The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of temperature on germination of Pinus tabuliformis Carrière seed, Pinus gerardiana Wall. ex D. Don and Pinus roxburghii Sarg. Seeds of three species were distributed in Petri dishes with 1% agar solution;for the first step it was placed on a 2-way Grant’s thermogradient plate (a bi-directional incubator) for a period of 28 days and during the second step in an incubator type B.O.D. also for 28 days with non-germinated seeds in the first step. This instrument allows an assessment of a wide regime of constant and alternating temperatures, resulting to 144 different combinations of temperature, scheduled to the temperatures 4°C - 40°C. The lighting regime was 12 hours photoperiod for the two stages of the experiment. The best temperature for the germination of P. tabuliformis was 26.2°C (minimum of 7.9°C and maximum 37.0°C) and P. roxburghii was 15.6°C (minimum 10, 4°C and maximum 37.0°C). The seeds are neutral photoblastic. P. gerardiana showed low germination percentage (below 10%). The temperature that provided the highest germination percentage for P. tabuliformis was 26.2°C and 15.6°C for P. roxburghii.

Cardiac Arrest (CA) is a major health problem, due to short and long-term sequel? and to associated mortality. Despite the improvement of out-of-hospital and in-hospital resuscitation manoeuvres, unexpected sudden fatal events occur. The authors reported the features of a series of sudden death (SD) cases where cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed. Files of 1053 medico-legal autopsies, from victims aged ≥18 years-old, were reviewed. Cardiac Arrest leading to Sudden Death were found in 477 cases (45.3%), but only 199 (42%) of these had been submitted to resuscitation manoeuvres. There was an elderly male predominance. Both non-cardiac and cardiac CA/SD causes were present, despite the higher coronary artery disease incidence. Both out-of-hospital and in-hospital events took place. Age, severity of the disease, comorbidities and predominance of out-of-hospital CA were obstacles to successful CPR, leading to SD. Knowing the population characteristics may help to improve Emergency Assistance.

目的:探讨动力灸结合针刺、拔罐治疗腰椎间盘突出症的临床疗效,并与单纯针刺加拔罐疗法进行比较。方法:根据纳入标准,共纳入腰椎间盘突出症患者67例。其中治疗组36例,对照组31例。治疗组患者每次治疗依次接受:针刺治疗30min、动力灸15 min、拔罐10 min。对照组患者接受针刺治疗30min及拔罐10min。每周进行3次(每周一、三、五)治疗,共10次。动力灸、针刺、拔罐均根据证型选用不同穴位进行治疗。通过疼痛评分和腰痛评分评估患者在治疗前后的情况,直腿抬高试验作为观察疗效的辅助方法。通过SPSS 20.0软件分析数据以计算和比较两组疗法的有效率。结果:治疗组在治疗前后的直腿抬高试验结果显示:在治疗前观察值和预期值之间无显著性差异(x2 = 0.51 p= 0.47)(p>0.05);治疗后,94.4%的患者直腿抬高试验呈阴性,经卡方检验,结果具有显著性统计学差异(x2 = 62.23 p=0.00)(p0.05);治疗后,87.1%的患者直腿抬高试验呈阴性,经卡方检验,观察值和期望值之间具有显著性统计学差异(x2 =43.10p=0.00)(p<0.01)。治疗前后,治疗组(Z =-5.31 p= 0.00)和对照组(Z =-4.92 p=0.00)的疼痛评分结果均具有显著性统计学差异(p<0.01)。两组在治疗前后比较的结果,治疗后各组间无统计学差异(Z =-1.27p=0.21)。治疗组的腰痛评分在治疗前后的平均值分别为37.48%±17.02%和11.07%±9.60%。对照组的腰痛评分在治疗前的平均数为42.48%±18.60%,在治疗后的平均数为17.47%±12.62%。结果显示两组在治疗前后均具有显著性差异(p<0.01)。治疗后,结果(t = 2.35 p=0.02)显示治疗组与对照组之间具有显著性统计学差异(p<0.05)。对照组的有效率为87.10%,治疗组为94.44%。比较对照组和治疗组的疗效,卡方检验结果(x2=6.78p=0.03)显示具有显著性统计学差异(p<0.05)。此外,治疗组与对照组之间的有效率也具有显著性统计学差异(p=0.05)。结论:本研究结果肯定了动力灸和针刺、拔罐疗法联合治疗腰椎间盘突出症的临床疗效;结果还证实了针刺结合拔罐疗法对治疗腰椎间盘突出症的疗效。但动力灸结合针刺、拔罐疗法比单纯针刺和拔罐的联合疗法效果更好。因此,动力灸结合针刺、拔罐的联合疗法值得在临床上推广应用。

Carbon, Water, Ecological Footprints, Energy and Nutritional Densities of Omnivore and Vegan Culinary Preparations

This study aimed to evaluate energy and nutritional densities, water, carbon and ecological footprints, cost, of omnivorous and vegan main courses served in a university restaurant in the city of Rio de Janeiro. A cross-sectional, analytical study was conducted with 40 main dish-type preparations, 20 of which are omnivorous and 20 vegans, served at lunch, to assess energy and nutritional densities, carbon, water and ecological footprints and cost of preparations. We propose a healthy and sustainable preparation index (HSPI) to evaluate from the list, the best preparation options considering the nutritional quality combined with the impact that the food causes on the environment. Preparations with the highest HSPI were considered the best options because they have a good relation between the nutritional profile and the environmental impact. Results: Regarding energy (ED), nutritional (ND) densities and water, carbon and ecological footprints, omnivorous preparations presented much higher values when compared to the vegan ones. The omnivorous preparations had the highest average cost (R$ 3.44). Regarding the HSPI, vegan preparations showed better rates than omnivorous preparations. Food services should promote healthy and sustainable choices by offering menus with low energy density preparations, high nutritional density, and low environmental impact, considering local realities and customer needs. Conclusion: This study was able to evaluate the best preparation options, considering the nutritional profile and the food impact on the environment, using health and sustainable indicators. Obtaining indicators of preparations regarding healthiness and sustainability, in practice, translates environmental aspects in menu planning, which contribute to changes in food consumption patterns in food services, in addition to contributing to the reduction of the environmental impact. Heterogeneous Photocatalytic Degradation of Dyes in Water/Alcohol Solution Used by the Brazilian Agate Industry

The agate dyeing industry has been commonly seen as a high-pollution industry. Dyeing wastewater treatment is considered one of the most important categories for water-pollution control, because of its intense colour and the high concentration of organic contaminants. Most dyes used in the process present minimal biodegradability due to aromatic organic compounds in their structure. Using a photocatalytic reactor, experiments were carried out to study the decolorization of a water solution containing 8% ethylic alcohol and 200 mg L−1 of the dye Rhodamine B (RhB), the most difficult colorant to degrade among the used by the agate industry. The best conditions were further applied to treat the same agate water/ethyl alcohol solution containing a mixture of 200 mg L−1 of Rhodamine B (RhB), Crystal Violet (CV), Brilliant Green (BG), and Blood Red (BR). All the experiments were performed in a 2 L reactor equipped with ultraviolet (UV) lamps, at a wavelength of 365 nm, with powdered TiO2 or ZnO as the catalyst. The results indicated that the optimal decolorization conditions were attained with 2.5 g L−1 of the catalyst at pH 10 and an irradiation time of 80 min. The process resulted in complete degradation of CV, BG and 80% - 90% degradation of RhB and BR. The catalyst ZnO presented a performance somewhat better than TiO2. It is possible to conclude that the process of heterogeneous photocatalysis is effective for decolorization of water streams from the agate industry.

The study aimed to look for available evidence in the literature regarding tools and methods used for determining nurse staffing levels. It is an integrative literature review whose data search was performed electronically between September and October 2013. The integrative review consisted of 13 articles that responded to the inclusion criteria proposed in the study. Several tools and methods were identified that determine staffing numbers, however, implementation of the calculated required workforce is not yet effective in the institutions surveyed.
