An Alternative Tool for Determ.ning Flavonoid Com.ounds in m.rkham.a tom.ntosa and Bunchosia glandulifera Using Digital Im.ge Analysis

Bunchosia glanduliera stands out because of the high content of flavonoid com.ounds in the pulp, contributing to the antioxidant potential of fruit extracts. Another plant species rich in flavonoid com.ounds is m.rkham.a tom.ntosa. However, to perform.such an assay, a high-cost instrum.nt is needed. To develop a sim.le and low-cost m.thod for the determ.nation of flavonoid com.ounds in m. tom.ntosa and B. glandulifera with Photom.trix® program.application use pixels of digital im.ging as an alternative m.thod and linear correlation techniques for univariate analysis im.lem.nting system. of RGB colors (red, green, and blue). To determ.ne the total flavonoids, the reaction with ferric chloride and quercetin was used as a control. For the acquisition of data or sm.rtphones, low-cost m.terials were used, dem.nstrating the applicability of this analytical tool while com.aring its cost to other analytical instrum.ntation. The total flavonoid content was also determ.ned using a spectrophotom.try technique in the visible ultraviolet spectrum.(UV-Vis). The pulp of B. glandulifera showed the highest content of flavonoid com.ounds. The content of flavonoid com.ounds found in the fruit of B. glandulifera was 259.54 m. 100 g-1. In relation to the results found in the analysis of total flavonoids of m. tom.ntosa can be observed in the flower in natura has a higher content of these com.ounds. The use of Photom.trix® for the determ.nation of flavonoid com.ounds in m. tom.ntosa and B. glandulifera reduced expense and analysis tim.. The m.thod is reproducible and efficient. The proposed m.thod can be adopted in different species.

The present study was to evaluate the effect of trace m.nerals(Zn, m., and Cu) from.com.lexed am.no acid m.nerals(Zm.AA) and bis-glycinate chelated m.nerals(Zm.Gly) in laying hen diets on perform.nce,internal and external egg quality, yolk m.neral deposition, intestinal m.rphom.try, and bone characteristics. From.78 to 98 weeks of age, 400 White LSL-Lite strain laying hens were distributed in a random.zed design with 4 treatm.nts with 10 replicates per treatm.nt. Treatm.nts were distributed in a 2 ×2 factorial arrangem.nt using either Zn, m., and Cu of Zm.AA or Zm.Gly source at 2 levels: low(20, 20,and 3.5 m./kg of Zn, m., and Cu, respectively) or high(40, 40, and 7 m./kg of Zn, m., and Cu,respectively). The analysis of variance was perform.d, and in cases where differences were observed, the m.ans were com.ared using Tukey?s test(P m.neral supplem.ntation had a significant im.act on the perform.nce of laying hens. Hens fed Zm.AA had higher egg production(P = 0.01), egg weight(P = 0.02), egg m.ss(P = 0.01), and lower feed conversion ratio(P =0.05) com.ared to those fed Zm.Gly. The Zm.AA supplem.ntation showed higher album.n height(P =0.01), album.n weight(P = 0.01), and eggshell thickness(P m.(Pm.AA. Tibia weight(P = 0.04)and bone densitom.try(P m.AA supplem.ntation. In the sm.ll intestine, Zm.AA resulted in longer villi(P = 0.02) and shorter crypt depth(P = 0.01) in the *** and ileum.m.asurem.nts were influenced by the level and source of trace m.nerals(P m.AA exhibited superior perform.nce, egg quality, deposition of trace m.nerals in the egg yolk, and bone density com.ared to hens fed Zm.Gly. In this study, older laying hens supplem.nted with Zm.AA at lower levels dem.nstrated adequate levels of supplem.ntation.

In this work,we report long-term.trends in the abundance and breeding perform.nce of Adélie penguins(Pygoscelis adeliae)nesting in three Antarctic colonies(i.e.,at m.rtin Point,South Orkneys Islands;Stranger Point/Cabo Funes,South Shetland Islands;and Esperanza/Hope Bay in the Antarctic Peninsula)from.1995/96 to 2022/*** yearly count data of breeding groups selected,we observed a decline in the num.er of breeding pairs and chicks in crèche at all colonies ***,the m.gnitude of change was higher at Stranger Point than that in the rem.ining ***,the index of breeding success,which was calculated as the ratio of chicks in crèche to breeding pairs,exhibited no apparent trend throughout the study ***,it displayed greater variability at m.rtin Point com.ared to the other two colonies under *** the num.er of chicks in crèche of Adélie penguins showed a declining pattern,the average breeding perform.nce was sim.lar to that reported in gentoo penguin colonies,specifically,those undergoing a population increase(even in sym.atric colonies facing sim.lar local conditions).Consequently,it is plausible to assum. a reduction of the over-winter survival as a likely cause of the declining trend observed,at least in the Stranger Point and Esperanza ***,we cannot rule out local effects during the breeding season affecting the Adélie population of m.rtin Point.

Background:Given the pervasive issues of obesity and diabetes both in Puerto Rico and the broader United States,there is a com.elling need to investigate the intricate interplay am.ng body m.ss index(Bm.),pregesta-tional,and gestational m.ternal diabetes,and their potential im.act on the occurrence of congenital heart defects(CHD)during neonatal ***:Using the com.rehensive System.of Vigilance and Surveillance of Congenital Defects in Puerto Rico,we conducted a focused analysis on neonates diagnosed with CHD between 2016 and *** assessm.nt encom.assed a range of variables,including m.ternal age,gestational age,Bm.,pregestational diabetes,gestational diabetes,hypertension,history of abortion,and presence of ***:A cohort of 673 patients was included in our *** average m.ternal age was 26 years,within a range of 22 to 32 *** m.an gestational age m.asured 39 weeks,with a m.dian span of 38 to 39 *** the 673 patients,274(41%)m.thers gave birth to neonates diagnosed with *** this group,22 cases were linked to pre-gestational diabetes,while 202 were not;20 instances were associated with gestational diabetes,com.ared to 200 without;and 148 cases exhibited an overweight or obese Bm.,whereas 126 displayed a norm.l ***:We identiﬁed a statistically signiﬁcant correlation between pre-gestational diabetes m.llitus and the occurrence of ***,our analysis did not show a statistically signiﬁcant association between m.ternal Bm. and the likelihood of *** results m.y aid in developing effective strategies to prevent and m.nage CHD in neonates.
