Granular cell tumor （GCT） was described for the first time by Abrikosoff in 1926. It is a relatively rare neoplasm that may occur at many sites, but most commonly in the skin or soft tissues. The occurrence of GCT in the gastrointestinal tract is rare, accounting approximately for 8% of all tumors, among which the most common site is the esophagus, whereas gastric localization is very rare. Gastric GCTs can be solitary or, more frequently, associated with other gastrointestinal localization. Although GCTs are usually clinically and histologically benign, some malignant cases have been reported. Histologically, these tumors consist of polygonal and fusiform cells disposed in compact ＂nests＂ and immunohistochemical staining for S-100 protein supports the proposed derivation from Schwann cells. A correct preoperative diagnosis of this tumor can only be made in 50% of all patients and it is always based on endoscopic biopsy. Laparoscopic or conventional wedge resection represents the treatment of choice. In this study, the authors reported a case of a 49-year-old woman with a solitary granular cell tumor of the stomach with infiltrative pattern, successfully treated with surgical resection. A review of literature is also presented with emphasis on diagnostic criteria concerning the malignant form.

Improving the Hydromechanical Deep-Drawing Process Using Aluminum Tailored Heat Treated Blanks

The present work demonstrates the effectiveness of combining the hydromechanical deep-drawing process with the Tailored Heat Treated Blank（THTB） technique. In the hydromechanical deep-drawing process, the fluid pressure is used for postponing the fracture occurrence in the blank, while the THTB technique allows to create a material property gradient through a suitable artificial aging treatment carried out prior to the forming process. Since the number of process variables is large, in the present work the authors propose an optimization loop for the determination of the parameters controlling the extension of the blank regions to be subjected to the aging treatment and the temperature levels to be set during the heat treatment. The proposed methodology couples a simple finite element model（Abaqus） with a multiobjective optimization platform（mode FRONTIER）. A preliminary experimental campaign was carried out for determining the effect of the aging treatment on the mechanical（through tensile tests） and deformative（through formability tests）behavior of the AC170 PX aluminum alloy. Optimization results prove the effectiveness of the adopted methodology and put in evidence that the adoption of properly aged blanks in the hydromechanical deep drawing allows to increase the limit drawing ratio and to simplify the process since it is conducted at room temperature.

AIM:To compare the mid-term outcomes of laparoscopic calibrated Nissen-Rossetti fundoplication with Dor fundoplication performed after Heller myotomy for oesophageal ***:Fifty-six patients(26 men,30 women;mean age 42.8±14.7 years)presenting for minimally invasive surgery for oesophageal achalasia,were *** patients underwent laparoscopic Heller myotomy followed by a 180°anterior partial fundoplication in 30 cases(group 1)and calibrated NissenRossetti fundoplication in 26(group 2).Intraoperative endoscopy and manometry were used to calibrate the myotomy and fundoplication.A 6-mo follow-up period with symptomatic evaluation and barium swallow was *** and two years after surgery,the patients underwent symptom questionnaires,endoscopy,oesophageal manometry and 24 h oesophago-gastric pH ***:At the 2-year follow-up,no significant difference in the median symptom score was observed between the 2 groups(P=0.66;Mann-WhitneyU-test).The median percentage time with oesophageal pH< 4 was significantly higher in the Dor group compared to the Nissen-Rossetti group(2;range 0.8-10 vs 0.35;range 0-2)(P<0.0001;Mann-WhitneyU-test).CONCLUSION:Laparoscopic Dor and calibrated Nissen-Rossetti fundoplication achieved similar results in the resolution of ***-Rossetti fundoplication seems to be more effective in suppressing oesophageal acid exposure.

The classical diagrams of radio loudness and jet power as a function of mass and accretion rate of the central spacetime singularity in active galactic nuclei are reanalyzed by including the data of the recently discovered powerful relativistic jets in Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 Galaxies. The results are studied in the light of the known theories of relativistic jets, indicating that, although the Blandford-Znajek mechanism is sufficient to explain the power radiated by BL Lac Objects, it falls to completely account for the power from quasars and Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 Galaxies. This favors the scenario outlined by Cavaliere ＆ D＇Elia of a composite jet, with a magnetospheric core plus a hydromagnetic component emerging when the accretion power increases and the disk becomes radiation-pressure dominated. A comparison with Galactic compact objects is also made, finding some striking similarities, indicating that since neutron stars are low-mass jet systems analogous to black holes, Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 Galaxies are low-mass counterparts of blazars.

Neurotrophins are a family of proteins that support neuronal proliferation, survival, and differentiation in the central and peripheral nervous systems, and are regulators of neuronal plasticity. Nerve growth factor is one of the best-described neurotrophins and has advanced to clinical trials for treatment of ocular and brain diseases due to its trophic and regenerative properties. Prior trials over the past few decades have produced conflicting results, which have principally been ascribed to adverse effects of systemic nerve growth factor administration, together with poor penetrance of the blood-brain barrier that impairs drug delivery. Contrastingly, recent studies have revealed that topical ocular and intranasal nerve growth factor administration are safe and effective, suggesting that topical nerve growth factor delivery is a potential alternative to both systemic and invasive intracerebral delivery. The therapeutic effects of local nerve growth factor delivery have been extensively investigated for different ophthalmic diseases, including neurotrophic keratitis, glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, and dry eye disease. Further, promising pharmacologic effects were reported in an optic glioma model, which indicated that topically administered nerve growth factor diffused far beyond where it was topically applied. These findings support the therapeutic potential of delivering topical nerve growth factor preparations intranasally for acquired and degenerative brain disorders. Preliminary clinical findings in both traumatic and non-traumatic acquired brain injuries are encouraging, especially in pediatric patients, and clinical trials are ongoing. The present review will focus on the therapeutic effects of both ocular and intranasal nerve growth factor delivery for diseases of the brain and eye.

During the last decade,perovskite solar technologies underwent an impressive development,with power conversion efficiencies reaching 25.5%for single-junction devices and 29.8%for Silicon-Perovskite tandem *** though research mainly focused on improving the efficiency of perovskite photovoltaics(PV),stability and scalability remain fundamental aspects of a mature photovoltaics *** n-i-p structure perovskite solar cells,using poly-triaryl(amine)(PTAA)as hole transport layer(HTL)allowed to achieve marked improvements in device stability compared with other common hole *** p-i-n structure,poly-triaryl(amine)is also routinely used as dopant-free hole transport layer,but problems in perovskite film growth,and its limited resistance to stress and imperfect batch-to-batch reproducibility,hamper its use for device *** previous computational investigations,in this work,we report the synthesis of two small-molecule organic hole transport layers(BPT-1,2),aiming to solve the above-mentioned issues and allow upscale to the module *** using BPT-1 and methylammonium-free perovskite,*** conversion efficiencies of 17.26%and 15.42%on a small area(0.09 cm^(2))and mini-module size(2.25 cm^(2)),respectively,were obtained,with a better reproducibility than with poly-triaryl(amine).Moreover,BPT-1 was demonstrated to yield more stable devices compared with poly-triaryl(amine)under ISOS-D1,T1,and L1 accelerated life-test protocols,reaching maximum T_(90)values>1000 h on all tests.

To evaluate and compare histomorphometrically the bone response to two xenografts,one bovine and the other porcine,grafted in adjacent extraction sockets in a *** this case report,two adjacent maxillary premolars were extracted,and the sockets were filled with two different xenogeneic bone substitutes(first premolar with bovine bone,and second premolar with porcine bone)to counteract post-extraction volume *** 6 months bone core specimens were harvested during the placement of implants at the regenerated ***,for the bovine xenograft the percentage of newly formed bone(osteoid)was 26.85%,the percentage of the residual graft material was 17.2%and the percentage of connective tissue 48.73%,while for the porcine xenograft,newly formed bone(osteoid)represented 32.19%,residual graft material was 6.57%and non-mineralized connective tissue was 52.99%.Histological results indicated that both biomaterials assessed in this study as grafts for socket preservation technique are biocompatible and *** bone derived demonstrated to be less resorbable than porcine bone *** xenogenic biomaterials did not interfere with the normal bone reparative processes.
