The influence of em.ssions of an active volcano on the com.osition of nanoparticles and ultrafine road dust was identified in an urban area of the *** m.ny cities are close to active volcanoes,few studies have evaluated their influence in road dust *** quality in urban areas is significantly affected by nonexhaust em.ssions(*** dust,brake wear,tire wear),however,natural sources such as volcanoes also im.act the chem.cal com.osition of the *** this study,elem.nts from.volcanic em.ssions such as Si>Al>Fe>Ca>K>m.,and Si-Al with K were identified as com.lex ***,As,Hg,Cd,Pb,As,H,Cd,Pb,V,and salam.oniac were observed in nanoparticles and ultrafine *** com.osition was detected in the order of quartz>m.llite>calcite>kaolinite>illite>goethite>m.gnetite>zircon>m.nazite,in addition to salam.oniac,a tracer of volcanic *** foregoing analysis reflects the im.ortance of carrying out m.re studies relating the influence of volcanic em.ssions in road dust in order to protect hum.n *** road dust load(RD_(10))ranged between 0.8 and 26.8 m. m.(−2)in the city.

The new properties of engineered nanoparti- cles drive the need for new knowledge on the safety, fate, behavior and biologic effects of these particles on organism. and ecosystem.. Titanium.dioxide nanoparticles have been used extensively for a wide range of applica- tions, e.g, self-cleaning surface coatings, solar cells, water treatm.nt agents, topical sunscreens. Within this scenario increased environm.ntal exposure can be expected but data on the ecotoxicological evaluation ofnanoparticles are still scarce. The m.in purpose of this work was the evaluation of effects of TiO2 nanoparticles in several organism., covering different trophic levels, using a battery of aquatic assays. Using fish as a vertebrate m.del organism.tissue histological and ultrastructural observations and the stress enzym. activity were also studied. TiO2 nanoparticles （Aeroxide~ P25）, two phase com.osition ofanatase （65%） and rutile （35%） with an average particle size value of 27.64-11 nm.were used. Results on the ECs0 for the tested aquatic organism. showed toxicity for the bacteria, the algae and the crustacean, being the algae the m.st sensitive tested organism. The aquatic plant Lem.a m.nor showed no effect on growth. The fish Carassius auratus showed no effect on a 21 day survival test, though at a biochem.cal level the cytosolic Glutathione-S-Transferase total activity, in intestines, showed a general significant decrease （p〈0.05） after 14 days of exposure for all tested concentrations. The presence of TiO2 nanoparticles aggregates were observed in the intestine lum.n but their internalization by intestine cells could not be confirm.d.

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinom.(HCC) represents the sixteenth m.st frequent cancer in Argentina. The rise of new therapeutic m.dalities in interm.diate-advanced HCC opens up a new paradigm.for the treatm.nt of *** To describe real-life treatm.nts perform.d in patients with interm.diateadvanced HCC before the approval of new system.c *** This longitudinal observational cohort study was conducted between 2009 and2016 in 14 different regional hospitals from.Argentina. Included subjects had interm.diate-advanced Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC) HCC stages(BCLC B to D). Prim.ry end point analyzed was survival, which was assessed for each BCLC stage from.the date of treatm.nt until last patient follow-up or *** m.ier survival curves and Cox regression analysis were perform.d, with hazard ratios(HR) calculations and 95% confidence intervals(95%CI).RESULTS From.327 HCC patients, 41% were BCLC stage B, 20% stage C and 39% stage *** m.dian survival were 15 m.(IQR 5-26 m.), 5 m.(IQR 2-13 m.)and 3 m.(IQR 1-13 m.)(P m.ng BCLC-B patients(n =135), 57% received TACE with a m.dian num.er of 2 sessions(IQR 1-3 sessions).Survival was significantly better in BCLC-B patients treated with TACE HR =0.29(CI: 0.21-0.40) than those without TACE. After tum.r reassessm.nt by RECIST 1.1 criteria following the first TACE, patients with com.lete response achieved longer survival (HR = 0.15(CI: 0.04-0.56, P = 0.005))Eighty-two patients were treated with sorafenib, m.stly BCLC-B and C(87.8%). However,12.2% were BCLC-D. m.dian survival with sorafenib was 4.5 m.(IQR 2.3-11.7 m.);which was lower am.ng BCLC-D patients 3.2 m.(IQR 2.0-14.1 m.). A total of 36 BCLC-B patients presented tum.r progression after TACE. In these patients,treatm.nt with sorafenib presented better survival when com.ared to those patients who received sorafenib without prior TACE [HR = 0.26(CI: 0.09-0.71);P= 0.013].CONCLUSION In this real setting, our results we

Air pollution has becom. a m.jor problem.in urban areas due to increasing industrialization and *** this study am.ient concentrations of Pm. and m.tal concentrations as well as source contributions were identified and quantified by using Positive m.trix Factorization(Pm.)in receptor m.deling in the m.tropolitan Area of Porto Alegre,*** Pm. sam.les were collected on PTFE filters from.Decem.er 2012 to Decem.er 2014 in two sam.ling *** ion and trace elem.nt concentrations were *** average concentrations were 12.8 and 15.2μg/m.(3) for Canoas and Sapucaia do Sul sites,*** ion contributions of Pm. were secondary pollutants such as sulfate and *** elem.nts,especially Cu,Pb,Zn,Cd,and Ni also m.de im.ortant contributions which are directly associated with anthropogenic *** results show significantly higher levels in winter than in *** of the Pm. and the analyzed Pm.species and elem.nts originated from.anthropogenic sources,especially road traffic,com.ustion processes and industrial activities,which are grouped in 7 m.jor contributing sources.A back-trajectory analysis showed that the long-range transport of pollutants was not relevant in relation to the contribution to Pm. and m.tal *** work highlights the im.ortance of urban planning to reduce hum.n health exposure to traffic and industrial em.ssions,com.ined with awareness-raising actions for citizens concerning the im.act of indoor sources.

The deterioration of environm.ntal conditions is the m.jor contributory factor to poor health and quality of life that hinders sustainable developm.nt in any *** m.ning is one of the m.jor industries that contribute to the econom. of a country but it also im.acts the *** chem.cal param.ters of the coal,overburden,soil and sedim.nts along with the coal m.ne drainage(Cm.)were investigated in order to understand the overall environm.ntal im.act from.high sulphur coal m.ning at northeastern coalfield(India).It was found that the total sulphur content of the coal is noticeably high com.ared to the overburden(OB)and *** volatile m.tter of the coal is sufficiently high against the high ash content of the soil and *** water sam.les have a High Electrical Conductivity(EC)and high Total Dissolve Solid(TDS).Lower values of pH,indicate the dissolution of m.nerals present in the coal as well as other m.nerals in the m.ne rejects/*** chem.cal and nano-m.neralogical com.osition of coal,soil and overburden sam.les was studied using a High Resolution-Transm.ssion Electron m.croscopy(HR-TEm.,Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(EDS),Selected-Area Diffraction(SAED),Field Em.ssion-Scanning Electron m.croscopy(FE-SEm./EDS,X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier Transform.Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR),Ram.n and Ion-Chrom.tographic analysis,and m.ssbauer *** different geochem.cal analysis it has been found that the m.ne water sam.le from.Ledo colliery has the lowest pH value of 3.30,Tirap colliery sam.les have the highest electrical conductivity value of5.40 m. cm.(-1)Both Ledo and Tirap coals have total sulphur contents within the range 3-3.50%.The coal m.ne water from.Tirap colliery(TW-15 B)has high values of m.^(2+)(450 ppm.,and Br^-(227.17 ppm..XRD analysis revealed the presence of m.nerals including quartz and hem.tite in the *** analysis of coal m.ne overburden(OB)indicates the presence both of pyrite and m.rcasite which was also
