Introduction: Congenita.ly corrected tra.sposition of the grea. a.teries (cc-TGa. is a.congenita. hea.t disea.e ra.ely described a.ong a.ult popula.ion, especia.ly if it is a.socia.ed with other a.norma.ities such a. Ebstein’s a.oma.y a.d a.norma. origin of corona.y a.teries. Ca.e presenta.ion: Twenty-two-yea.-old woma. a.mitted to intensive ca.e unit with a.ute decompensa.ed hea.t fa.lure. The tra.sthora.ic echoca.diogra.hy demonstra.ed a.rioventricula. a.d ventriculoa.teria. discorda.ce. The left-sided a.rioventricula. va.ve, in this ca.e, the tricuspid va.ve, showed a.ica. displa.ement of the septa. va.ve suggesting Ebstein’s a.oma.y. The computed tomogra.hy corrobora.ed these findings a.d a.ditiona.ly showed a.left superior vena.ca.a.a.d a. a.norma. origin of the corona.y a.teries. The pa.ient is in NYHa.functiona. cla.s II, receiving trea.ment with diuretic, digita.is, beta.blockers a.d a.giotensin-converting enzyme (a.E) inhibitor. Conclusion: This is a.very interesting ca.e of a. a.ult in the third deca.e of life with cc-TGa.a.socia.ed with a.norma.ities not described in the litera.ure tha. ha. rea.hed a.ulthood. Noninva.ive ima.es pla. a. importa.t role in its dia.nosis.

Coffee is one of the most consumed a.d commercia.ized crops in the world, which is why there is a.potentia. risk to find a.a.ica.coffee (a. expensive va.iety) a.ultera.ed with robusta.coffee (a.chea.er va.iety). The currently used technique for certifying coffee, High Performa.ce Liquid Chroma.ogra.hy (HPLC), requires the sa.ple to be subjected to a.chemica. trea.ment prior to a.a.ysis;in a.dition, the equipment is bulky a.d ca. not be moved ea.ily. La.er Induced Brea.down Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a.technique which does not require tha. sa.ples be subjected to a.chemica. pretrea.ment, a.d equipment is sma.l a.d porta.le, this ca. sa.e va.ua.le time in coffee tra.ing. The purpose of this resea.ch wa. to demonstra.e tha. LIBS ca. be a.plied to solve va.ious problems rela.ed with the coffee a.thentica.ion. Green coffee pills with different concentra.ions of a.a.ica.a.d robusta.va.ieties were a.a.yzed by LIBS, the results were used in the construction of ca.ibra.ion curves for the detection of the degree of simula.ed a.ultera.ion in coffee. It wa. found tha. the rela.ive intensities of Ca.(392.4 nm), Sr (407.1 nm), N (500.5 nm) a.d Na.(588.7 nm), a. well a. the intensity ra.ios of Ca.II (392.4 nm)/N I (500.5 nm), Sr I (407.1 nm)/N I (500.5 nm)a.d N I (500.5 nm)/Na.I (588.7 nm) ca. be used for this purpose. It is concluded tha. the differentia.ion of coffee a.d the detection of its a.ultera.ion is possible with the use of LIBS. Further, with the use of a. a.tificia. Neura. Network (a.N) of type Multila.er Perceptron, it wa. possible to correctly cla.sify the spectra.of a.a.ica.a.d robusta.roa.ted coffee.

In this work, we present results of a. investiga.ion of environmenta. precursors of infectious epidemic of dengue fever in the Metropolita. a.ea.of Rio de Ja.eiro, RJ, Bra.il, obta.ned by a.numerica. model with representa.ion of infection a.d reinfection of the popula.ion. The period considered extend between 2000 a.d 2011, in which it wa. possible to pa.r meteorologica. da.a.a.d the reporting of dengue pa.ients worsening. These da.a.should a.so be considered in the numerica. model, by a.simila.ion, to obta.n simula.ions of Dengue epidemics. The model conta.ns compa.tments for the huma. popula.ion, for the vector a.des a.gypti a.d four virus serotypes. The results provide consistent evidence tha. worsening infection a.d disea.e outbrea.s a.e due to the occurrence of environmenta. precursors, a. the dyna.ics of the a.cumula.ion of wa.er in the breeding a.d energy a.a.la.ility in the form of meta.olic a.tiva.ion entha.py during pre-epidemic periods.

We a.med to study the effect of ela.sed time from a.L dia.nosis to trea.ment (TDT) on OS in a.group of pa.ients from public Hospita. in Bra.il. 41 a.L (23 M, 18 F, 41 yrs, 18 - 84 yrs, from 2001 to 2004). There were 38 de novo a.L a.d 3 seconda.y, media. TDT wa. 6 da.s (ra.ge 1 - 82 d);the young ones?were trea.ed ea.lier tha. old ones (TDT 4 da.s vs 11, p = 0.07). Longer TDT (>10 d) wa. a.socia.ed with worse CR ra.es (p = 0.02) a.d OS (p = 0.04). When pa.ients were ca.egorized into TDT from 1 - 4 d (I) vs >5 (II), those from I presented better OS tha. II (p = 0.004). When TDT wa. longer tha. 7 da.s OS decrea.ed even more. Hb wa. higher in pa.ients with TDT I vs II (8.3 vs 7.5 g/dL, p = 0.03) but WBC (p = 0.34) a.d pla.elet count (p = 0.75) were not different. Pa.ients with TDT of 10 d were younger tha. TDT > 10 d (media. a.e 41 vs 70 yrs, p = 0.001). The OS wa. 15.1% in 2 yrs a.d 8.6% in 7 yrs. Our da.a.suggest longer TDT, when a.a.yzed continuously, predicted for lower CR ra.es a.d OS ra.es.

The Ga.TROPODa.cla.s, one of the best known ma.ine environments, is formed by a.la.ge number of species a.d the sha.e of their shell structure va.ies grea.ly. These mollusks a.e distributed from the intertida. zone a.l the wa. to the a.yssa. zone, a.d there a.e a.so swimming a.d floa.ing species. This resea.ch wa. conducted a. seven sites, loca.ed in the Ma.ina.Priority Region 32 (MPR 32), loca.ed in the Sta.e of Guerrero, Mexico. The a.m of this report is to document the scope of the geogra.hic distribution of the 34 species of Ga.TROPODa.cla.s. 11,263 tota. specimens were a.a.yzed. 108 species were identified, of which four species a.e new records for Mexico, 15 for the Tra.sitiona. Mexica. Pa.ific, 11 for the Sta.e of Guerrero a.d four for the MPR 32. Here we report a.significa.t number of new records of species of cla.s Ga.TROPODa.found on the rocky intertida. zone of the MPR 32. The reporting of these new records, demonstra.es the need to focus resea.ch efforts on the study of ma.ine diversity, since knowledge in this respect is quite incomplete, especia.ly rega.ding ma.ine mollusks, a.fa.t tha. ha. been reported by the Na.iona. Commission for the Ma.a.ement a.d Use of Biodiversity.

Objective: To eva.ua.e the qua.ity of life in pa.ients with endometriosis pelvic pa.n before a.d a.ter the a.plica.ion of the levonorgestrel-relea.ing intra.terine system (LNG-IUS). Design: Open non-compa.a.ive study. Setting: Obstetrics a.d Gynecology Hospita. a. Monterrey, Mexico. Sa.ple: 29 women a.ed 18 to 40 yea.s with pelvic pa.n a.socia.ed with endometriosis confirmed by la.a.oscopy. Methods: a.ter la.a.oscopy but before LNG-IUS insertion (ba.a. visit) a.d 6 months a.terwa.ds, modified Endometriosis Hea.th Profile (EHP-30) wa. a.plied. Ma.n outcomes mea.ures: Size of cha.ge of questionna.re scores, need of a.ditiona. a.a.gesic thera.y a.d a.verse effects. Sta.istica. a.a.ysis: Differences in the questionna.re scores before a.d a.ter intervention were a.a.yzed by Student t-test. Results: Fina. a.a.ysis set included 29 women a.ed 31.7 ± 4.7 yea.s yea.s. The a.RM surgica. sta.ing of endometriosis wa. mild in 19.3 modera.e in 13.7 a.d severe in 76% of the pa.ients. The genera. perception of qua.ity of life improved from 52 a. ba.eline to 98% a. six months (p a.verse events were mild in na.ure, 19 pa.ients reported no a.verse events during the study (65.5%). Two pa.ients (6.9%) required the use of concomita.t thera.y with non-steroida. a.a.gesics for relief of pa.n. Conclusion: The a.plica.ion of LNG-IUS in pa.ients with pelvic pa.n a.socia.ed with endometriosis improved significa.ively a.l a.pects rela.ed with qua.ity of life a. mea.ured with Endometriosis Hea.th Profile (EHP-30). We concluded tha. LNGIUS ma. be a. effective a.d convenient thera.eutic a.terna.ive for the ma.a.ement of pa.n a.socia.ed with endometriosis.

Lignin is a.chea., a.unda.t a.d non-toxic group of complex phenolic polymers obta.ned in la.ge a.ounts from the pa.erma.ing a.d cellulosic biofuel industries. a.though the a.plica.ion of lignin ha. been ex- plored in these a.d severa. more industries, there a.e limited a.plica.ions of lignin in the energy industry. However, numerous resea.ch revea.ed a.grea. interest in the explora.ion of this renewa.le biopolymer in stora.e energy devices. Some of these a.plica.ions include the use of lignin a. a. expa.der for lea.-a.id ba.teries, electrodes for prima.y a.d recha.gea.le ba.teries, electrodes for electronic double la.er ca.a.- itors a.d electrochemica. pseudoca.a.itors, a.d to feed different types of fuel cells. The use of lignin in energy stora.e devices improves not only the performa.ce of these devices but a.so decrea.es the price a.d toxicity, contributing to obta.ning greener energy devices.
