High-resolution patterns of palaeoenvironmental changes during the Little Ice Age and the Medieval Climate Anomaly in the northwestern Iberian Peninsula

to identify plant macrofossils,estimate peat humification and calculate hydroclimatic indices based on current bog species,with the overall aim of determining the climate conditions associated with evolution of the bog during the Medieval Climate Anomaly and the Little Ice *** proxies,together with historical and climate data,proved to be good indicators of the changes in bog surface ***:of the core led to identification of 9 different periods:two corresponding to the so-called Medieval Climate Anomaly(930 to 1345 Ad,1075–665 calibrated years before present[*** BP]);four corresponding to the Little Ice Age(1345 to 1905 Ad;665–105 cal yr BP);and three corresponding to the last century(1905 to 2000 Ad).The findings revealed a generally dry climate that lasted until the 14th century,followed by a transition to a long period with a more humid,but characteristically very variable climate,which ended at the beginning of the 20th century and was followed by a rapid transition to more humid conditions and finally,a change to drier *** Medieval Climate Anomaly was indicated by the abundance of dry-adapted mosses(Leucobryum glaucum,Hypnum cupressiforme)and characterized by warm dry conditions and high levels of peat humification,with alternating wet *** LIA period was dated by a large abundance of Sphagnum species(an indicator of wetness)and a gradual increase in the humification ***,four different climate phases were differentiated in this ***-resolution reconstruction of the evolution of the CVM bog and the multiproxy approach have together enabled a more detailed identification of climatic variations in this area,which are generally consistent with the global models,as well as better definition of the elusive climatic oscillations in the last millennium and confirmation of the importance of local modulation of global *** study provides new information and a detailed chronology of climatic events that will hel

The study area is located between the cities of Comitan (16°10'43"N and 92°04'20''W) a city with 150,000 inhabitants and La Esperanza (16°9'15''N and 91°52'5''W) a town with 3000 inhabitants. Both weather stations are 30 km from each other in the Chiapas State, México. 54 years of daily records of the series of maximum (tmax) and minimum temperatures (tmin) of the weather station 07205 Comitan that is on top of a house and 30 years of daily records of the weather station 07374 La Esperanza were analyzed. The objective is to analyze the evidence of climate change in the Comitan valley. 2.07% and 19.04% of missing data were filled, respectively, with the WS method. In order to verify homogeneity three methods were used: Standard Normal Homogeneity Test (SNHT), the Von Neumann method and the Buishand method. The heterogeneous series were homogenized using climatol. The trends of tmax and tmin for both weather stations were analyzed by simple linear regression, Sperman’s rho and Mann-Kendall tests. The Mann-Kendal test method confirmed the warming trend at the Comitan station for both variables with ZMK statistic values equal to 1.57 (statistically not significant) and 4.64 (statistically significant). However, for the Esperanza station, it determined a cooling trend for tmin and a slight non-significant warming for tmax with a ZMK statistic of -2.27 (statistically significant) and 1.16 (statistically not significant), for a significance level α = 0.05.

Among all-solid-state batteries, rechargeable Al-ion batteries have attracted most attention because they involve threeelectron-redox reactions with high theoretic specific capacity. However, the solid Al-ion conductor electrolytes are less studied. Here, the microscopic path of Al3+-ion conduction of NASICON-type(Al0.2Zr0.8)20/19Nb(PO4)3oxide is identified by temperature-dependent neutron powder diffraction and aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy experiments.(Al0.2Zr0.8)20/19Nb(PO4)3shows a rhombohedral structure consisting of a framework of(Zr,Nb)O6octahedra sharing corners with(PO4) tetrahedra; the Al occupy trigonal antiprisms exhibiting extremely large displacement factors. This suggests a strong displacement of Al ions along the c axis of the unit cell as they diffuse across the structure by a vacancy mechanism. Negative thermal expansion behavior is also identified along a and b axes, due to folding of the framework as temperature increases.

Tomato is one the most important vegetables worldwide and mineral nutrition in tomato crops is considered as the second most important factor in crop management after water availability. Mathematical modeling techniques allow us to design strategies for nutrition management. In order to generate the necessary information to validate and calibrate a dynamic growth model, two tomato crop cycles were developed. Several mineral analyses were performed during crop development to determine the behavior of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S in different organs of the plant. Regression models were generated to mimic the behavior of minerals in tomato plants and they were included in the model in order to simulate their dynamic behavior. The results of this experiments showed that the growth model adequately simulates leaf and fruit weight (EF > 0.95 and Index > 0.95). As for harvested fruits and harvested leaves, the simulation was less efficient (EF d Index d S as both, the EF and the Index, had higher values than 0.95. In the case of Ca and Mg, simulations showed indices below 0.90. These models can be used for planning crop management and to design more appropriate fertilization strategies.

This study was designed to examine relationships between climate and vegetation of the Pacific rim of North America, from the Mediterranean deserts of California to Alaska’s boreal taiga. Relations were inferred from temperature and rainfall data recorded at 457 weather stations and by sampling the vegetation around these stations. Climate data were used to construct climatograms, calculate forty one variables and detect main latitudinal and longitudinal gradients. In order to identify the best functions able to relate our variables, polynomial and non-polynomial regressions were performed. The k-means algorithm was the clustering method used to validate the variables that could best support our bioclimatic classification. The variable that best fitted our classification was finally used to prepare a discriminatory key for bioclimates. Across this extensive area three macrobioclimates were identified, Mediterranean, Temperate and Bo- real, within which we were able to distinguish nine bioclimates. Finally, we relate the different types of potential natural vegetation to each of these bioclimates and describe their floristic composition and physiognomy.

Piwi-interacting RNAs(piRNAs of 26-32 nt in length)regulate gene expression,epigenetics,and transcriptional and post-transcriptional processes.1 In humans,piRNAs are expressed in germline and somatic tissues,and generally have a uracil at the 5'-end(position+1),an adenine at the+10 position,and are 2'-0 methylated at the 3'-end.2 Onice piRNAs form the RNA-induced silencing complex(RISC)with PIWl proteins,they serve as guides to find their complementary sequences of the target mRNA,thus initiating their *** Wuhan patient's genome is approximately 265 nucleotides(nts)in its 3'-UTR;piRNAs-like sequences have been reported in this region.3 Our objective was to search,through bioinformatics,for mRNA sequences that were homologous to the reverse complementary of the previously reported piRNA-like sequences from the 3'-UTR of SARS-Cov-2,3 and identify the possible interaction between them.

Corriente River is part of the middle Parana basin and it is an inland river of the Corrientes Province of Argentine. This paper studies variation in time of some physicochemical parameters (conductivity, alkalinity, hardness, sulfates and chlorides) measured between 1998 and 2014. The correlations of the data correspond to three fixed stations monitoring. The analysis of results takes into account the influence of the seasonal rainfall patterns regimes as determinants in the natural composition of the water resources studied. Moreover composition of the river has been registered as a valid reference to predict probable changes by human activity.
