Recent studies highlight the strong correlation between infectious diseases and the development of neuropsychiatric *** this editorial,we comment on the article“Anti-infective therapy durations predict psychological stress and laparoscopic surgery quality in pelvic abscess patients”by Zhang et al,published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Psychiatry 2023;13(11):*** discussion highlighted the potential consequences of anxiety,depression,and psychosis,which are all linked to bacterial,fungal,and viral infections,which are relevant to the impact of inflammation on the sequelae in mental health as those we are observing after the coronavirus disease 2019 *** focus specifically on the immune mechanisms triggered by inflammation,the primary contributor to psychiatric ***,pathophysiological mechanisms such as organ damage,post-injury inflammation,and infectioninduced endocrine alterations,including hypocortisolism or autoantibody formation,significantly contribute to the development of chronic low-grade inflammation,promoting the emergence or development of psychiatric alterations in susceptible *** inflammation can have long-term effects on patients,a multidisciplinary treatment plan can avoid complications and debilitating health issues,and it is crucial to recognize and address the mental health implications.

Using Lean Manufacturing(LM)tools in production processes is crucial for companies’economic,environmental,and social sustainability *** study shows a structural equation model(SEM)that shows the relationship between LM Tools like Kaizen(KAI),Gemba(GEM),Value Stream Mapping(VSM)and Key Performance Indicator(KPI)with Economic Sustainability(ECS).Seven hypotheses were evaluated with data from 179 responses to a questionnaire about the Mexican maquiladora industry,showing that these variables are *** a 95%confidence level,the model was evaluated using the partial least squares *** findings indicate that the relationships between KAI and GEM and KAI and VSM have the strongest relationship,followed by VSM and ECS;however,VSM has the strongest effect on *** on these findings,it is recommended that managers adopt a continuous improvement(KAI)approach based on working directly on the shop floor(GEM and VSM)to support their decisions regarding economic growth(ECS).

The massive reductions in anthropogenic emissions resulting from the COVID-19 lockdown provided a unique opportunity to evaluate the effect of mitigation measures aiming to abate air *** Mexico,the total lockdown period took place during the dry-hot season when biomass burning activity is ***,we investigate the role of biomass burning emissions on regional ozone levels in the Megalopolis of Central *** studied period covers the lockdown phases 2 and 3,and the first month of the New *** applied a factor separation technique and process analysis to estimate the pure and synergistic contributions of emission reductions under lockdown and that from biomass burning to daily ozone maximum concentrations in 7 metropolitan areas of different states in the *** results revealed that biomass burning plumes likely masked the effect of massive reductions from mobile emissions,impacted the PBL development during phase 3 and favored transition and mixed NO_(x)-limited and VOC-limited regional *** contributed to increased ozone production in the middle to lower PBL by changing the regional background levels which potentially could bias high ozone production efficiency *** the Megalopolis contribution to economic and societal development at national scale,our study suggests that ozone mitigation measures during the dry-hot season targeting mainly mobile emissions will likely be offset by biomass burning plumes.A regional and synergic policy aiming to control biomass burning would help to reduce the occurrence of high ozone levels in Central Mexico with the co-benefit of tackling short-lived climate pollutants.

The objective of this study consisted of evaluating the effect of the application of chitosan(Q),1-methylcyclopropene(1-MCP)under two controlled temperatures on some physical,physiological,and chemical parameters contributing to the quality of Persian lime Citrus latifolia *** treatments were evaluated,resulting from the combination of four senescence retardant applications(Q,1-MCP,1-MCP+Q,and without application)on fruits stored at two temperatures(12/20℃.Epidermis color(luminosity,chromaticity,and hue),fruit appearance,respiration,weight loss,total juice content,total soluble solids,and titratable acidity were registered during the *** results indicate that the 1-MCP and Q combination favored fruit postharvest quality conditions such as reducing respiration rate;maintaining fruit good appearance,turgidity,and brighter fruit chromaticity;fruits treated with chitosan and stored at 12℃,favored total soluble *** the other hand,Variables such as weight loss,juice content,acidity,phenols,flavonoids,antioxidant activity,and hue values were favored by a 12℃ storing temperature regardless of the *** general,the use of modified atmospheres,senescence retardants,and refrigeration as postharvest methods,can increase Persian lime shelf life.

This paper presents a study on CO2 atmospheric transformation which was reacted directly with lithium hydroxide solution and metallic lithium. This solution was obtained through the reaction between metallic lithium and deionized water where hydrogen is produced and by exposing the metal at ambient conditions. In the transformation process, atmospheric CO2 gas reacts directly with LiOH solution, in both cases, the CO2 transformation kinetics was different. For this purpose, reactions between CO2 and LiOH solution were carried out under controlled temperature and the second process only with metallic lithium, which was exposed at room temperature, however, in these two processes lithium carbonate oxide was formed and identified. According to the results, the efficiency in CO2 transformation is a function of temperature value which was variable until completely obtaining the by-product, its XRD characterization indicated the formation only of Li2CO3 in both procedures. Under laboratory conditions lithium compounds selectively reacted with CO2. In the same way, there is an alternative procedure to obtain LiOH and Li2CO3 for different applications in various areas.

BACKGROUND Metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)is a lethal malignancy with dispiriting survival *** is a promising approach to many cancer types,but achieves poor outcomes in advanced PDAC due to its immunosuppressive tumor *** describe a case of metastatic PDAC effectively treated with *** SUMMARY We report the case of a 67-year-old woman with unresectable locally advanced PDAC,treated with gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel followed by radiotherapy plus *** nine months,pancreatic tumor progression was observed at the level of the hepatic hilum with the appearance of a new pulmonary nodule suggestive of a second primary,confirmed by left lung *** immunotherapy was then initiated with pembrolizumab,an immune checkpoint inhibitor targeting programmed cell death protein-1 that covers the two tumor *** patient showed a complete metabolic response that was maintained throughout the *** patient continues to be disease-free at 5.6 years since the start of *** These results suggest that the administration of pembrolizumab after chemoradiotherapy has a beneficial effect in patients with metastatic *** our knowledge,this is the first reported case of a patient with metastatic PDAC and metastatic lung cancer showing such a long-lasting complete response after pembrolizumab treatment without curative *** studies are required to determine biomarkers that identify PDAC patients most likely to benefit from this immunotherapy.

Optimal Design of Hybrid Microgrid in Isolated Communities of Ecuador

In rural territories, the communities use energy sources based on fossil fuels to supply themselves with electricity, which may address two main problems: greenhouse gas emissions and high fuel prices. Hence, there is an opportunity to include renewable resources in the energy mix. This paper develops an optimization model to determine the optimal sizing, the total annual investment cost in renewable generation, and other operating costs of the components of a hybrid microgrid. By running a k-means clustering algorithm on a meteorological dataset of the community under study, the hourly representative values become input parameters in the proposed optimization model. The method for the optimal design of hybrid microgrid is analyzed in six operating scenarios considering:(1) 24-hour continuous power supply;(2) load shedding percentage;(3) diesel power generator(genset) curtailment;(4) the worst meteorological conditions;(5) the use of renewable energy sources including battery energy storage systems(BESSs);and(6) the use of genset. A mathematical programming language(AMPL) tool is used to find solutions of the proposed optimization model. Results show that the total costs of microgrid in the scenarios that cover 100% of the load demand(without considering the scenario with 100% renewables) increase by over 16% compared with the scenario with genset operation limitation. For the designs with power supply restrictions, the total cost of microgrid in the scenario with load shedding is reduced by over 27% compared with that without load shedding.
