Currently, engineering processes require reduced manufacturing time and low cost, in addition to the growing demand for workpieces with high accuracy. Workpieces with complex geometries and free forms has been a common practice in industries from different sectors such as： automotive, aeronautics, bioengineering among others. One way to satisfy the market requirements satisfactorily is making measurements more efficient to make the production process faster, in other words, it is necessary to make the inspection system more accurate and flexible. The coordinate measuring evolved over the past three decades and today it is the technology that best meets the requirements of modem manufacturing through CMMs （coordinate measurement machines）. The CMMs are important tool for design, fabrication and inspection of manufactured products, also used in the application of reverse engineering. These machines are also used by engineers in order to produce an accurate digital model in a virtual space for later use in CAD （computer-aided design）/CAM （computer-aided manufacturing）. It is worth mentioning that the accuracy of the modeling process of given piece depends on the number of control points that are captured on the workpiece surface. Consequently, the laser inspection systems are the best tools for use in reverse engineering, but more expensive when compared to contact measurement systems that use the TTP （touch trigger probe）, also used by CMMs. In this case, this paper aims to present an approach based on NURBS （non-uniform rational B-splines） to obtain free form curves and surfaces from a group of points obtained by using a contact sensor, the touch trigger probe. NURBS is an important mathematical tool and consists of generalizations of Bezier curves and surfaces and B-splines. The southern portion of the Sao Francisco Palaeocontinent in Brazil is denoted by Archean nuclei and Paleoproterozoic magmatic arcs that were amalgamated during Siderian to Orosirian orogenic processes(ca.2.4-2.1 Ga).New isotopic U-Pb in zircon and Sm-Nd whole rock combined with major and trace element composition analyses constrain the crystallization history of the Neoarchean Piedade block(at ca.2.6 Ga)and the Paleoproterozoic Mantiqueira Complex(ca.2.1-1.9 Ga).These therefore display quite different magmatic histories prior to their amalgamation at ca.2.05 ***-Nd and Rb-Sr isotopes imply a mixed mantle-crustal origin for the samples in both units.A complete Palaeoproterozoic orogenic cycle,from subduction to collision and collapse,is recorded in the Piedade Block and the Mantiqueira *** to Orosirian subduction processes(ca.2.2-2.1 Ga)led to the generation of coeval(ca.2.16 Ga)TTG suites and sanukitoids,followed by late(2.10-2.02 Ga)high-K granitoids that mark the collisional *** collisional accretion of the Mantiqueira Complex against the Piedade Block at 2.08-2.04 Ga is also recorded by granulite facies metamorphism in the latter terrane,along the Ponte Nova suture *** collisional stage was closely followed by the emplacement of within-plate tholeiites at ca.2.04 Ga and by alkaline rocks(syenites and enriched basic rocks)at ca.1.98 Ga,marking the transition to an extensional tectonic *** discovery of two episodes of TTG and sanukitoid magmatism,one during the Neoarchean in the Piedade Complex and another during the Rhyacian in the Mantiqueira Complex,indicates that the onset of subduction-related melting of metasomatized mantle was not restricted to Neoarchean times,as generally believed,but persisted much later into the Paleoproterozoic.

Chagas heart disease(CHD)affects approximately 30%of patients chronically infected with the protozoa Trypanosoma *** is classified into four stages of increasing severity according to electrocardiographic,echocardiographic,and clinical *** presents with a myriad of clinical manifestations,but its main complications are sudden cardiac death,heart failure,and ***,CHD has a higher incidence of sudden cardiac death and stroke than most other cardiopathies,and patients with CHD complicated by heart failure have a higher mortality than patients with heart failure caused by other *** patients with CHD,approximately 90%of deaths can be attributed to complications of Chagas *** cardiac death is the most common cause of death(55%–60%),followed by heart failure(25%–30%)and stroke(10%–15%).The high morbimortality and the unique characteristics of CHD demand an individualized approach according to the stage of the disease and associated complications the patient presents ***,the management of CHD is challenging,and in this review,we present the most updated available data to help clinicians and cardiologists in the care of these *** describe the clinical manifestations,diagnosis and classification criteria,risk stratification,and approach to the different clinical aspects of CHD using diagnostic tools and pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.

Liposarcoma is a malignant neoplasm of mesodermal origin, which among sarcomas, 10% to 20% are located in the retroperitoneum. The case presented shows a 50-year-old male patient who initially presented weight loss and abdominal pain in the left iliac fossa. A tumor mass of hardened consistency was palpated in virtually all the abdomen. An abdominal ultrasound and a computed tomography of the abdomen were performed and confirmed the tumor mass. An exploratory laparotomy was performed, with removal of bulky abdominal mass of greasy consistency. A histopathological study of the piece reported myxoid liposarcoma. Clinical and prognostic features, as well as oncologic outcomes, are well known in this group of patients. The patient has been in the outpatient clinic for 7 years without tumor recurrence. Computed tomography is the fundamental study for the diagnosis of imaging. The treatment of choice consists in an aggressive approach aiming the complete resection, which is a major predictor of local and distant recurrence and survival.

Porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) is currently considered an important etiologic agent of swine and its infection has potentially serious economic impact on the swine industry worldwide. This virus is frequently associated with postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS), and also with other clinical conditions such as porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome (PDNS), late-term abortions, reproductive failure in sows, proliferative and necrotizing pneumonia and congenital tremors. The term porcine circovirus-associated disease (PCVAD) is currently used to refer to any of these diseases when they are associated with PCV2 infection. The PCV2 was recognized as a pathogen in 1997, and many questions regarding its biology and pathogenesis remain unanswered. Currently, some studies have shown the production of new vaccine candidates and field efficacy testing of commercial vaccines. This review discusses some major points concerned with immunopathogenesis and vaccines for PCV2 infection.

First-year experience of a new skin bank in Brazil

Aim:To report the 1st year experience of the skin bank opened at the Evangelical University Hospital of Curitiba(HUEC),Brazil in June ***:A retrospective statistical and epidemiological study was conducted from data obtained from the activities of the HUEC skin bank from June 2013 to August ***:The HUEC skin bank harvested tissue from 45 cadaveric donors(46.6%female and 53.3%male),with an average age of *** white skin-colored donors represented 91%of *** causes of death were of neurological origin(55.6%).Eighty-one batches were *** bank processed 31,314.63 cm^(2)of skin for transplantation(41 batches),and 38 batches were *** distributed allografts totaled 28,940.82 cm^(2),with tissue from a single donor benefitting up to 5 patients.A total of 52 transplant procedures were performed(66.6%of recipients were male and 33.3%female),burn victims represented 83.3%of the ***:The HUEC skin bank provides skin primarily for victims with severe third-degree burns,mostly men,and who are treated and transplanted in the HUEC as a result of high *** successful outcomes highlight the potential use for other clinical indications.
