Feeding strategies of an organism depend on the multimodal sensory processing that most efficiently integrates available visual,chemosensory,and/or mechanoreceptive cues as part of their environmental *** blind cavefish morph of Astyanax mexicanus has developed sensory-dependent behaviors to find food more efficiently than their eyed,surface-morph counterparts while in *** the absence of light,adult cavefish have evolved enhanced behaviors,such as vibration attraction behavior(VAB),and changes in feeding ***,we identified evolved differences in cavefish larval prey capture(LPC)*** the dark,LPC is more efficient in cavefish than in surface ***,different cave populations express laterality in their LPC and strike towards prey preferentially located on their left or right *** suggests the occurrence,to some extent,of divergent LPC evolution among cave *** LPC can be triggered exclusively by a vibration stimulus in both surface and cavefish,we provide evidence that LPC is,at least partially,a multimodal sensory process different from adult *** also found that a lack of food may exacerbate the laterality of ***,we proposed a mathematical model for explaining laterality based on a balance between:(1)enlarged range of foraging field(behavioral or perceptive)due to asymmetry,(2)food abundance,and(3)disadvantages caused by laterality(unequal lateral hydrodynamic resistance when swimming,allocation of resources for the brain and receptors,and predator escape).

Applicability of optoacoustic imaging in biology and medicine is determined by several key performance *** particular,an inherent trade-off exists between the acquired field-of-view(FOV)and temporal resolution of the measurements,which may hinder studies looking at rapid biodynamics at the whole-body ***,we report on a single-sweep volumetric optoacoustic tomography(sSVOT)system that attains whole body three-dimensional mouse scans within 1.8 s with better than 200μm spatial *** employs a spherical matrix array transducer in combination with multibeam illumination,the latter playing a critical role in maximizing the effective FOV and imaging speed *** system further takes advantage of the spatial response of the individual ultrasound detection elements to mitigate common image artifacts related to limited-view tomographic geometry,thus enabling rapid acquisitions without compromising image quality and *** compare performance metrics to the previously reported whole-body mouse imaging implementations and alternative image compounding and reconstruction *** is anticipated that sSVOT will open new venues for studying large-scale biodynamics,such as accumulation and clearance of molecular agents and drugs across multiple organs,circulation of cells,and functional responses to stimuli.

Occult hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection(OBI) is characterized by the persistence of HBV DNA in the liver tissue in individuals negative for the HBV surface *** prevalence of OBI is quite variable depending on the level of endemic disease in different parts of the world,the different assays utilized in the studies,and the different populations *** studies have been carried out on OBI prevalence in different areas of the world and categories of *** studies show that OBI prevalence seems to be higher among subjects at high risk for HBV infection and with liver disease than among individuals at low risk of infection and without liver disease.

All-inorganic α-CsPbBr_(x)I_(3-x)perovskites featuring nano-sized crystallites show great potential for pure-red light-emitting diode(LED)***,the CsPbBr_(x)I_(3-x)LEDs based on nano-sized α-CsPbBr_(x)I_(3-x)crystallites have been fabricated mainly via the classical colloidal route including a tedious procedure of nanocrystal synthesis,purification,ligand or anion exchange,film casting,*** the usually adopted conventional LED device structure,only high turn-on voltages(>2.7)have been achieved for CsPbBrxl3-x ***,this mix-halide system may suffer from severe spectra-shift under *** this report,CsPbBr_(x)I_(3-x)thin films featuring nano-sized crystallites are prepared by incorporating multiple ammonium ligands in a one-step spin-coating *** multiple ammonium ligands constrain the growth of CsPbBr_(x)I_(3-x)*** CsPbBr_(x)I_(3-x)thin films benefit from quantum *** corresponding CsPbBr_(x)I_(3-x)LEDs,adopting a conventional LED structure of indium-doped tin oxide(ITO)/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS)/CsPbBr_(x)I_(3-x)/[6,6]-phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester(PCBm)/bathocuproine(BCP)/AI,emit pure-red color at Commission Internationale de I'eclairage(CIE)coordinates of(0.709,0.290),(0.711,0.289),etc.,which represent the highest color-purity for reported pure-red perovskite LEDs and meet the Rec.2020 requirement at CIE(0.708,0.292)very *** CsPbBr_(x)I_(3-x)LED shows a low turn-on voltage of 1.6 V,maximum external quantum efficiency of 8.94%,high luminance of 2,859 cd·m^(-2),and good color stability under bias.

Hepatic hemangioma(HH)is the most common benign liver tumor and it is usually found incidentally during radiological *** tumor arises from a vascular malformation;however,the pathophysiology has not been clearly *** usually correlate with the size and location of the *** commonly the presence of a large HH may cause life-threatening *** diagnosis can be established by the identification of HH hallmarks in several imaging *** patients that present with abdominal symptoms other etiologies should be excluded first before attributing HH as the *** asymptomatic patient’s treatment is not required and follow up is usually reserved for HH of more than 5 *** patients can be managed surgically or with other non-surgical modalities such as transcatheter arterial embolization or radiofrequency *** surgery has shown to have fewer complications as compared to hepatectomy or other surgical *** of the tumor is seen in less than 40%.Hormone stimulation may play a role in HH growth;however,there are no contraindications for hormonal therapy in patients with HH due to the lack of concrete *** clinicians encounter this condition,they should discern between observation and surgical or non-surgical management based on the clinical presentation.

Aims Plants control leaf phenology to maximize annual photosynthetic *** ferns play an important ecological role in many habitats,especially forests,their phenology traits have been poorly ***,we investigate the leaf phenology of two ferns of the forest understorey and analyse the relationship between the timing of leaf emergence and spore dispersal and the effect of between-year climatic *** We compared the leafing and sporing phenologies of two ferns with very large(>2 m),overwintering leaves:Culcita macrocarpa and Woodwardia *** regularly monitored individuals of six popu-lations in the northwestern Iberian Peninsula during a 3-year *** studied eight phenology variables:leafing start date,leafing end date,leaf expansion time,number of new leaves per individual,between-individual synchrony,within-individual synchrony,percentage of fertile leaves and spore release *** also determined leaf mass per area(LmA)and gathered data on air temperature and *** findings Both *** and *** produce few leaves(~2 leaves individual−1 year−1),which expand simultaneously for a very long period(from midwinter to early summer),are retained for more than 1 year(37 and 19 months,respectively)and have relatively high *** traits,together with large leaf size,have also been found in seed plants from the forest understorey and represent adap-tations to this light-limited *** of both study ferns are simultaneously released in late winter,with little between-year variation caused by differences in air *** remarkable similarity between species suggests that the convergence in tim-ing of leaf emergence favours the convergence in timing of spore dispersal.

Experimental evaluation and simulation of volumetric shrinkage and warpage on polymeric composite reinforced with short natural fibers

A polymeric natural fiber-reinforced composite is developed by extrusion and injection molding process. The shrinkage and warpage of high-density polyethylene reinforced with short natural fibers of Guadua angustifolia Kunth are analyzed by experimental measure- ments and computer simulations. Autodesk moldflow and Solid Works are employed to simulate both volumetric shrinkage and warpage of injected parts at different configurations： 0wt.%, 20wt.%, 30wt.% and 40 wt.% reinforcing on shrinkage and warpage behavior of polymer composite. Become evident the restrictive effect of reinforcing on the volumetric shrinkage and warpage of injected parts. The results indicate that volumetric shrinkage of natural composite is reduced up to 58% with fiber increasing, whereas the warpage shows a reduction form 79% to 86% with major fiber content. These results suggest that it is a highly beneficial use of natural fibers to improve the assembly properties of polymeric natural fiber-reinforced composites.
