Noise pollution is becoming a critical health risk for city *** 2020,the CoVID-19 pandemic forced many cities to implement several mobility *** restrictions changed human activity patterns and decreased the noise levels and noise pollution that often affect urban *** the number of infections decreased,so did the outdoor activities,influencing the population’s perception of *** paper aims to evaluate the changes in noise levels associated with mobility restrictions between 2020 and 2021 in Guayaquil,*** study used crowdsourcing with the help of smartphones and mobile applications to collect geo-referenced environmental noise *** data was used to generate noise maps in different time ***,noise level maps were created using GIs-based tools to identify the urban areas that experienced the highest noise level variation during the study *** results show that the most significant noise increase occurred at ***,when analyzing noise level changes in different urban areas,the western area of Guayaquil was the one that experienced the most significant noise level *** inform the perception of noise pollution and could potentially serve as a reference for decision-makers during the proposal of public policies that ensure a better quality of life for its citizens.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the leading cause of chronic liver disease in the western world(1).Currently,the global prevalence of NAFLD is estimated at 30%and is notably higher in south America and the Middle East(1).NAFLD prevalence has been rising during the last decades,and cases of decompensated NAFLD cirrhosis could increase by 168%in 2030(Figure 1A)(2).These trends are probably explained by several factors including the decrease in viral hepatitis incidence and the increasing prevalence of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)among the general population(2).

The largest accidental marine oil spill (4.9 million barrels) in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) seabed (1600 m) caused by the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in 2010, put to the test once again the resilient capacity of the pelagic and benthic realms of this Large Marine Ecosystem. Many are the ecological services provided by its waters (fisheries, tourism, aquaculture and fossil fuel reserves) to neighboring countries (Us, Mexico and Cuba). However, the unprecedented volumes of hydrocarbons, gas and chemical dispersants (Corexit) introduced in the system, represent ecological stressors whose deleterious effects are still the subject of civil claims and scientific controversy. Presumably, the short scale effects were confined to the Gulf’s northeastern shallow waters, and the combined actions of weathering, biodegradation, and oil recovery left the system almost under pre-spill conditions. Unfortunately, surface and subsurface oil plumes were detected in the spill aftermath, and their dispersion trajectories threatened Mexico EEZ. surface oil slicks were detected in the pristine waters of northern Yucatán, while subsurface oil plumes from the Macondo’s well blowout were dangerously advancing southwest towards key fishing grounds in the northwestern GoM. This disaster prompted the Mexican government to implement an ambitious ocean monitoring program adopting a bottom-up approach focused on building a base line for more than 42 physicochemical and biological variables for water, sediment and biota from the continental shelf-slope region of the NW GoM. Technological constraints have precluded systematic observations in the vast Mexican EEZ that could discriminate natural variability and oil seep emissions from antropic disturbances. Therefore, preliminary risk analyses relied on seasonal and historical records. objective:Nonspecific complaints of hearing loss,vertigo,imbalance,and instability,without a defined etiology,are very prevalent in the elderly population,with a great impact on morbidity and mortality in this age *** objectives of this study were to verify whether there is age-related vestibular dysfunction and to test the association of vestibular dysfunction with presbycusis in the elderly ***:original retrospective analytical cross-sectional study,carried out with 80 patients who underwent a videonystagmography and complete audiometric evaluation due to nonspecific vestibular complaints,without a specific vestibular disorder *** were selected and divided into two distinct age groups(group A:>60 years;group B:18-50 years)and,in both groups,we analyzed the caloric tests and the pure-tone ***:In the vestibular evaluation,we found that there was a statistically significant difference(Poups in the prevalence of bilateral vestibular weakness(group A:22.5%;group B:5%),and that the increase in age,above 60 years,is negatively correlated with the mean total caloric ***,we obtained a reasonable negative and statistically significant correlation(r=-0.320,Pone conduction thresholds at high frequencies and total caloric responses in group ***:In patients with hearing loss,it is essential to perform a complete vestibular study to diagnose vestibular disorders and,consequently,prevent adverse outcomes that may result from these alterations.

After depletion of intracellular Ca^(2+)stores the capacitative response triggers an extracellular Ca^(2+)influx through store-operated channels(soCs)which refills these *** objective was to explore if human umbilical artery smooth muscle presented this response and if it was involved in the mechanism of serotonin-and histamine-induced *** Ca^(2+)depletion by a Ca^(2+)-free extracellular solution followed by Ca^(2+)readdition produced a contraction in artery rings which was inhibited by the blocker of orai and TRPC channels 2-aminoethoxydiphenyl borate(2-APB),suggesting a capacitative *** presence of 2-APB the magnitude of a second paired contraction by serotonin or histamine was significantly less than a first one,likely because 2-APB inhibited store refilling by capacitative Ca^(2+)entry.2-APB inhibition of sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca^(2+)release was excluded because this blocker did not affect serotonin force development in a Ca^(2+)-free *** PCR technique showed the presence of mRNAs for sTIM proteins(1 and 2),for orai proteins(1,2 and 3)and for TRPC channels(subtypes 1,3,4 and 6)in the smooth muscle of the human umbilical ***,this artery presents a capacitative contractile response triggered by stimulation with physiological vasoconstrictors and expresses mRNAs for proteins and channels previously identified as soCs.

Cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)is characterized by heterogeneous mutations and a refractory ***,the development of a model for effective drug screening is urgently *** the established therapeutic testing models for CCA are often ineffective,we fabricated an enabling three-dimensional(3D)-bioprinted CCA-on-a-chip model that to a good extent resembled the multicellular microenvironment and the anatomical microstructure of the hepato-vascular-biliary system to perform high-content antitumor drug ***,cholangiocytes,hepatocytes,and vascular endotheliocytes were employed for 3D bioprinting of the models,allowing for a high degree of spatial and tube-like microstructural ***,it was possible to observe CCA cells attached to the surfaces of the gelatin methacryloyl(GelMA)hydrogelembedded microchannels and overgrown in a thickening manner,generating bile duct stenosis,which was expected to be analogous to the in vivo *** 4000 differentially expressed genes were detected in the CCA cells in our 3D coculture model compared to the traditional two-dimensional(2D)*** screening revealed that the CCA cells grown in the 3D traditional model were more sensitive to the antitumoral prodrug than those in the 2D monoculture due to drug biotransformation by the neighboring functional *** study provides proof-of-concept validation of our bioprinted CCA-on-a-chip as a promising drug screening model for CCA treatment and paves the way for potential personalized medicine strategies for CCA patients in the future.

Lead-free tin perovskite solar cells(PsCs)have undergone rapid development in recent years and are regarded as a promising ecofriendly photovoltaic ***,a strategy to suppress charge recombination via a built-in electric field inside a tin perovskite crystal is still *** the present study,a formamidinium tin iodide(FAsnI;)perovskite absorber with a vertical sn;gradient was fabricated using a Lewis base-assisted recrystallization method to enhance the built-in electric field and minimize the bulk recombination loss inside the tin ***-dependent X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the Fermi level upshifts with an increase in sn;content from the bottom to the top in this heterogeneous FAsnI;film,which generates an additional electric field to prevent the trapping of photo-induced electrons and ***,the sn;-gradient FAsnI;absorber exhibits a promising efficiency of 13.82%for inverted tin PsCs with an open-circuit voltage increase of 130 mV,and the optimized cell maintains over 13%efficiency after continuous operation under 1-sun illumination for 1,000 h.

We review steady spherically symmetric accretion onto a renormalization group improved schwarzschild space-time,which is a solution to an asymptotically safe theory(As)containing high-derivative *** use a Hamiltonian dynamical system approach for the analysis of the accretion of four types of isothermal test fluids:ultra-stiff fluid,ultra-relativistic fluid,radiation fluid,and sub-relativistic *** important outcome of our study is that,contrary to the claim in a recent work,there are physical solutions for the accretion of an ultra-relativistic fluid in As,which include subsonic,supersonic,and transonic ***,we study quantum corrections to the known stability of the accretion in general relativity(GR).To this end,we use a perturbative procedure based on the continuity equation with the mass accretion rate being the perturbed *** classes of perturbations are studied:standing and traveling *** find that quantum gravity effects either enhance or diminish the stability of the accretion depending on the type of test fluid and the radial distance to the central object.

Hydropower is a clean,renewable,and environmentally friendly source of *** produces 3930(TW·h)·a–1,and yields 16% of the world's generated electricity and about 78% of renewable electricity generation(in 2015).Hydropower and climate change show a double *** the one hand,as an important renewable energy resource,hydropower contributes significantly to the avoidance of greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions and to the mitigation of global *** the other hand,climate change is likely to alter river discharge,impacting water availability and hydropower *** contributes significantly to the reduction of GHG emissions and to energy supply *** with conventional coal power plants,hydropower prevents the emission of about 3 GT Co2 per year,which represents about 9% of global annual Co2 *** projects may also have an enabling role beyond the electricity sector,as a financing instrument for multipurpose reservoirs and as an adaptive measure regarding the impacts of climate change on water resources,because regulated basins with large reservoir capacities are more resilient to water resource changes,less vulnerable to climate change,and act as a storage buffer against climate *** the global level,the overall impact of climate change on existing hydropower generation may be expected to be small,or even slightly ***,there is the possibility of substantial variations across regions and even within *** conclusion,the general verdict on hydropower is that it is a cheap and mature technology that contributes significantly to climate change mitigation,and could play an important role in the climate change adaptation of water resource ***,careful attention is necessary to mitigate the substantial environmental and social *** more than a terawatt of capacity could be added in upcoming decades.
