Glyphosate is a herbicide that has been widely used worldwide and is used in agricultural areas to control weeds and unwanted *** sensors developed from different nanomaterials have high efficiency,excellent cost-benefit,and fast analysis time for detecting traces of environmental *** study aimed to produce an electrochemical sensor with disposable screen-printed electrodes based on carbon black modified with niobium nanoparticles to determine glyphosate in aqueous *** morphology,structure and electrochemical performance of the sensor were characterized by scanning electron microscopy,energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction and cyclic *** pulse voltammetry in BR buffer solution at pH 5.0 allowed the generation of a method to quantify glyphosate concentration in a linear range of 5.90-172.30μmol/L(1.00-29.13μg/mL),with a limit of detection calculated at 3.07μmol/L(0.52μg/mL).The method efficiently quantified glyphosate in real water samples and showed no interference from K^(+),Na^(+),Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+)ions or thiamethoxam,imidacloprid and carbendazim pesticides.

The aim of the current study was to determine the nature of the seasonal variability of the Suspended Particulate Matter(SPM) fluxes from the drainage basin to the estuary in a macrotidal region(Northeastern Brazil),and the estuarine response to a seawater intrusion regarding sediment deposition,which will support the understanding of the global transport of materials at the continent-ocean *** structure data was acquired using a Conductivity,Temperature,and Depth(CTD) probe with a sampling frequency of 4 *** particulate material was measured by gravimetric measurements applied to exact filtered volume *** outflows were measured through the use of an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler(ADCP) with frequency of 1.5 *** horizontal thermal and saline gradients varied from warmer and less saline waters(2014) to cooler and saline waters(2015).The gradient behavior when linked to volume transport and SPM flows,suggests a minimization of the fluvial flows in 2015,easing the advance of coastal water(CW) towards the inner estuary,leading to an inversion of the baroclinic pressure *** bottom saline front,generated by the entrance of coastal water masses,caused an increase in SPM concentrations due to increased fluid density,resuspension of previously deposited sediment,and erosion of *** concentrations of SPM indicate higher volume transport suggesting a hydraulic barrier due to the change/inversion of the baroclinic pressure gradient,resulting in water and material *** deposition was observed during neap tide,while during spring tide the material is resuspended,increasing the concentration,generating cycles of deposition and erosion during the neap-spring *** sediment in suspension that reach the estuary,even with low fluvial volume,stay in this environment forming new islands because of *** deposition rates or sediment cycling,if generated by the hydraulic barrier,may indicate that the flo

Brazilian biomes are home to a significant portion of the world’s biodiversity,with a total of 14%of existing species and still concentrate 20%of the world’s water ***,changes in biomes have a direct impact on rainfall patterns and water *** on this,the objective was to evaluate the variability of rainfall in the four existing biomes in the Northeast Brazil(NEB)and their interaction with the ENSO climate variability mode and regional scale meteorological systems via CHELSA *** this,monthly rainfall data were used from 1979 to 2013,with a spatial resolution of 1 km×1 km of the CHELSA product,and seasonal and annual rainfall patterns were extracted via *** was found that the rainy season in the Amazon,Caatinga and Cerrado biomes occurred between January and April,with varying intensities,except for the Atlantic *** seasonality patterns are associated with the NEB meteorological systems,with emphasis on ITCZ(all Biomes),UTCV(Amazon,Caatinga and Cerrado),Frontal Systems(extreme south of Caatinga,Cerrado and Atlantic Forest)and EWD/TWD in the(Atlantic Forest).In the inter-annual scale,the remarkable influence of ENSO was verified,mainly in the years 1983,1985,1989,1993,1998,2009 and *** is noteworthy that 1985 was the wettest year of the period,with a surplus in all biomes,while the driest year differs between the Amazon(1983),Atlantic Forest and Caatinga(1993)and Cerrado(2012)*** study via orbital product in NEB showed that anthropogenic processes and natural variability interfere with the forms of rain interception in the biomes and hence in rainfall patterns and water recycling in NEB.

Objective: As isolates of Cryptococcus are frequently kept collection stocks in institutions, sometimes without proper characterization, we sought to determine the genotype profiles, protease and phospholipase activities “in vitro” and the susceptibility testing for azoles and amphotericin B. Methodology: 84 isolates from several regions of Brazil (40 samples from clinical origin and 44 isolates from environmental origin) were maintained at the microorganism’s bank of the Biomedical Science Institute (ICB-USP) of the São Paulo University, in São Paulo, Brazil. This isolates was submitted fungal strains determination, DNA extraction and purification, determination of genotype by URA5 gene RFLP of CGB-positive isolates, protease and phospholipase activity and susceptibility to antifungals. Results: Of six CGB positive isolates tested by RFLP-PCR, only four presented a genomic profile consistent C. gattii species (VGII), while two other were C. neoformans (VNI and VNIII), indicating the existence of canavanine-resistante C. neoformans isolates in the culture collections. The clinical isolates secreted higher levels of phospholipase and environmental isolates but no differences were observed for the protease levels. Almost all isolates were sensible to azoles and amphotericin B. Conclusion: We point out in this research the existence of C. neoformans strains resistant to canavanine and intrinsic characteristic of C. gatti. These results demonstrate the importance to perform a detailed characterization of isolates kept in culture collections.

Background Although preventable and curable,tuberculosis(TB)still occurs in poor or developing countries,mainly in metropolitan regions of larger *** disease is a serious public health problem,and is directly linked to social *** analyzed temporal trend variations in areas at risk for concomitant TB,and characterized the clinical and epidemiological profiles of cases in a hyperendemic municipality in the Amazon region of *** This ecological study was performed in the municipality of Manaus,in northern *** population comprised cases with concomitant pulmonary and extrapulmonary TB,registered on the Notifiable Diseases Information System(SINAN),between January 1,2009 and December 31,*** risk cluster detection,spatial and spatiotemporal scanning statistical techniques were *** Spatial Variation in Temporal Trends(SVTT)approach was used to detect and infer clusters for significantly different time *** Between 2009 and 2018,873 concomitant TB cases were registered in *** using purely spatial scanning statistics,we identified two risk *** relative risk(RR)of the clusters was 2.21(95%confidence interval[CI]:1.57–2.88;P=0.0031)and 2.03(95%CI:1.58–2.58;P=0.0029).Using space-time scanning,we identified a risk cluster with an RR of 3.57(95%CI:2.84–4.41;P=0.014),between 2017 and *** SVTT analyses,three clusters with spatial variations were detected in the significant temporal trends:SVTT 1(P=0.042),SVTT 2(P=0.046)and SVTT 3(P=0.036).Conclusions In Brazil,several TB-determining factors such as race/color,gender,low educational level and low income overlap in needy urban areas and communities,demonstrating that it is unlikely to reach the goals,agreed and launched with the END TB Strategy within the deadlines of international agreements,if there is no reduction in existing inequities determinants and risk of illness in the country.
