Surface-anchored metal-organic frameworks(surMOFs)integrate nanoporous supramolecular MOF materials directly into architectures for applications such as gas storage,chemical sensing,and energy ***-by-layer solution-phase deposition of the MOF-14 components(1,3,5-tris(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene and copper(II)dimers,respectively)produces a porous and conformal film on carboxylterminated self-assembled monolayers(SAMs).In this research,the formation of ultrathin(less than 25 nm)surMOF films on codeposited bicomponent SAMs and microcontact printed SAMs is investigated by atomic force microscopy,ellipsometry,infrared spectroscopy,and contact angle *** composed of methyl-terminated alkanethiols assembled on gold substrates inhibit surMOF formation,whereas carboxyl-terminated alkanethiols promote MOF-14-based film *** tune the density of carboxyl groups that anchor the film,methyl-and carboxylterminated alkanethiols of varying concentrations are codeposited on *** systematic study demonstrates how surMOF film formation and morphology are impacted by these SAMs with mixed surface *** patterning methods for SAMs,such as microcontact printing(μCp),commonly have mixed chemical functionalities within certain regions of the *** gained regarding how mixed surface functionalities affect surMOF film formation are applied herein to optimize theμCp method to produce chemically patterned SAMs that selectively direct surMOF assembly to produce high-quality surMOF film features.

Mathematical Models for Flow of Chyme during Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

Intestinal infection has become a common disease in human and endoscopy can be a powerful means in diagnosis of intestinal illnesses. Mathematical models are developed for an inserted endoscope on the flow of chyme in the small intestine considering a Newtonian incompressible fluid flow, under an axisymmetric condition, in a cylindrical annulus between the small intestine and the endoscope. We obtain novel mathematical expressions for the pressure drop, forces exerted by the endoscope on the flow of chyme, and the force exerted by the chyme on the intestine for one wave length of the peristaltic rush wave. We also investigate and calculate the flow velocity and pressure for different flow rates and the wave lengths. The results are presented, and discussed for the cases and conditions under which pressure, pressure drop can be positive or negative and the forces can be acted either by the intestine or endoscope on the flow or vice-versa.

Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBDs), particularly Crohn's disease(CD) and ulcerative colitis(UC), are associated with a variety of extra-intestinal manifestations(EIMs).About 36% of IBD patients have at least one EIM, which most frequently affect the joints, skin, eyes and the biliary *** EIMs associated with IBD have a negative impact on patients with UC and CD, and the resolution of most of them parallels that of the active IBD in terms of timing and required therapy;however, the clinical course of EIMs such as axial arthritis, pyoderma gangrenosum, uveitis, and primary sclerosing cholangitis is independent of IBD *** peripheral and axial arthritis associated with IBD have traditionally been treated with simple analgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, steroids, sulfasalazine, methotrexate, local steroid injections and physiotherapy, but the introduction of biological response modifi ers such as tumor necrosis factor-α blockers, has led to further improvements.

加蓬被认为是国际贸易中的一个国家,因为它在热带森林中拥有丰富的自然资源,占总陆地面积的85%。加蓬的大部分森林财富都在刚果盆地,这是目前世界上仅次于亚马逊的拉丁美洲美国的第二大森林,更确切地说是在巴西。加蓬是国际热带木材组织(ITTO)的成员,其商业活动是木材产品的销售。加蓬目前被公认为是木材产品开发的国家,但从国际贸易的收益来看,生产和木材出口的质量对国家不利。这项研究旨在回答以下有助于提高加蓬的国际贸易收益的问题:外国直接投资对加蓬木材工业的影响是什么?为此,外国直接投资理论被认为是促进木材工业商业活动平稳运行的重要因素。利用面板数据模型对四个主要木材出口国的二十六年数据进行分析,以提供更多的变异性、自由度和减少解释变量之间的多重共线性,从而提高经济计量估计的效率。该模型具有控制在估计过程中的变量的个体异质性的能力。结果表明,加蓬木材工业需要外资政策框架和外部支持,以提高其木材生产和出口互补的工业生产。因此,对加蓬来说,考虑FDI的激励政策是很重要的。加蓬要在木材市场站稳脚跟,就必须不断检查其国内价格,定期对其产品的地位进行评估,促进外商直接投资的进入和实施,减少木材制造业的税收,提高原木材出口的出口税,减少贸易文件的数量以及边境成本。

This document presents the advantages of using different technology and computational programs, in order to support the teacher and the student during the teaching and learning experience regarding the subject of probability and Statistics, which is taught in upper levels. For the experimental work, a group of 40 students, who studied the third semester at the Computing Advanced Faculty from the Instituto politécnico Nacional (ESCOM-IpN) was taken as a sample. The form to assess the group was different than usual, because currently not only knowledge was assessed but also the skills on technology were used to program software that allowed calculation through binomial and normal distribution or develop animations that simulated problems expressed in pencil and paper. For a semester, we worked with the group and obtained excellent results. The assessment was supported through a previously created metric.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis(FSGS) represents one of the most severe glomerular diseases, with frequent progression to end-stage renal disease and a high rate of recurrence in renal allografts(30%-50%). Recurrent FSGS portends a negative outcome, with the hazard ratio of graft failure being two-fold higher then that of other glomerulonephritis. Two patterns of clinical presentations are observed: Early recurrence, which is characterized by massive proteinuria within hours to days after implantation of the renal graft, and late recurrence, which occurs several months or years after the transplantation. Many clinical conditions have been recognized as risk factors for recurrence, including younger age, rapid progression of the disease to end-stage renal disease on native kidneys, and loss of previous renal allografts due to recurrence. However, much less is known about the incidence and risk factors of the so-called "de novo " type of FSGS, for which sufferers are transplanted patients without disease on native kidneys; but, rapid development of allograft failure is frequently observed. Management of both forms is challenging, and none of the approaches proposed to date have been demonstrated as consistently beneficial or effective. In the present review we report an update on the available therapeutic strategies for FSGS in renal transplantation within the context of a critical overview of the current literature.

The association of cystic fibrosis and Crohn's disease (CD) is well known, but to date, there are very few cas-es in the literature of patients suffering from mucovisci-dosis who have required treatment with infliximab. We report the case of a 23-year-old patient suffering from cystic fibrosis and severe CD treated successfully with infliximab without any infective complications or wors-ening of the pulmonary disease and with a long term (2 years) complete remission.

phytoestrogens are natural compounds found in some vegetables, and they replicate many of the physiochemical and physiological properties of estrogens, including the regulation of mood. The phytoestrogen genistein exerts anxiolytic-like effects in rats with a chronic absence of ovarian hormones, but the mechanism involved in this effect remains to be explored. The present study explored the participation of estrogen receptor-β in the anxiolytic-like effect of genistein (1.0 mg/kg, i.p., for 4 days) in Wistar rats with 12-weeks postovariectomy, considered as experimental model of post-surgical menopause. In the light/dark test, a useful tool for anxiety study and for the screening of anxiolytic drugs, genistein reduced the latency to enter and increased the time spent in the light compartment and significantly increased the frequency and time spent exploring the light compartment compared with the control group, which is considered as an anxiolytic-like effect at experimental level. All behavioral effects produced by genistein in the light/dark test were blocked by previous tamoxifen administration (5.0 mg/kg, s.c., for 6 days), a non selective antagonist for estrogen receptor-β. The effects produced by genistein or tamoxifen in this test were not related to significant changes in general motor activity evaluated in the open field test. In conclusion, the specific contribution of present investigation was identify that estrogen receptor-β is involved in the anxiolytic-like effect produced by phytoestrogen genistein in rats with a long-term absence of ovarian hormones;supporting the hypothesis that estrogen receptor-β participates in the regulation of anxiety associated with low concentration of ovarian hormones and in the anxiolytic-like effects produced by natural estrogenic compounds such as phytoestrogens.

The present work makes the exhibition of a manfacturing cell for didactic pulposes, implemented as part of evaluation in the last cycle of mechatronics engineering formation within Technological University of North Aguascalientes. It includes the motivation that led to plnning and subsequent implementation of manufacturing system described, the characteristics of particular processing operations that it was decided to include, methodology to achieve joint work and synchronization of each operation performed, the results of operation obtained and their comparison with initial expectations, as well as the conclusions derived from process, which lead to considering such a project as an ideal model to verify the formation of the future mechatroonics engineers, when faced with applications of their area of exercise, reviewing operating principle of mechanical, electronic, control and computing systems to achieve their synergy in a mechatronic system.
