Plants hold biochemical and physiological mechanisms to withstand drought ***,depending on water deficit interval,plant rehydration relies on how it can retain growth or a positive water balance—or rarely *** this study,two species of Hymenaea,one from the Amazon and the other from the Brazilian cerrado,were investigated for their physiological mechanism associated with growth rehydration upon short-term exposure to drought *** findings demonstrate that Hymenaea courbaril tends to invest in nitrogen to the detriment of carbon compounds,-as it is limited by lower net photosynthesis-and adjust root growth to attenuate drought stress *** contrast,Hymenaea stigonocarpa takes advantage of higher water potential and a basal rate of lower net photosynthesis to support aboveground growth under such ***,it is postulated that there are distinct ways of controlling water status and growth between *** and ***,which are determined either by the ability of the species to keep net photosynthesis at low levels of water content or by favoring the accumulation of nitrogen *** mechanisms were effective with regards to water use efficiency and thus it is reasonable to suggest that strategies are not exclusive and may work under adverse conditions,as observed in Amazon and Brazilian cerrado ***.

Arroyo Verde epithermal deposit,in the North Patagonia region of Argentina,is located within the Lower chon Aike volcanism and is developed between 192.6±2.5 Ma(mineralization host rock)and 189.5±2.6 Ma(overlying lava).Marifil volcanic complex is the host rock for these veins,veinlets and *** particular small deposit has developed low to intermediate sulphidation characteristics,with gangue mineral textures associated with several ore *** probe microanalysis determines electrum,silver minerals such as acanthite,and tetrahedrite,related Ag-cu minerals like jalpaite,mckinstryite,stromeyerite,and base metals like chalcopyrite,sphalerite,galena and *** inclusions in quartz of two out of five events indicate that these Low Jurassic veins were formed due to subtle boiling and dilution mechanisms and by low-salinity(3.4 wt.%to 6.7 wt.%Nacl Eq)magmatic-hydrothermal fluid at 225 to 310℃.The fluid inclusion measurements that indicate boiling(Event 3)were plotted,and based on this data,we interpret that the Arroyo Verde deposit has been eroded between 550 and 700 *** particular character has not been previously recorded for other sectors of the eastern north Patagonian region.

In crop plants, various environmental stresses affect the balance of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus(c:N:P), leading to biochemical and physiological alterations and reductions in yield. Silicon(Si) is a beneficial element that alleviates plant stress. Most studies involving silicon have focused on physiological responses, such as improvements in photosynthetic processes, water use efficiency, and antioxidant defense systems. But recent research suggests that stressed plants facing either limited or excessive resources(water, light, nutrients, and toxic elements), strategically employ Si to maintain c:N:P homeostasis, thereby minimizing biomass losses. Understanding the role of Si in mitigating the impact of abiotic stresses on plants by regulating c:N:P homeostasis holds great potential for advancing sustainable agricultural practices in crop production. This review presents recent advances in characterizing the influence of environmental stresses on c:N:P homeostasis, as well as the role of Si in preserving c:N:P equilibrium and attenuating biological damage associated with abiotic stress. It underscores the beneficial effects of Si in sustaining c:N:P homeostasis and increasing yield via improved nutritional efficiency and stress mitigation.

Structural optimization of patient-specific temporomandibular joint replacement implants for additive manufacturing:novel metrics for safety evaluation and biomechanical performance

Total temporomandibular joint(TMJ)replacement is recommended only when there is irreversible damage to the joint and no conservative treatment can provide functional *** stock and custom-made TMJ implants have been made available;however,retrospective and comparative studies were unable to find significant differences between the two types of *** introduction of additive manufacturing(AM)techniques in medical practice allows for a greater freedom of design and a higher degree of device *** combination of AM with structural optimisation may streamline development and provide the key for fabricating biomechanic ally enhanced TMJ *** this study,structural optimis ation techniques were applied to develop and numerically validate a patient-specific TMJ *** biomechanical behaviour of each intermediate TMJ design was assessed under four different nominal and maximum biting tasks using finite element *** addition,a new set of metrics were proposed to compare each design regarding biomechanical performance and implant *** results suggest that 55-82%of the natural/intact strain patterns can be recovered with the finally selected TMJ *** represents an increase of 15%in biomechanical performance for incisor biting,15%for right molar biting,17%for left molar biting and a decrease of 2%for left group biting compared with the initial *** results also suggest that load transfer at the proximal ramus reduces the implant’s impact on the mandible’s strain ***,structural optimisation allows for a volume reduction of up to 44%with a minimum loss of implant safety and biomechanical performance.

Spices are defined as any aromatic condiment of plant origin used to alter the flavor and aroma of foods. Besides flavor and aroma, many spices have antioxidant activity, mainly related to the presence in cloves of phenolic compounds, such as flavonoids, terpenoids and eugenol. In turn, the most common uses of gum arabic are in the form of powder for addition to soft drink syrups, cuisine and baked goods, specifically to stabilize the texture of products, increase the viscosity of liquids and promote the leavening of baked products (e.g., cakes). Both eugenol, extracted from cloves, and gum arabic, extracted from the hardened sap of two species of the Acacia tree, are dietary constituents routinely consumed virtually throughout the world. Both of them are also widely used medicinally to inhibit oxidative stress and genotoxicity. The prevention arm of the study included groups: Ia, IIa, IIIa, Iva, V, VI, VII, VIII. Once a week for 20 weeks, the controls received saline s.c. while the experimental groups received DMH at 20 mg/kg s.c. During the same period and for an additional 9 weeks, the animals received either water, 10% GA, EUG, or 10% GA + EUG by gavage. The treatment arm of the study included groups Ib, IIb, IIIb e IVb, IX, X, XI, XII). Once a week for 20 weeks, the controls received saline s.c. while the experimental groups received DMH at 20 mg/kg s.c. During the subsequent 9 weeks, the animals received either water, 10% GA, EUG or 10% GA + EUG by gavage. The novelty of this study is the investigation of their use alone and together for the prevention and treatment of experimental colorectal carcinogenesis induced by dimethylhydrazine. Our results show that the combined use of 10% gum arabic and eugenol was effective, with antioxidant action in the colon, as well as reducing oxidative stress in all colon segments and preventing and treating genotoxicity in all colon segments. The present study was to evaluate the effect of trace minerals(Zn,Mn,and cu)from complexed amino acid minerals(ZMcAA)and bis-glycinate chelated minerals(ZMcGly)in laying hen diets on performance,internal and external egg quality,yolk mineral deposition,intestinal morphometry,and bone *** 78 to 98 weeks of age,400 White LSL-Lite strain laying hens were distributed in a randomized design with 4 treatments with 10 replicates per *** were distributed in a 2×2 factorial arrangement using either Zn,Mn,and cu of ZMcAA or ZMcGly source at 2 levels:low(20,20,and 3.5 mg/kg of Zn,Mn,and cu,respectively)or high(40,40,and 7 mg/kg of Zn,Mn,and cu,respectively).The analysis of variance was performed,and in cases where differences were observed,the means were compared using Tukey?s test(Pce and level of trace mineral supplementation had a significant impact on the performance of laying *** fed ZMcAA had higher egg production(P=0.01),egg weight(P=0.02),egg mass(P=0.01),and lower feed conversion ratio(P=0.05)compared to those fed *** ZMcAA supplementation showed higher albumen height(P=0.01),albumen weight(P=0.01),and eggshell thickness(Pcu(Pceived *** weight(P=0.04)and bone densitometry(PcAA *** the small intestine,ZMcAA resulted in longer villi(P=0.02)and shorter crypt depth(P=0.01)in the *** and ileum measurements were influenced by the level and source of trace minerals(PcAA exhibited superior performance,egg quality,deposition of trace minerals in the egg yolk,and bone density compared to hens fed *** this study,older laying hens supplemented with ZMcAA at lower levels demonstrated adequate levels of supplementation.
