The synthesis and self-assembly of tetragonal phase-containing L10-Fe55Pt45 nanorods with high coercive field is described. The experimental procedure resulted in a tetragonal/cubic phase ratio close to 1：1 for the as-synthesized nanoparticles. Using different surfactant/solvent proportions in the process allowed control of particle morphology from nanospheres to nanowires. Monodisperse nanorods with lengths of 60 ＋ 5 nm and diameters of 2-3 nm were self-assembled in a perpendicular oriented array onto a substrate surface using hexadecylamine as organic spacer. Magnetic alignment and properties assigned, respectively, to the shape anisotropy and the tetragonal phase suggest that the self-assembled materials are a strong candidate to solve the problem of random magnetic alignment observed in FePt nanospheres leading to applications in ultrahigh magnetic recording （UHMR） systems capable of achieving a performance of the order of terabits/in2.

Objective:To improve the knowledge on the metabolite composition of Endopleura uchi bark,concerning phenolic compounds,and to evaluate some of its biological capacities for further possible exploitation in food and pharmaceutical industries associated to their healthpromoting ***:Two different extracts(infusion and hydroethanolic) were studied concerning phenolic composition and biological ***:Five compounds were determined by HPLC-DAD,being bergenin the major *** general way,infusion presents a greater richness in these *** antioxidant,***,α-glucosidase and antibacterial activity were checked by in vitro assays.A dose-dependent response was noticed against DPPH,superoxide and nitric oxide radicals,acetylcholinesterase,butyrylcholinesterase and against α-glucosidase inhibitory *** capacity of both extracts was investigated against Gram-positive and Gramnegative bacteria,being more effective against the first *** concentrations of infusion extract tested here revealed that is non-toxic for intestinal(Caco-2) cells ***:The results suggest that the extracts of Endopleura uchi may be interesting for incorporating in pharmaceutical preparations for human health,since it can suppress hyperglycaemia and inhibit cholinesteases,and or as food additive due to its antiradical and antibacterial activities.

The evaporation process has been studied widely in the past in order to understand the mechanisms and driving forces that induce the flow in multiphase *** knowledge is essential in industrial and real-life applications and systems such as oil recovery,soil remediation,water management in fuel cells,and *** this study,isothermal experiments at 21.5,46.7,and 74.1 ℃;and non-isothermal experiments with gradients of 10,20,and30 ℃ have been conducted in a 2D microfluidic pore network in order to observe the phase distribution,liquid-gas interface movement,liquid bridges,and capillary instability events induced by the dynamics of multi-phase *** find a relation between saturation and the flow rate during capillary instability *** show the formation and disappearance mechanisms of liquid bridges for all the non-isothermal and isothermal experiments at46.7,and 74.1 ℃.The effects of temperature in saturation,evaporation rate,capillary stability,specific interfacial area,and liquid bridges are also discussed in this *** temperature significantly impacts the evaporation rate,inducing different pathways when the gas phase recedes within the pore network and a shorter time duration for the overall evaporation *** instability is another phenomenon that affects the phase pattern and ***,it is not easy to observe and consider due to its duration(significantly shorter in comparison with the evaporation time)and unpredictability in the occurrence of a new ***,for the non-isothermal experiments,linear behavior is observed for the gradient between cold and hot temperatures.

Fiscal decentralization in Brazil has promoted a break in the national collection system and granted greater autonomy to states and municipalities against the federal government with regard to fundraising. The theoretical difference emerged, when one observes the greatest proliferation of local entities from the autonomy granted by the Federal Constitution （FC） from 1988 to the various levels of government, many of which almost totally depend on inter-governmental transfers. There are those who advocate the strengthening of public actions from observing the problems of small units （municipalities） and who will now have greater decision-making freedom. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the public finances of municipalities in the core theoretical （all people born in Espirito Santo） state guided by the Fiscal Responsibility Law （FRL） and fiscal decentralization in the country. For this purpose, they were taken as the time frame 2001 and 2009. Methodologically, this paper used a literature review, as well as data from the National Treasury Secretariat （STN）. In addition, authors took as a tool to help multiple regression models to strengthen the results. The principal evidence shows that, even with a slight improvement in the framework of indicators of revenue, these municipalities have proved essentially dependent on resources from the Union. Additionally, the results show a relative reduction of spending on items, such as staff costs and legislation in one year to another. In parallel, there were greater participation of the variables, costs of health and sanitation, education and culture, among others, to explain the variation of the expenditure of municipalities in Espirito Santo in the years observed. The data fit well to the model with a significance level of 1%.

High strength nickel based alloys are used in a multitude of advanced systems where lightweight, high power density mechanical power transmission systems are required. Components such as gears, bearings and shafts could be made significantly smaller and more durable if a major improvement in nickel based alloy mechanical properties could be achieved. An important refinement in grain size (includes nanometric level) is thought to be a promising method for achieving fundamental improvements in mechanical properties. Grain size is known to have a significant effect on the mechanical behavior of materials. One of the most favorable methods of achieving extreme grain refinement is by subjecting the materials to severe plastic deformation (SPD). The principal micro-structural variations in superalloys are the precipitation amount and morphology, grain size and the distribution of carbide precipitation that could reduce the mechanical properties of the alloys. This work shows optical and transmission electron microscopy analysis and also hardness data after severe plastic deformation (pure shear stress).

AIM: To investigate age, sex, histopathology and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) status, as risk factors for gastroduodenal disease outcome in Brazilian dyspeptic *** submitted to upper gastroscopy at Hospital das Clinicas of Marilia, antral biopsy specimens were obtained and subjected to histopathology and H. pylori diagnosis. All patients presenting chronic gastritis (CG) and peptic ulcer (PU) disease localized in the stomach, gastric ulcer (GU) and/or duodenal ulcer (DU) were included in the study. Gastric biopsies (n = 668) positive for H. pylori by rapid urease test were investigated for vacuolating cytotoxin A (vacA ) medium (m) region mosaicism by polymerase chain reaction. Logistic regression analysis was performed to verify the association of age, sex, histopathologic alterations, H. pylori diagnosis and vacA m region mosaicism with the incidence of DU, GU and CG in patients. RESULTS: Of 1466 patients submitted to endoscopy, 1060 (72.3%) presented CG [male/female = 506/554; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.2 ± 17.81], 88 (6.0%) presented DU [male/female = 54/34; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.4 ± 17.14], and 75 (5.1%) presented GU [male/female = 54/21; mean age (year) ± SD = 51.3 ± 17.12] and were included in the comparative analysis. Sex and age showed no detectable effect on CG incidence (overall c 2 = 2.1, P = 0.3423). Sex [Odds ratios (OR) = 1.8631, P = 0.0058] but not age (OR = 0.9929, P = 0.2699) was associated with DU and both parameters had a highly significant effect on GU (overall c 2 = 30.5, P < 0.0001). The histopathological results showed a significant contribution of ageing for both atrophy (OR = 1.0297, P < 0.0001) and intestinal metaplasia (OR = 1.0520, P < 0.0001). Presence of H. pylori was significantly associated with decreasing age (OR = 0.9827, P < 0.0001) and with the incidence of DU (OR = 3.6077, P < 0.0001). In this study,vine pruning wastes(VPW)were used as raw material to develop an alternative activated carbon(VPW-AC)for adsorbing and concentrating rare earth elements cerium(Ce(Ⅲ))and lanthanum(La(Ⅲ))from synthetic and real leachate *** Ce and La adsorption studies evaluated the effects of VPW-AC dosage,pH,contact time,rare earth initial concentration,and *** VPW-AC adsorbent was subjected to many physicochemical characterization methods to correlate and understand its adsorptive *** characterization data indicate a carbonaceous adsorbent with a specific surface area of 467 m^(2)/*** potential indicates a material with a negatively charged surface at a pH higher than 3.1,which is extremely beneficial to cations *** both rare earths elements(REEs),the adsorption capacity increases with the increase of the pH,reaching its maximum at pH *** kinetic data are well fitted by Avrami-fractional o rder,while the Liu model agreeably fits equilibrium *** maximum adsorption capacities for Ce(Ⅲ)and La(Ⅲ)are 48.45 and 53.65 mg/g at 298 K,*** thermodynamic studies suggest that the adsorption process is favorable,spontaneous,and exothermic for both *** filling,surface complexation,and ion exchange are the dominant ***,the VPW-AC was subjected to the recovery of REEs from real phosphogypsum leachate,and it is proved that it can be successfully used to recover REEs in a real process.

AIM:To investigate the value of elevated drain amylase concentrations for detecting anastomotic leakage(AL) after minimally invasive Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy(MIILE).METHODS:This was a retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data in two hospitals in the Netherlands. Consecutive patients undergoing MI-ILE were included. A Jackson-Pratt drain next to the dorsal side of the anastomosis and bilateral chest drains were placed at the end of the thoracoscopic procedure. Amylase levels in drain fluid were determined in all patients during at least the first four postoperative days. Contrast computed tomography scans and/or endoscopic imaging were performed in cases of a clinically suspected AL. Anastomotic leakage was defined as any sign of leakage of the esophago-gastric anastomosis on endoscopy,re-operation,radiographic investigations,post mortal examination or when gastro-intestinal contents were found in drain fluid. Receiver operator characteristic curves were used to determine the cut-off values. Sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value,risk ratio and overall test accuracy were calculated for elevated drain amylase ***:A t o t a l o f 8 9 p a t ie n t s w e re in c lu d e d between March 2013 and August 2014. No differences in group characteristics were observed between patients with and without AL,except for age. Patients with AL were older than were patients without AL(P = 0.01). One patient(1.1%) without AL died within 30 d after surgery due to pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Anastomotic leakage that required any intervention occurred in 15 patients(16.9%). Patients with proven anastomotic leakage had higher drain amylase levels than patients without anastomotic leakage [median 384 IU/L(IQR 34-6263) vs median 37 IU/L(IQR 26-66),P = 0.003].
