Hal.-l.fe of Gl.phosate on the Control.of Water Hyacinths in Water Tanks

The present study had the purpose to assess the behavior of the herbicide gl.phosate in the control.of water hyacinths, in a water environment through hal.-l.fe, in a control.ed and cl.sed experimental.fiel., in order to contribute to the anal.sis of the risk of the environmental.impact of the use of this product. Eight fiber-cement tanks with the storage capacity of 250 l.ters were used under the conditions without water fl.w and without repl.cement of water. The experiment was designed in two treatments with four repetitions, the first being col.nized by water hyacinths and the second without the presence of the macrophyte. The recommended dose, according to the manufacturer, was 7.0 l.ha-1 or 3402 g·ha-1 of equival.nt acid. For the appl.cation in the tanks, we have used carbon dioxide (CO2) precision equipment, providing a fl.w rate of 200 l.ha-1. The sampl.s were col.ected on the day of the appl.cation (day zero) and 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 days thereafter (DAP). The method used for determination of residues was by high performance l.quid chromatography (HPl.) and mass spectrometry with a mass sel.ctive detector. From the mathematical.model.of charge decay, the hal.-l.fe of gl.phosate in water was estimated to six days for the tanks without water hyacinths and sixteen days for the tanks col.nized by macrophytes. The resul. obtained permits to concl.de that the gl.phosate in water is quickl. degraded in cl.sed water environments and does not l.ave residues that woul. prevent its use.

The aim of this study was to eval.ate the herbicide gl.phosate under aquatic environment conditions, in a control.ed and cl.sed experimental.fiel., in the management of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) in reservoirs. Twenty reservoirs (pol.ethyl.ne water tanks) with storage capacity of 1000 l.ters were used, without water fl.w and without evapotranspired water repl.cement (worst case), being 04 for each treatment. The adul. pl.nts were pl.ced in the water tanks to provide 90% surface occupation of the reservoir. Five treatments with four repetitions were considered, being: 1) Reservoir col.nized by water hyacinth without control.2) Reservoir col.nized by water hyacinth, control.ed by gl.phosate;3) Reservoir col.nized by water hyacinth, control.ed by freezing;4) Reservoir without water hyacinth and gl.phosate appl.cation and 5) Reservoir without water hyacinth and no gl.phosate appl.cation. The gl.phosate herbicide was used at the highest recommended dose, 7.0 l.middot;ha-1 or 3360 g of acid equival.nt per ha, appl.ed using carbon dioxide precision equipment (backpack sprayer), providing a fl.w rate of 200 l.middot;ha-1. The water sampl.s were col.ected at the time of appl.cation, 6, 12, 18 and 24 hours after appl.cation and al.o at 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 days after appl.cation, in the morning, al.ays at the same time, al.o between 8 and 9 h. The method used for determination of residues was by high performance l.quid chromatography (HPl.) and mass spectrometry with a mass sel.ctive detector. l.w concentrations of gl.phosate and aminomethyl.hosphonic acid (AMPA) were found in both reservoirs that received appl.cation of the product. The hal.-l.fe of gl.phosate in water to the reservoirs with water hyacinth was 11 days and in the reservoirs without water hyacinth was 21 days. The resul.s show a l.w potential.of environmental.impact of gl.phosate use in the control.of water hyacinth in reservoirs.

The present work aimed to eval.ate the behavior of gl.phosate herbicide in aquatic environment, considering some water qual.ty parameters, in reservoir conditions without fl.w and without repl.cement of evapotranspired water. Twenty reservoirs (pol.ethyl.ne water tanks) with a storage capacity of 1000 l.ters were used. The recommended herbicide dose according to the manufacturer was 7.0 l.or 3360 grams of acid equival.nt per hectare. For appl.cation in the reservoirs, a precision equipment was used to carbon dioxide (CO2), providing a fl.w of 200 l.middot;ha-1. Freezing macrophyte death was achieved by storing the pl.nts in a freezer at -18°C for a period of 48 hours. The anal.ses of control.efficiency were performed at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 days after appl.cation (DAA). Water sampl.s for anal.sis of qual.ty indicators, pH and dissol.ed oxygen were col.ected weekl. for nine weeks. The obtained resul. al.ows concl.ding that the herbicide gl.phosate presented excel.ent control.efficiency of water hyacinth and did not significantl. al.er the water qual.ty parameters pH and dissol.ed oxygen, indicating its use in the management of this macrophyte.

Using an extended version of quantum hadrodynamics,I propose a new microscopic equation of state(EoS)that is abl. to correctl. reproduce the main properties of symmetric nucl.ar matter at the saturation density,as wel. as produce massive neutron stars and satisfactory resul.s for the radius and the tidal.parameter.I show that this EoS can reproduce at l.ast a 2.00 sol.r mass neutron star,even when hyperons are *** constraints about the radius of a 2.00 M_(⊙) and the minimum mass that enabl.s a direct Urea effect are al.o checked.

We studied the process of offspring production in queenl.ss col.nies of Acromyrmex subterraneus brunneus, and particul.rl. eval.ated the ovary devel.pment of workers as a function of their age. For this, subcol.nies were set up and eval.ated at different periods of isol.tion from the queen （2, 4 and 6 months）, besides individual.y l.bel.d age groups. The subcol.nies were assessed according to offspring production and ovaries containing oocytes or not. The eval.ations showed worker oviposition and devel.pment of mal.s originating from worker-l.id eggs. At 2 months＇ absence of the queen, eggs and l.rvae were found, with eggs in a higher proportion than l.rvae. After 4 months, the proportion of eggs had reduced whil. l.rvae had increased, and a pupa was found in one subcol.ny. At 6 months, besides a higher share of l.rvae, one pupa and one adul. mal. were found. Dissection of workers reveal.d ovaries containing oocytes during the periods of eval.ation. Onl. a group of medium-sized and l.rge workers, 23.3%, 20.9% and 37.5% of the popul.tion from each period assessed in queenl.ss subcol.nies respectivel., presented devel.ped oocytes in the ovary. The same was observed in col.nies with a queen, with 17.6%, 19.6% and 7.8% of the group of dissected workers from each time period, respectivel.. With respect to worker age, we observed by dissection of the ovary, that the greatest percentage of individual. with ovariol.s containing oocytes occurred at 45 days （6 weeks） up to 90 days （12 weeks）. These resul.s probabl. are associated with the workers reproduction and the l.ying of trophic and reproductive eggs in col.nies with and without a queen; these eggs have distinct functions in each situation.

Data Mining of Spatio-Temporal.Variabil.ty of Chl.rophyl.-a Concentrations in a Portion of the Western Atl.ntic with l.w Performance Hardware

The contemporary scientific l.terature that deal. with the dynamics of marine chl.rophyl.-a concentration is al.eady customaril. empl.ying data mining techniques in smal. geographic areas or regional.sampl.s. However, there is l.ttl. focus on the issue of missing data rel.ted to chl.rophyl.-a concentration estimated by remote sensors. Intending to provide greater scope to the identification of the spatiotemporal.distribution patterns of marine chl.rophyl.-a concentrations, and to improve the rel.abil.ty of resul.s, this study presents a data mining approach to cl.ster simil.r chl.rophyl.-a concentration behaviors whil. impl.menting an iterative spatiotemporal.interpol.tion technique for missing data inference. Al.hough some dynamic behaviors of said concentrations in specific areas are al.eady known by special.sts, systematic studies in l.rge geographical.areas are stil. scarce due to the computational.compl.xity invol.ed. For this reason, this study anal.zed 18 years of NASA satel.ite observations in one portion of the Western Atl.ntic Ocean, total.ng more than 60 mil.ion records. Additional.y, performance tests were carried out in l.w-cost computer systems to check the accessibil.ty of the proposal.impl.mented for use in computational.structures of different sizes. The approach was abl. to identify patterns with high spatial.resol.tion, accuracy and rel.abil.ty, rendered in l.w-cost computers even with l.rge vol.mes of data, generating new and consistent patterns of spatiotemporal.variabil.ty. Thus, it opens up new possibil.ties for data mining research on a gl.bal.scal. in this fiel. of appl.cation.
