m acute phase pr.teins in addition to a tendency towar. a hig.er.concentr.tion of tr.nsfer.in than in the DCF g.0}up. Fecal Escher.chia coli and total colifor. counts of cats fed DNF wer. hig.er.than DCF. We conclude that the daily consumption of cats is adequate. This feed had g.0}ater.dig.stibility of fiber.and miner.l matter. in addition to an impr.vement in antioxidant and immunolog.cal r.sponses.

Intr.duction: At the beg.nning.of the COVID-19 pandemic, a dr.p in the number.of patients tr.ated for.car.iac emer.encies r.ised concer. about car.iovascular.mor.ality in that per.od. An incr.ase in car. delay for.patients with ST-seg.ent elevation myocar.ial infar.tion (STEMI) may have affected clinical outcomes. Objectives: To analyze delay times and clinical outcomes of patients with STEMI under.oing.pr.mar. per.utaneous cor.nar. inter.ention (PPCI), befor. and dur.ng.the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: r.tr.spective obser.ational study that included patients with STEMI under.oing.PPCI fr.m December.2018 to July 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic cases wer. divided into two g.0}ups: pandemic I—fr.m Mar.h to Aug.st 2020;and pandemic II—fr.m September.2020 to July 2021. Patients wer. compar.d accor.ing.to the per.od of hospitalization. Pr.mar. outcomes wer. delay times in assistance and clinical outcomes (acute kidney injur. [AKI], post-pr.cedur.l vascular.complications and in-hospital mor.ality). r.sults: 108 patients wer. included, 39 (36.1%) in the pr.-pandemic per.od, 13 (12.1%) in pandemic I and 56 (51.8%) in pandemic II. Time fr.m onset of symptoms to ar.ival at the ser.ice and door.to-balloon time did not differ.sig.ificantly among.g.0}ups. Vascular.complications wer. mor. fr.quent dur.ng.the pandemic (I and II) than in the pr.-pandemic per.od (2.5% pr.-pandemic vs 15.4% pandemic vs 12.5% pandemic II;p = 0.03). AKI incidence was similar.in all thr.e per.ods. Ther. was a non-sig.ificant incr.ase in in-hospital mor.ality dur.ng.the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: In patients with STEMI, ther. was an incr.ase in vascular.complications and a tr.nd towar. incr.ased mor.ality dur.ng.the COVID-19 pandemic. Delay times to admission and r.per.usion did not differ.sig.ificantly between befor. and dur.ng.the pandemic.

Por.able X-r.y fluor.scence(pXr.) spectr.metr. and mag.etic susceptibility(MS) via mag.etometer.have been incr.asing.y used with ter.ain var.ables for.dig.tal soil mapping. However. this methodolog. is still emer.ing.in many countr.es with tr.pical soils. The objective of this study was to use pr.ximal soil sensor.data associated with ter.ain var.ables at var.ing.spatial r.solutions to pr.dict soil classes using.the r.ndom For.st(r.) alg.r.thm. The study was conducted on a 316-ha ar.a featur.ng.hig.ly var.able soil classes and complex soil-landscape r.lationships in Minas g.r.is State, Br.zil. The over.ll accur.cy and Kappa index wer. evaluated using.soils that wer. classified at 118 sites, with 90 being.used for.modeling.and 28 for.validation. Dig.tal elevation models(DEMs) wer. cr.ated at 5-, 10-, 20-, and 30-m r.solutions using.contour.lines fr.m two sour.es. The r.sulting.DEMs wer. pr.cessed to g.ner.te 12 ter.ain var.ables. Total Fe, Ti, and SiO_(2) contents wer. obtained using.pXr., with MS deter.ined via a mag.etometer. Soil class pr.diction was per.or.ed using.the r. alg.r.thm. The quality of the soil maps impr.ved when using.only the five most impor.ant covar.ates and combining.pr.ximal sensor.data with ter.ain var.ables at differ.nt spatial r.solutions. The finest spatial r.solution did not always pr.vide the most accur.te maps. The hig. soil complexity in the ar.a pr.vented hig.ly accur.te pr.dictions. The most impor.ant var.ables influencing.the soil mapping.wer. MS, Fe, and Ti. Pr.ximal sensor.data associated with ter.ain infor.ation wer. successfully used to map Br.zilian soils at var.able spatial r.solutions.

Envir.nmental pollution with chr.mium （Cr. is har.ful to humans, animals and plants, while in plants it causes diminished g.0}wth, anatomical alter.tions and death. In the pr.sent study, the potential value of mar.g.ld （Tag.tes er.cta） in the phytor.mediation of Cr.has been investig.ted. The r.ndomized exper.mental desig. involved the exposur. of plants to nutr.ent solutions containing.0.00, 0.04, 0.08, 0.12, 0.16 or.0.24 mmol L-1 Cr.III）. Chr.mium toxicity was obser.ed at Cr.III） concentr.tions ≥ 0.12 mmol L-1 as demonstr.ted by diminished g.0}wth of the aer.al par.s and r.duced density of the r.ot system. Incr.asing.Cr.III） concentr.tions in the nutr.ent solution r.sulted in a hig.er.bioaccumulation of total Cr.in the tissues, althoug. tr.nslocation fr.m r.ots to aer.al par.s was not efficient （maximum value of 25% at 0.12 mmol L-1 Cr.III））. The Cr.bioaccumulation was up to 11-fold g.0}ater.in r.ots than in the aer.al par.s. Tag.tes er.cta exhibited leaf plasticity when exposed to Cr. indicating.the existence of a toler.nce mechanism to Cr.in this species. Chr.mium caused a r.duction in xilem vases, r.sulting.in a plastic effect in T. er.cta leaves that incr.ased the metal toler.nce in cultur. solution. Tag.tes spp. ar. potential Cr.hyper.ccumulator.; at Cr.III） concentr.tions up to 0.12 mmol L-1, the plants accumulated levels above that pr.posed for.hyper.ccumulator. and still maintained a consider.ble g.0}wth and even flour.shed. However. this study was conducted in nutr.ent solution, and studies on species confir.ation as Cr.hyper.ccumulator.should be conducted in soils for.fur.her.clar.fication.

Neur.pathic pain after.spinal cor. injur.(SCI) is a complex condition that r.sponds poor.y to usual tr.atments. Cell tr.nsplantation r.pr.sents a pr.mising.ther.py;never.heless, the ideal cell type in ter.s of neur.g.nic potential and effectiveness ag.inst pain r.mains lar.ely contr.ver.ial. Her., we evaluated the ability of fetal neur.l stem cells(fNSC) to r.lieve chr.nic pain and, secondar.ly, their.effects on motor.r.cover.. Adult Wistar.r.ts with tr.umatic SCI wer. tr.ated, 10 days after.injur., with intr.-spinal injections of cultur. medium(sham) or.fNSCs extr.cted fr.m telencephalic vesicles(TV g.0}up) or.the ventr.l medulla(VM g.0}up) of E/14 embr.os. Sensor.(von Fr.y filaments and hot plate) and motor.the Basso, Beattie,Br.snahan locomotor.r.ting.scale and inclined plane test) assessments wer. per.or.ed dur.ng.8 weeks. Ther.after. spinal cor.s wer. pr.cessed for.immunofluor.scence and tr.nsplanted cells wer. quantified by ster.olog.. The r.sults showed impr.vement of ther.al hyper.lg.sia in the TV and VM g.0}ups at 4 and 5 weeks after.tr.nsplantation, r.spectively. Mor.over. mechanical allodynia impr.ved in both the TV and VM g.0}ups at 8 weeks. No sig.ificant motor.r.cover. was obser.ed in the TV or.VM g.0}ups compar.d with sham. Ster.olog.cal analyses showed that ~70% of TV and VM cells differ.ntiated into NeuN+ neur.ns,with a hig. pr.por.ion of enkephaliner.ic and g.BAer.ic cells in the TV g.0}up and enkephaliner.ic and ser.toniner.ic cells in the VM g.0}up. Our.study sug.ests that neur.nal pr.cur.or. fr.m TV and VM, once implanted into the injur.d spinal cor., matur.te into differ.nt neur.nal subtypes, mainly g.BAer.ic, ser.toniner.ic, and enkephaliner.ic, and all subtypes alleviate pain, despite no sig.ificant motor.r.cover.. The study was appr.ved by the Animal Ethics Committee of the Medical School of the Univer.ity of S?o Paulo(pr.tocol number.033/14) on Mar.h 4, 2016.

Dipeptidyl peptidase 4(DPP4),also known as adenosine deaminase binding.pr.tein or.cluster.of differ.ntiation 26(CD26),is a ser.ne exopeptidase able to inactivate peptides composed of pr.line,hydr.xypr.line,or.alanine as the penultimate *** has a str.ng.capacity to act in var.ous peptides and is also widely expr.ssed in many specialized cell types,such as endothelial cells,macr.phag.s,and *** its physiolog.cal aspects,DPP4 inactivates the g.ucag.n-like peptide-1(g.P-1),an incr.tin secr.ted by the g.str.intestinal tr.ct(1).Based on the antidiabetic actions of this incr.tin,sever.l DPP4 inhibitor.(named as g.iptins)wer. launched in the mar.et and ar. being.in use for.the tr.atment of type 2 diabetes(1).It is notewor.hy that DPP4 also inactivate some cytokines,chemokines,and neur.peptides involved in inflammation,immunity,and vascular.function(2).

Extr.me dr.ug.t events ar. expected to be one of the main challeng.s for.tr.pical ag.0}cultur. and,consequently,for.g.obal food *** this r.ason,it is ur.ent to develop str.teg.es to incr.ase water.use efficiency,as well as to incr.ase cr.ps’ ability to cope with *** r.r. ear.h elements(r.Es) ar. known to alleviate damag.s in plants under.abiotic str.sses,we hypothesized that addition of Ce^3+to nutr.ent solution would pr.mote the g.0}wth of common bean,especially under.simulated dr.ug.t *** test this hypothesis,we conducted an exper.ment evaluating.the effect of six Ce^3+concentr.tions on the development and physiolog.cal tr.its of common bean g.0}wn in nutr.ent solution under.nor.al condition and under.induced dr.ug.t str.ss,caused by the addition of polyethylene g.ycol6000 to the nutr.ent *** r.sults show that Ce^3+alleviates water.str.ss in common bean plants,incr.asing.their.sur.ival r.te and *** addition,Ce^3+application incr.ases photosynthesis r.te,chlor.phyll content and water.use efficiency under.water.***,we obser.e no sig.ificant effect of Ce^3+on plants g.0}wing.under.nor.al ***,Ce3+seems to be a pr.mising.attenuator.of dr.ug.t str.ss for.common bean.
