Response to chemoradiotherapy and lymph node involvement in locally advanced rectal cancer

AIM: To establish the association between lymph node involvement and the response to neoadjuvant therapy in locally advanced rectal ***: Data of 130 patients with mid and low locally advanced rectal adenocarcinoma treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiation followed by radical surgery over a 5-year period were reviewed. Tumor staging was done by endorectal ultrasound and/or magnetic resonance imaging. Tumor response to neoadjuvant therapy was determined by T-downstaging and tumor regression grading(TRG). Pathologic complete response(p CR) is defined as the absence of tumor cells in the surgical specimen(yp T0N0). The varying degrees TRG were classified according to Mandard's scoring system. The evaluation of the response is based on the comparison between previous clinico-radiological staging and the results of pathological evaluation. χ2 and Spearman's correlation tests were used for the comparison of variables. RESULTS: Pathologic complete response(p CR, yp T0N0, TRG1) was observed in 19 cases(14.6%), and other 18(13.8%) had only very few residual malignant cells in the rectal wall(TRG2). T-downstaging was found in 63(48.5%). Mean lymph node retrieval was 9.4(range0-38). In 37 cases(28.5%) more than 12 nodes were identified in the surgical specimen. Preoperative lymph node involvement was seen in 77 patients(59.2%), 71 N1 and 6 N2. Postoperative lymph node involvement was observed in 41 patients(31.5%), 29 N1 and 12 N2, while the remaining 89 were N0(68.5%). In relation to yp T stage, we found nodal involvement of 9.4% in yp T0-1, 22.2% in yp T2 and 43.7% in yp T3-4. Of the 37 patients considered "responders" to neoadjuvant therapy(TRG1 and 2), there were only 4 N+(10.8%) and the remainder N0(89.2%). In the "non responders" group(TRG 3, 4 and 5), 37 cases were N+(39.8%) and 56(60.2%) were N0(P juvant chemoradiation in rectal cancer is associated with lymph node involvement.

The massive reductions in anthropogenic emissions resulting from the COVID-19 lockdown provided a unique opportunity to evaluate the effect of mitigation measures aiming to abate air *** Mexico,the total lockdown period took place during the dry-hot season when biomass burning activity is ***,we investigate the role of biomass burning emissions on regional ozone levels in the Megalopolis of Central *** studied period covers the lockdown phases 2 and 3,and the first month of the New *** applied a factor separation technique and process analysis to estimate the pure and synergistic contributions of emission reductions under lockdown and that from biomass burning to daily ozone maximum concentrations in 7 metropolitan areas of different states in the *** results revealed that biomass burning plumes likely masked the effect of massive reductions from mobile emissions,impacted the PBL development during phase 3 and favored transition and mixed NO_(x)-limited and VOC-limited regional *** contributed to increased ozone production in the middle to lower PBL by changing the regional background levels which potentially could bias high ozone production efficiency *** the Megalopolis contribution to economic and societal development at national scale,our study suggests that ozone mitigation measures during the dry-hot season targeting mainly mobile emissions will likely be offset by biomass burning plumes.A regional and synergic policy aiming to control biomass burning would help to reduce the occurrence of high ozone levels in Central Mexico with the co-benefit of tackling short-lived climate pollutants.

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effects of a 3-month vigorous physical activity(VPA) intervention on eating behavior and body composition in overweight and obese children and ***: Forty-seven participants(7–16 years) took part in the study: 28 were assigned to the intervention group(IG)(10 boys and 18 girls) and19 in a control group(CG)(8 boys and 11 girls). Body composition(dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry), anthropometrics(body mass, height, and body mass index(BMI)), and eating behavior traits(Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire-R21 C) were determined before and after the VPA ***: A decrease in the percentage of body fat and BMI(-2.8% and-1.8%, respectively), and an increase in most lean mass variables were found in the IG(all p ≤ 0.05). In relation to the eating behavior traits, IG subjects showed a 14% reduction in the Emotional Eating score(p = 0.04),while Cognitive Restraint score did not change after the VPA intervention. The baseline factors of the questionnaire predicted changes in body mass and fat mass variables only in the ***: A 3-month VPA intervention influenced eating behaviors of overweight or obese young, especially the Emotional Eating factor, in the presence of favorable body composition changes.

A family of Ce-doped LaCoO_(3) perovskites are presented as possible catalysts for Cl-VOCs *** materials with different contents of Ce were obtained through the citrate and the reactive grinding *** insertion of Ce in the original perovskite structure favours the presence of Co^(2+)/Co^(3+) and Ce^(3+)/Ce^(4+) redox pairs and a higher content of oxygen vacancies that enhances the catalytic performance in chlorobenzene combustion based on differential kinetics *** family obtained by the grinding method presents a performance as high as that synthesized by citrate ***,the reactive grinding is a feasible green chemistry alternative to obtain a catalyst with the same performance as that obtained from traditional ***,the stability of samples was evaluated under total combustion reaction conditions showing an excellent activity during 45 h time on stream.

The objective of this exploratory study is to discover the relations between visual attention to an architectural work and the subjective experiences produced during its observation.A subjective experience with a building is the specific manner in which an architectural element or the building as a whole are presented to a *** qualities of the element as how they are perceived and the inner world of the observer are both considered in this subjective *** aims of this study are to describe the experience that a building generates in people,pinpoint what has attracted the participant's attention during each view of the building in an itinerary;and understand which aspects of this selected case study have made it an object of attend *** eye-tracking study was carried out using a portable eye *** tool allowed the participants to walk freely around the exterior of a historic train station in the city of Monterrey,*** groups of participants,with routes starting from opposite sides of the building,contemplated it while using the eye *** tracking allowed for the identification of the architectural elements that were objects of attention,the lengths of observation,and the points of view from which the elements were *** data collection techniques,such as the think-aloud protocol and a special type of survey,were used to deeply understand the experiences that accompanied the visual exploration of the historic *** suggest that the participants observed the different architectural elements for a time that was neither influenced by the route used to explore the building nor the point where that route was *** architectural elements identified as examples of high-quality architecture and perceived as aesthetically pleasing by the participants during the itinerary were observed for longer times.

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV)for forest monitoring has grown significantly in recent years,providing information with high spatial resolution and temporal *** with multispectral sensors allow the use of indexes such as the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),which determines the vigor,physiological stress and photo synthetic activity of *** study aimed to analyze the spectral responses and variations of NDVI in tree crowns,as well as their correlation with climatic factors over the course of one *** study area encompassed a 1.6-ha site in Durango,Mexico,where Pinus cembroides,Pinus engelmannii,and Quercus grisea *** images were acquired with UAV and information on meteorological variables was obtained from NASA/POWER *** ANOVA explored possible differences in NDVI among the three *** correlation was performed to identify the linear relationship between NDVI and meteorological *** differences in NDVI values were found at the genus level(Pinus and Quercus),possibly related to the physiological features of the species and their *** grisea had the lowest NDVI values throughout the year which may be attributed to its sensitivity to relative humidity and *** the use of UAV with a multispectral sensor for NDVI monitoring allowed genera differentiation,in more complex forest analyses hyperspectral and LiDAR sensors should be integrated,as well other vegetation indexes be considered.
