This work aims to develop simulation models that allow locating adequate areas for forest plantations in the state of Mexico. It combines multi-criteria evaluation (MCE) techniques and geographic information systems (GIs) to analyze and simulate future scenarios for forest plantations under three major objectives: commercial production, restoration and protection, and agroforestry. Results demonstrate the potential of this method to integrate different variables of social, economic and environmental nature, and for solve some problems of forest activities and management by locating the most suitable areas for this forestal activity.

The physiographic characterization of a basin is a fundamental element as it defines the hydrological behavior of that basin. The present work deals with the development and implementation of a tool that allows calculating in an automated manner the physiographic parameters of a basin, as well as those of the surface runoff and main river, besides other graphic elements: hypsometric curve, equivalent rectangle and profile of the main river. such a tool was developed under Visual Basic 6 programming language and the spatial geographic component ArcObjects by EsRI;they enabled the development of a library as a final product (.dll), which can be loaded and implemented in ArcMap software. In the methodology a Conceptual Model was established, from which it was possible to identify the requirements and methods to obtain the parameters, as well as the conception and implementation of the Logical Model that includes the specific functions and also the input structures, processes and data output. Finally, the tool was tested with actual data from El Caracol river basin, located in central-southern Mexico, which showed the easiness and usefulness of it, besides the effectiveness of the results, not leaving aside the time and resources saved by the user when characterizing a basin, compared with other conventional processes.

Radiation induced fibrosis(RIF)can be understood as a form of chronic radiation-induced bystander effect(RIBE).It is a fibrotic process different than acute radiation syndrome(ARs),which is an inflammatory process that has different mediators and effector *** is triggered by Reactive Oxygen species(ROs)activation of the matrixembedded L-TGF-β***-βacts by directing cellular processes that culminate in a fibrotic *** include epithelial and endothelial mesenchymal transition(EMT and EnMT),G1 phase growth arrest,stimulation of fibrosis,and apoptosis,characterized by hypocellularity with a predominance of fibrocytes and myofibroblasts,fibrosis,and variable loss of tissue *** grafting is the only clinically available tool to reverse *** reversal of RIF is mediated by the mesenchymal stem cells(MsCs)embedded in the stromal vascular fraction(sVF)adipose *** mechanism of action is the release of HGF(hepatocyte growth factor)by the MsCs into the surrounding RIF *** HGF initiates a“mitotic growth program”that reprograms cell *** changes include EMT and EnMT,stimulation of cell proliferation and morphogenesis,anti-apoptosis,downregulation of TGF-β,dissolution of fibrosis,and cell ***“mitotic growth program”culminates in tissue regeneration and reversal of RIF.

This paper analyses the oxidation of ferrous iron via chemical and biological means in a class of sequential Batch Reactors(sBR-type).For this,a kinetic model for the study of iron oxidation system is proposed,followed by a parametric sensitivity analysis and a bifurcation analysis,which allow selecting the most influential kinetic parameters in order to ensure a suitable prediction capacity of the mathematical *** system consists of two sBR bioreactors,the first being used to produce hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)that is fed to a second reactor where the iron oxidation is carried out by chemical–biological *** predictions were compared with experimental data for the production of H2O2 and for ferrous iron oxidation,finding suitable correlation coefficients(r2 N 0.98)for each state *** bifurcation analysis showed the trajectories of the main variables,such as,biomass,H2O2 and ferrous iron,under the change of the most influential kinetic *** analysis demonstrates the usefulness of the constructed model to predict the kinetic behaviour of the sBR-type process.

A precise energy conversion factor is required to define the impact of greenhouse gas emissions by gasoline-powered vehi-cles and policies that will guide the application of future *** current energy conversion factor adopted by many countries is based on the Willans line approach,initially proposed in 1888 for steam engines,later adapted for internal combustion *** actual energy conversion factor,which defines the energy conversion for drivers in real traffic,is *** this article,eight world-class engines are tested in an engine bench for the acquisition of specific fuel consumption 3D ***,their energy conversion factors,calculated by dividing the energy output by the energy input,are simulated in real and urban traffic,acquired according to the real driving emissions(RDE)*** addition,a reference vehicle is instrumented to measure the energy input(fuel flow)and the energy output(mechanical energy in the half axles)under the same RDE cycle *** results of both procedures are very similar,respectively,0.405±0.04 L/kWh for the simulation based on eight benchmark engines,and 0.392±0.04 L/kWh for the reference vehicle driven in RDE traffic conditions,with a 95%confidence *** turbocharged engines,the factor attained by the simulation is 0.395±0.04 L/*** values of the energy conversion factor for gasoline engines got in this research are higher than those obtained through the Willans line approach,suggesting a new standard value of 0.405 L/kWh,replacing the current 0.264 L/*** could substantially change the greenhouse gas emissions in a tank-to-wheel approach for the entire vehicle and add-on eco-innovations.

Background:Rotavirus was the leading cause of childhood diarrhoea-related hospitalisations and death before the introduction of rotavirus ***:We describe the effectiveness of rotavirus vaccines to prevent rotavirus infections and hospitalizations and the main rotavirus strains circulating before and after vaccine introduction through a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies published between 1990 and 2014.203 studies were included to estimate the proportion of infections due to rotavirus and 10 to assess the impact of the vaccines.41 of 46 studies in the post-vaccination period were used for meta-analysis of genotypes,20 to calculate VE against infection,eight for VE against hospitalisation and seven for VE against severe ***:24.3%(95%CI 22.1–26.5)and 16.1%(95%CI 13.2–19.3)of cases of diarrhoea were due to rotavirus before and after vaccine introduction,*** most prevalent G types after vaccine introduction were G2(51.6%,95%CI 38–65),G9(14.5%,95%CI 7–23)and G1(14.2%,95%CI 7–23);while the most prevalent P types were P[4](54.1%,95%CI 41–67)and P[8](33%,95%CI 22–46).G2P[4]was the most frequent genotype combination after vaccine *** was 53%(95%CI 46–60)against infection,73%(95%CI,66–78)against hospitalisation and 74%(95%CI,68.0–78.0)against severe *** in hospitalisations and mortality due to diarrhoea were observed in countries that adopted universal rotavirus ***:Rotavirus vaccines are effective in preventing rotavirus-diarrhoea in children in Latin *** vaccines were associated with changes in genotype distribution.

Photodynamic therapy(PDT), based on the photoactivation of photosensitizers(Pss), has become a well-studied therapy for cancer. Photofrin~?, belonging to the first generation of Ps, is still widely used for the treatment of different kinds of cancers; however, it has several drawbacks that significantly limit its general clinical use. Consequently, there has been extensive research on the design of Ps molecules with optimized pharmaceutical properties, with aiming of overcoming the disadvantages of traditional Ps, such as poor chemical purity, long half-life, excessive accumulation into the skin, and low attenuation coefficients. The rational design of novel Ps with desirable properties has attracted considerable research in the pharmaceutical field. This review presents an overview on the classical photosensitizers and the most significant recent advances in the development of Ps with regard to their potential application in oncology.

Purpose: The evolution of the socio-cognitive structure of the field of knowledge management(KM) during the period 1986–2015 is described. Design/methodology/approach: Records retrieved from Web of science were submitted to author co-citation analysis(ACA) following a longitudinal perspective as of the following time slices: 1986–1996, 1997–2006, and 2007–2015. The top 10% of most cited first authors by sub-periods were mapped in bibliometric networks in order to interpret the communities formed and their ***: KM is a homogeneous field as indicated by networks results. Nine classical authors are identified since they are highly co-cited in each sub-period, highlighting Ikujiro Nonaka as the most influential authors in the field. The most significant communities in KM are devoted to strategic management, KM foundations, organisational learning and behaviour, and organisational theories. Major trends in the evolution of the intellectual structure of KM evidence a technological influence in 1986–1996, a strategic influence in 1997–2006, and finally a sociological influence in 2007–*** limitations: Describing a field from a single database can offer biases in terms of output coverage. Likewise, the conference proceedings and books were not used and the analysis was only based on first authors. However, the results obtained can be very useful to understand the evolution of KM *** implications: These results might be useful for managers and academicians to understand the evolution of KM field and to(re)define research activities and organisational ***/value: The novelty of this paper lies in considering ACA as a bibliometric technique to study KM research. In addition, our investigation has a wider time coverage than earlier articles.
