A techno-economic and life cycle assessment for the production of green methanol from Co_(2): catalyst and process bottlenecks

The success of catalytic schemes for the large-scale valorization of Co_(2) does not only depend on the development of active,selective and stable catalytic materials but also on the overall process *** we present a multidisciplinary study(from catalyst to plant and techno-economic/lifecycle analysis)for the production of green methanol from renewable H2 and Co_(2).We combine an in-depth kinetic analysis of one of the most promising recently reported methanol-synthesis catalysts(InCo)with a thorough process simulation and techno-economic *** then perform a life cycle assessment of the simulated process to gauge the real environmental impact of green methanol production from Co_(2).our results indicate that up to 1.75 ton of Co_(2) can be abated per ton of produced methanol only if renewable energy is used to run the process,while the sensitivity analysis suggest that either rock-bottom H2 prices(1.5$kg1)or severe Co_(2) taxation(300$per ton)are needed for a profitable methanol ***,we herein highlight and analyze some critical bottlenecks of the *** attention has been paid to the contribution of H2 to the overall plant costs,CH4 trace formation,and purity and costs of raw *** addition to providing important information for policy makers and industrialists,directions for catalyst(and therefore process)improvements are outlined.

Background The Ibizan Hound is a canine breed native to the Mediterranean region,where leishmaniasis is an endemic *** studies indicate a low prevalence of this disease in Ibizan Hound dogs,whereas other canine breeds present a high ***,the underlying molecular mechanisms still remain *** aim of this work is to analyse the relationship between serum levels of cytokines and the genomic profiles in two canine breeds,Ibizan Hound(resistant canine breed model)and Boxer(susceptible canine breed model).Methods In this study,we analyse the haplotypes of genes encoding cytokines related to immune response of Leishmania infantum infection in twenty-four Boxers and twenty-eight Ibizan Hounds apparently healthy using CanineHD DNA Analysis BeadChip including 165,480 mapped *** *** extension of *** was used to perform a General Linear Model(GLM)regression to estimate the magnitude of individual haplotype effects within each *** Mean levels of interferon gamma(IFN-γ),interleukin 2(IL-2)and IL-18 in Boxer dogs were 0.19±0.05 ng/ml,46.70±4.54 ng/ml,and 36.37±30.59 pg/ml,whereas Ibizan Hound dogs present 0.49±0.05 ng/ml,64.55±4.54 ng/ml,and 492.10±31.18 pg/ml,*** GLM regression shows fifteen haplotypes with statistically significant effect on the cytokine serum levels(Pore relevant are IL6-CGAAG and IFNG-GCA haplotypes,which increase and decrease the IL-2,IL-8 and IFN-γserum levels,*** Haplotypes in the IFNG and IL6 genes have been correlated to serum levels of IFN-γ,IL-2 and IL-18,and a moderate effect has been found on IL8 haplotype correlated to IL-8 and IL-18 serum *** results indicate that the resistance to *** infection could be a consequence of certain haplotypes with a high frequency in the Ibizan Hound dog breed,while susceptibility to the disease would be related to other specific haplotypes,with high frequency in *** studies are nee

Background:Habitat loss and fragmentation in the sierra Madre oriental(sMo)ecological corridor have negative impacts on the movement and distribution of mammalian species that are of great ecological and evolutionary *** of the sMo ecological corridor that is located in the state of Hidalgo is less studied despite being a potential dispersal route for *** objectives of this study were to evaluate the presence and activity of terrestrial mammals in the riparian and non‑riparian zones of ***:Camera traps detected 15 mammalian species(i.e.,14 native and 1 domestic)in the non‑riparian zone,and 12 mammalian species in the riparian zone(i.e.,10 wild and 2 domestic).The riparian corridor was mainly used by opportunistic medium‑sized carnivores,while large carnivores and their potential prey were more frequent in the non‑riparian ***:our findings suggest terrestrial mammals avoid the use of natural corridors due to the presence of domestic dogs,cattle and humans and look for new dispersal routes to move through their habitat and find the resources they need to *** though some species can use disturbed corridors to move and find resources,they will change their activity patterns to avoid contact with humans and potential threats like *** is,therefore,crucial to identify not one,but several corridors that must be preserved to improve the connectivity of terrestrial mammals in disturbed landscapes.

systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease with an etiopathogenesis that is still unclear. With a higher incidence in women of childbearing age. Pregnancy in patients suffering from this pathology is a constant challenge for multidisciplinary teams. The changes of pregnancy, especially to the immune system and the kidney, have repercussions on the renal compromise secondary to lupus. Lupus nephropathy is more active during pregnancy and leads to adverse outcomes for the mother-fetus binomial. The early identification of pregnant women with a higher risk of complications, access to health resources and the participation of a multidisciplinary team is the strategy that increases maternal-fetal survival. A report case of a 25-year-old black female with sLE and a 10-week pregnancy who was admitted to the emergency department with criteria for dialysis. The literature focused on lupus nephritis and dialysis in pregnancy was reviewed. Articles were reviewed in databases such as PubMed, Cochrane, among others, focused on the topic of pregnancy with sLE and pregnancy with dialysis. A total of 15 review articles, 2 meta-analyses, 3 observational studies and 6 cohort studies (3 prospective and 3 retrospective) were filtered.

Flowback and early-time production modeling of unconventional gas wells using an improved semi-analytical method

Multiple fractured horizontal wells (MFHWs) currently are the only possible means of commercial production from the low and ultra-low permeability unconventional gas reservoirs. In early production time, flowback fluid, which constitutes of hydraulic water and gas flow within fractures, is collected and analyzed. Flowback analysis has been shown to be a useful tool to estimate key properties of the hydraulic fracture such as conductivity and pore volume. Until date, most tools of flowback analysis rely on empirical and approximate methods. This study presents an improved Green-function-based semi-analytical solution for performance analysis of horizontal gas wells during flowback and early production periods. The proposed solution is derived based on coupling the solutions of two domains: a rigorously derived Green’s function-based integral solution for single-phase gas flow in matrix, and a finite-difference, multiphase solution for gas–water two-phase flow in the fracture. The validity of proposed semi-analytical solution is verified by finely gridded numerical models built in a commercial simulator for a series of synthetic cases considering a variety of fluid and reservoir property combinations, as well as various different production constraints. Comparisons against available empirical and approximate methods are also provided for these cases.

Feeding ecology of a highly aerial bird during its long breeding season

Pallid swifts(Apus pallidus),as other swifts,are birds extremely adapted to an aerial lifestyle,showing unique adaptations that allow them to fly almost *** diet of these non-stopping high-altitudinal aerial birds has been mostly studied through techniques that fail to produce highly resolved prey identifications,and for that have been replaced by molecular techniques,such as DNA *** samples of Pallid swifts were monthly collected from a colony in the north of Portugal during the breeding *** from the faecal samples was used to sex the birds and to identify the arthropods present in the diet through DNA *** the detected prey items,74 families were identified belonging to 16 orders,with Hymenoptera and Hemiptera being the most frequently *** were seasonal variations in diet richness,composition and prey *** the diet of males and females,although no differences were found between the diet of males and females in terms of composition and richness,there were differences in the size of arthropods preyed by the different sexes,with males feeding on larger *** large seasonal variation in Pallid swifts’diet during the breeding season is probably a result of spatiotemporal variation in aerial prey,of which swifts likely predate *** no significant differences were detected in diet richness and composition between sexes,the fact that males consumed larger prey may suggest the existence of sexual dietary segregation in this group of *** last,several pest species were found in these swifts’diet,which,if studied through DNA metabarcoding,can be used to monitor small arthropods,including airborne pests.
