Hemodialysis in Pregnant with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Case Report and Review

Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease with an etiopathogenesis that is still unclear. With a higher incidence in women of childbearing age. Pregnancy in patients suffering from this pathology is a constant challenge for multidisciplinary teams. The changes of pregnancy, especially to the immune system and the kidney, have repercussions on the renal compromise secondary to lupus. Lupus nephropathy is more active during pregnancy and leads to adverse outcomes for the mother-fetus binomial. The early identification of pregnant women with a higher risk of complications, access to health resources and the participation of a multidisciplinary team is the strategy that increases maternal-fetal survival. A report case of a 25-year-old black female with SLE and a 10-week pregnancy who was admitted to the emergency department with criteria for dialysis. The literature focused on lupus nephritis and dialysis in pregnancy was reviewed. Articles were reviewed in databases such as PubMed, Cochrane, among others, focused on the topic of pregnancy with SLE and pregnancy with dialysis. A total of 15 review articles, 2 meta-analyses, 3 observational studies and 6 cohort studies (3 prospective and 3 retrospective) were filtered.

The biosynthesis and wall-binding of hemicelluloses in cellulose-deficient maize cells:An example of metabolic plasticity

Cell-suspension cultures（Zea mays L.,Black Mexican sweet corn） habituated to 2,6-dichlorobenzonitrile（DCB） survive with reduced cellulose owing to hemicellulose network modification. We aimed to de fine the hemicellulose metabolism modifications in DCB-habituated maize cells showing a mild reduction in cellulose at different stages in the culture cycle. Using pulse-chase radiolabeling, we fed habituated and non-habituated cultures with [3H]arabinose,and traced the distribution of 3H-pentose residues between xylans, xyloglucans and other polymers in several cellular compartments for 5 h. Habituated cells were slower taking up exogenous [3H]arabinose. Tritium was incorporated into polysaccharide-bound arabinose and xylose residues, but habituated cells diverted a higher proportion of their new [3H]xylose residues into（hetero） xylans at the expense of xyloglucan synthesis. During logarithmic growth, habituated cells showed slower vesicular traf ficking of polymers,especially xylans. Moreover, habituated cells showed a decrease in the strong wall-binding of all pentose-containing polysaccharides studied; correspondingly, especially in log phase cultures, habituation increased the proportion of 3H-hemicelluloses（[3H]xylans and [3H]xyloglucan） sloughed into the medium. These findings could be related to the cel walls’ cellulose-deficiency, and consequent reduction in binding sites for hemicelluloses; the data could also re fl ect the habituated cells’ reduced capacity to integrate arabinox ylans by extra-protoplasmic phenolic cross-linking, as well as xyloglucans, during wall assembly.

Potentiality of Vermicompost Humic Acids in Banana in Vitro Micropropagation Clone： Enano Guantanamero

The research was done at Havana Biofabric, Mayabeque Province. The vitro plants of banana （Musa sp） used came from the clone Enano Guantanamero （viand type）. They come from multiplication phase in a Murashige and MS （Skoog medium）. The objective of this work was to study the potentialities of HA （humic acids） for stimulation of rooting and cell division process, searching for completely synthetic hormone substitution due to its high cost. The multiplication medium contained thiamine （2 mg·L^-1）, myo-inositol （100 mg·L^-1）, sugar （30mg·L^-1）. By the use of HA, five treatments were used with total substitution of auxin and cytokinin （TI： HA （10 ***）; （T2： HA （20 mg·L^-1）; （T3： HA （30mg·L^-1）; （T4： HA （40 mg·L^-1）; （T5： HA （50 mg·L^-1） and the control with 6BAP （benzil amino purine）（4 mg·L^-1）＋ IBA （indol butyric acid）（0.65 mg·L^-1）, pH of the medium was adjust just before agar were add. The results showed that in the explants under HA treatments, elongation and cell multiplication were favored confirmed by explants great high, root number and length due to dry mass. The total protein content, reduced carbohydrate and peroxidases enzymatic activity were determine. The use of Vermicompost HA in the in vitro micropropagation of banana allow the elimination of rooting phase saving materials and be able to pass explants directly to Acclimatization phase.

Evaluation of Native Strains of Isaria fumosorosea （Wize） Against Anastrepha ludens （Loew）（Diptera： Tephritidae）

We evaluated the pathogenicity of six strains 1. fumosorosea to determine their potential as biological control agents of A. ludens by performing bioassays under laboratory conditions （25 ± 2 ℃, 60± 5% R.H and 12：12 h L： D） exposing larvae and pupae to a concentration of 1 × 10^8 conidia per milliliter using three different methods： direct spraying, spray of soil and submerged for both instars. The results showed that direct spraying method Pfr-612 strain showed the highest mortality （47%） in pupae while for larvae was strain HIB-27 to 46%. Regarding spray of soil Pfr-612 strain showed the highest percentage of mortality for pupae and larvae with 45 and 57% mortality, respectively. Finally, for the submerged method in pupae HIB-27 strain showed 62% mortality whereas in larvae HIB-32 strain showed 46%. These results indicate that A. ludens is susceptible in at least two instars to L fumosorosea and make this fungus a promising agent for control of the Mexican fruit fly.

Increasing Detection and Confirmation of Tuberculosis in Children in Southern Ethiopia: Pooled Samples Tested Using Microscopy and Xpert

Background: Childhood tuberculosis accounts for about 10% of estimated TB cases in the world. Despite advances in diagnostics, childhood TB remains a challenge. We evaluated pooling method and testing with GeneXpert MTB/RIF in southern Ethiopia. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study in presumptive TB children st, 2nd and pooled samples. Results: Of 340 presumptive TB cases enrolled, 96 and 244 children submitted gastric aspirate and sputum samples respectively. Of 1020 samples collected (282 gastric aspirate and 738 sputum samples), 38 (3.7%) were positive by Xpert (10 (3.5%) from gastric aspirate and 28 (3.8%) from sputum sample). Similarly, 8 (1.2%) of sputum samples were positive by ZN but none from gastric aspirate. Of 244 children who submitted sputum samples, 3 (1.2%) were bacteriologically positive compared to 12 (4.9%) by Xpert. Of 96 children who submitted gastric aspirate samples, none were positive by ZN while 5 (5.2%) were positive by Xpert. Of bacteriologically confirmed TB cases 0.9% was by ZN and 4.7% by Xpert, an increase of 3.8%. Pooled testing increased positivity by 0.3% for ZN and 1.5% by Xpert compared to the 1st sample. Conclusions: Xpert MTB/RIF testing increases yield compared to ZN testing for gastric aspirate samples. The same-day approach and pooling samples improves efficient use of cartridge, reduce the number of visits for seeking diagnosis and save resources.

Corn Water Variables Assessments from Earth Observation Data in the Sao Paulo State, Southeast Brazil

Landsat satellite images and agrometeorological data were used together for modelling the crop coefficient （Kc） in irrigation pivots composed by a mixture of corn hybrids from a commercial farm for grains and silage, located at the northwestern side of Sao Paulo state, Brazil. After developing relationships between Kc and the accumulated degree-days （DDac） and having yield data for 2012 available, they were applied in the whole state, to upscale the crop water variables, during the GS （growing seasons） of a second-harvest crop from March to August. Spatial thermohydrological differences among the main corn growing regions were clear. The largest CWP （crop water productivity） values and SD （standard deviations） were for Itapetininga with an average value of 1.60 ± 0.43 kg m-3, while the lowest ones were for Presidente Prudente （0.81±0.21 kg m-3）. As corn is important for these growing regions, being inside of the priorities from the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, these results should be considered for a rational exploration, including both, irrigation and rainfed conditions, as the actual water scarcity can bring much competition with other non-agricultural sectors.

BACKGROUND Faecal immunochemical test(FIT)has been recommended to assess symptomatic patients for colorectal cancer(CRC)***,some conditions could theoretically favour blood originating in proximal areas of the gastrointestinal tract passing through the colon unmetabolized.A positive FIT result could be related to other gastrointestinal cancers(GIC).AIM To assess the risk of GIC detection and related death in FIT-positive symptomatic patients(threshold 10μg Hb/g faeces)without *** Post hoc cohort analysis performed within two prospective diagnostic test studies evaluating the diagnostic accuracy of different FIT analytical systems for CRC and significant colonic lesion *** patients with gastrointestinal symptoms referred consecutively for colonoscopy from primary and secondary healthcare,underwent a quantitative FIT before undergoing a complete *** without CRC were divided into two groups(positive and negative FIT)using the threshold of 10μg Hb/g of faeces and data from follow-up were retrieved from electronic medical records of the public hospitals involved in the *** determined the cumulative risk of GIC,CRC and upper *** rate(HR)was calculated adjusted by age,sex and presence of significant colonic *** We included 2709 patients without CRC and a complete baseline colonoscopy,730(26.9%)with FIT≥10μgr Hb/*** a mean time of 45.5±20.0 mo,a GIC was detected in 57(2.1%)patients:An upper GIC in 35(1.3%)and a CRC in 14(0.5%).Thirty-six patients(1.3%)died due to GIC:22(0.8%)due to an upper GIC and 9(0.3%)due to ***-positive subjects showed a higher CRC risk(HR 3.8,95%CI:1.2-11.9)with no differences in GIC(HR 1.5,95%CI:0.8-2.7)or upper GIC risk(HR 1.0,95%CI:0.5-2.2).Patients with a positive FIT had only an increased risk of CRC-related death(HR 10.8,95%CI:2.1-57.1)and GIC-related death(HR 2.2,95%CI:1.1-4.3),with no differences in upper GIC-related death(HR 1.4,95%CI:0.6-3.3).An

Evaluation of Stress Corrosion Cracking Damage to an API 5L X52 Pipeline Transporting Ammonia: A Case Study

The high number of leak events that took place in recent years at a 25.4 cm (10”)Øpipeline transporting anhydrous liquid ammonia, located in the Southeast of Mexico, was the main reason to carry out a number of field studies and laboratory tests that helped establish not only the failure causes but also mitigation and control solutions. The performed activities included direct evaluation at failure sites, total repair programs, metallographic studies and pipeline flexibility analyses. The obtained results were useful to conclude that the failures obeyed a cracking mechanism by Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) which was caused by the combined effect of different factors: high stress resistance, high hardness of the base metal with a microstructure prone to brittleness and residual strains originated during the pipeline construction. From the operative, logistic and financial standpoints, it is not feasible to release the stress of approximately 22 km of pipeline. Therefore, the only viable solution is to install a new pipeline with suitable fabrication, construction and installation specifications aimed at preventing the SCC phenomenon.

Gastric Outlet Obstruction by a Hydrocholecyst. A Very Rare Variant of Bouveret Syndrome: A Case Report

It is estimated that between 0.3% - 0.5% of patients with cholelithiasis have biliary ileus, of this small proportion, only between 1% - 3% is complicated by the syndrome described in 1896 by Leon Bouveret. Bouveret syndrome refers to the obstruction of the gastric outlet tract secondary to the passage and impactation of a gallstone in the duodenum, through a cholecystoduodenal fistula. It is most common in women, between the ages of 74 - 77 and is clinically characterized by pain, bloating, incoercible vomiting and anorexia.

Coastal zones are very dynamic and fragile environments, constituting a landscape ever more heterogeneous, fragmented and with increasing levels of complexity due to the changing relationship between man and nature. Integrated coastal zone management therefore requires detailed knowledge of the system and its components, based—to a large extent—on technical and scientific information. However, the information generated must be in line with the political requirements necessary for decision-making and planning. Thus the use of indicators to give a simplified view of the many components of the territory, and at the same time to provide important information about patterns or trends, becomes a tool of the utmost importance. These indicators can be understood as measurable characteristics of the environment, which facilitate comprehension of the processes occurring at different scales and serve as a reference to inform the population and support decision-making. The aim of the present note is to demonstrate briefly the need to develop geographical-environmental and natural risk indicators to facilitate comprehension of the dynamic of spatial and temporal landscape patterns, particularly in coastal environments. This approach offers an historical summary of the natural, socio-economic and political processes which currently make up the territory, and which without doubt will continue to influence it in the future. At the same time, it is proposed that information should be integrated on the basis of this framework with a view to generating spatial decision support systems in a context of planning and integrated management of the coastal zones of Chile.
