Tillage and no-tillage effects on physical and chemical properties of an Argiaquoll soil under long-term crop rotation in Buenos aires, Argentina

No-tillage systems are able to reduce the negative effects of agricultural intensification on soil properties. However, knowledge of long-term impacts of no-tillage systems on soil properties is insufficient. It is essential to know which soil quality indicators are the most sensitive to management practices in each particular environment. Therefore, the objective of this work is to determine which soil quality prop-erties are more sensitive to the impact of two tillage systems in a vertic Argiaquoll soil from Buenos aires, Argentina. This work started in 2006 and included crop rotation and tillage systems, including both tillage and no-tillage. Physical and chemical properties were measured in three consecutive years (2013-2015) at two depths (0-10 cm and 10-20 cm). The tillage system modified soil physical and chemical properties, mainly in the surface layer. No-tillage showed significantly higher bulk density (2013-2015 p der tillage. Soil saturation (or total porosity) was significantly greater under tillage. The tillage system did not affect hydraulic conductivity, total nitrogen and extractable phosphorus from the surface, nor physical and chemical properties from the second depth. No-tillage alleviates, but is not enough to mitigate, the loss of soil organic carbon and aggregate stability caused by continuous cropping in this vertic Argiaquall. Bulk density, organic carbon, aggregates stability and saturation are indicators for future studies performed in environments with similar soil and climate conditions.

Climate change requires joint actions between government and local *** the perception of people and communities is critical for designing climate change adaptation *** most affected by climate change are populations in coastal regions that face extreme weather events and sea-level *** this article,geospatial perception of climate change is identified,and the research parameters are *** addition to investigating the correlations of hotspots on the topic of climate change perception with a focus on coastal communities,Natural Language Processing(NLP)was used to examine the research interactions.A total of 27,138 articles sources from Google Scholar and Scopus were analyzed.A systematic method was used for data processing combining bibliometric analysis and machine *** trends were analyzed in English,Spanish and *** in English(87%)were selected for network and data mining *** of the research was conducted in the USA,followed by India and *** main research methods were identified through correlation *** many cases,social studies of perception are related to climatic methods and vegetation analysis supported by *** analysis of keywords identified ten research topics:adaptation,risk,community,local,impact,livelihood,farmer,household,strategy,and variability.“Adaptation”is in the core of the correlation network of all *** interdisciplinary analysis between social and environmental factors,suggest improvements are needed for research in this field.A single method cannot address understanding of a phenomenon as complicated as the *** study provides valuable information for future research by clarifying the current context of perception work carried out in the coastal regions;and identifying the tools best suited for carrying out this type of research.

Bioactive Compounds and Insecticidal Activity of Hysterionica pinifolia, a Native South American Plant

Phytochemical investigation of the purified fractions of the active dichloromethane extract of Hysterionica pinifolia (Poir.) Baker led to the identification of five compounds. New acetylenic alcohol (E)-undec-3-en-5,7-diyne-1-ol (1) and three other compounds (3), (4), and (5) were reported for the first time in this species. Furthermore, forty-six components from the volatile fraction of H. pinifolia were identified. These compounds were elucidated using 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy as well as MS-ESI and GC-FID-MS experiments. The dichloromethane extract, its fractions, and the methanolic extract were tested for insecticidal activity against Tribolium castaneum under laboratory conditions. The dichloromethane extract and the fraction F2 were found to be active, showing high larval mortality. The dichloromethane extract was also active against T. castaneum adults. The results have shown that H. pinifolia could be considered, in a near future, as a potential source for the development of a botanical insecticide for pest control.

Effect of Unilateral Low-Frequency Stimulation of Hippocampus on Rapid Kindling—Induced Seizure development in Rats

Since the last decade deep brain stimulation has been proposed as an alternative treatment for patients who do not become seizure-free with the current pharmacological treatments and cannot undergo resective surgical procedure. However, the optimal stimulation parameters remain undetermined and active research in humans and animals is necessary. The present study was designed to investigate the effect of unilateral Low Frequency Stimulation (LFS) of hippocampus on seizure development by using the hippocampal rapid kindling method (hRK) in rats. We used male Wistar rats implanted with electrodes in the ventral hippocampus. All rats underwent hRK (biphasic square wave pulses, 20 Hz for 10 seconds) during three consecutive days (twelve stimulations per day). The control group (hRK;n = 6) received only RK stimulus, while the treated group (LFS-hRK;n = 8) received also LFS (biphasic square wave pulses, 1 Hz for 30 seconds) immediately before the RK stimulus, during three consecutive days. At the end of behavioral testing on day 3, 62% (P ded to achieve generalized seizures (stage IV-V of Racine scale) was significantly higher (P decrease the incidence of hippocampus-kindled seizures and delay the progression and secondary generalization of focal seizures.

Evaluation of Tomato Lines derived from Landraces of ＂Tomate Platense＂ and a Commercial Hybrid in La Plata, Argentina

In the city of La Plata （Argentina） and the surroundings, there are tomato landraces, widely known as ＂tomate platense＂ and particularly prized because of their flavor. The objective was to evaluate seven promissory lines of ＂tomate platense＂（TL） derived from local varieties and a commercial hybrid （CH） considering yield, fruit characters and their possible associations. Nine plants per treatment were arranged in a randomized complete block design （r = 4）. The following parameters were determined： diameter （cm）, height （cm）, diameter/height （D/H） ratio, weight per fruit （g）, number of locules, the average number of fruits per plant, the average weight of fruits per plant （kg/ptant）, the yield （ton/ha） and the survival percentage. ANOVA, Tukey＇s test and Pearson correlation coefficient were applied. The TL showed greater （P ≤ 0.01） diameter, D/H ratio and number of locules than CH. In all materials, both diameter and height were associated （P ≤ 0.05） with the weight per fruit. Six of TL had greater （P ≤ 0.01） weight per fruit than HC. Respect to number of fruits per plant, weight of fruits per plant and yield, there were no significant differences among the materials. The survival for CH was lower （P ≤0.05） than that for TL. Although fruits with a smaller size and less flattened have been selected, the lines show enough similarity in these characters that identified their common origin. With the fruits smaller and more uniform, and having no joined fruits, these lines may be of interest to be cultivated under low-input system conditions and practical for low-income producers.

目的分析应用合成补片行疝修补后出现需要去除补片的手术部位感染并发症病人的临床及人口统计学特点,补片植入手术的细节以及感染发生后的治疗和结局。方法从病人资料表中获得病人的感染相关因素(人口统计学参数、疝修补术特点和使用的网片)。收集32例连续病例的标本(补片和组织),行细菌培养和显微镜检查。前瞻性评估补片取出后的结局。结果 22例接受了切口疝修补术,10例接受了腹股沟疝修补术,大部分病人手术时间较长,28例出现过早期伤口并发症(浆液肿或血肿)。在"补片植入-取出"间期,部分病人进行了保守治疗,例如局麻下引流或者窦道切除。22例的网片被完全取出(其中9例是补片部分取出后),其余10例部分取出补片治疗有效。大部分补片(24例)是多纤丝聚丙烯网片,补片周围组织的显微镜观察发现有白细胞浸润、巨细胞反应、胶原纤维无序排列以及脓肿形成。32例共进行了51例次手术治疗,补片取出后,有6例复发和2例肠瘘。平均随访时间为40(30～97)个月。结论大多数需要去除补片的感染病例前次疝修补术时间较长,并且有未经治疗的术后早期伤口并发症。补片部分取出通常不会成功,而且会带来并发症。取出全部补片的外科探查手术应该在全麻下进行。
