The Durkan Complex is a tectonic element of the Makran Accretionary Prism(Se Iran)that includes fragments of Late Cretaceous *** this paper,the results of map-to micro-scale structural studies of the western Durkan Complex are presented with the aim to describe its structural and tectonometamorphic *** Durkan Complex consists of several tectonic units bordered by mainly NNW-striking *** main deformation phases(D_(1),D_(2),and D_(3))are distinguished and likely occurred from the Late Cretaceous to the Miocene–Pliocene.D_(1) is characterized by sub-isoclinal to close and W-verging folds associated with an axial plane foliation and shear zone along the fold *** phase records the accretion of fragments of the seamount within the Makran at blueschist facies metamorphic conditions(160–300℃ and 0.6–1.2 GPa).D_(2) is characterized by open to close folds with subhorizontal axial plane that likely developed during the exhumation of previously accreted seamount *** upper Paleocene–eocene siliciclastic succession unconformably sealed the D_(1) and D_(2) structures and is,in turn,deformed by W-verging thrust faults typical of D_(3).The latter likely testifies for a Miocene–Pliocene tectonic reworking of the accreted seamount fragments with the activation of out of sequence *** results shed light on the mechanism of accretion of seamount materials in the accretionary prisms,suggesting that seamount slope successions favour the localization and propagation of the basal dé*** study further confirms that the physiography of the subducting plates plays a significant role in the tectonic evolution of the subduction complexes.

Background:Tenodesis of the long head of the biceps(LHB)is commonly undertaken during arthroscopic rotator cuff *** assessed the clinical and structural outcomes after high arthroscopic tenodesis(HAT)or mini-open subpectoral tenodesis(ST).We hypothesized that the clinical and structural results after HAT and ST are ***:We included 40 patients with rotator cuff tear and LHB *** patients(7 women and 13 men;mean age:57.9 years;range:56-63 years)were treated using HAT,and 20 patients(8 women and 12 men;mean age:58.5 years;range:55-64 years)were treated using *** evaluation was performed preoperatively and at 6 weeks,6 months,and 1 year after surgery,using the Constant Murley Score and Simple Shoulder Test scores;the LHB was evaluated using the LHB score.A Visual Analogue Scale was administered to all patients preoperatively and 2 days after ***:The postoperative total and pain subscale’s Constant scores were significantly higher in the ST ***,2 LHB score values were significantly different between the *** postoperative LHB total score in the ST and HAT groups averaged 86.9±4.1(mean±SD)points and 73.3±6.4 points,*** Pain/Cramps subscale in the ST and HAT groups averaged 47.1±5.9 and 33.2±4.6 points,*** 2 groups showed no difference in Visual Analogue Scale values(5.5 in the HAT group;5.8 in the ST group)*** patient in the HAT group reported a secondary onset of Popeye ***:Both high arthroscopic and mini-open ST of the LHB tendon produced reliably good functional results,but the ST group was associated with better postoperative clinical outcomes.

Surveying existing rockfall flexible barriers:a combined method for gathering data,managing information and prioritizing maintenance

Rockfall risk is often mitigated and managed by employing defensive structures to catch falling blocks(i.e.,passive works).Due to the widely spread nature of rockfall,the presence of such defensive structures is a common sight,especially in mountain *** most common passive defensive structures are rockfall flexible barriers,due to their significant flexibility and *** protective performance of said structures,though,can be severely reduced by prolonged exposure to weathering agents,vegetation growth,and rockfall impacts:these issues must be addressed by performing *** a view to optimizing the maintenance procedure,the need arises for a tool capable of providing useful information regarding the condition of existing rockfall barriers,in the simplest yet most complete and comprehensive way *** present work provides such a tool,alongside the required instruments for it to function ***,it consists of a survey spreadsheet to be used to collect raw data based on visual inspection of the barriers,coupled with the methodology to score their conditions and to produce a database with which to manage and plan their *** application to a suitable case study in the Central Italian Alps,featuring a number of barriers in different conditions,is then presented,and its results are discussed.

＂Principal Components＂ for the Calculation of the Best estimate Liability of Future Discretionary Benefits under Solvency II

The core of the presentation that I propose treats about the application of principal component analysis for the estimation of the future earnings of the Segregated Funds. The Segregated Funds are the pools of assets which have been using in the Italian Insurance Market since mid 80＇s for managing the ＂with profit＂ business, also known as business with ＂discretionary participation feature＂ according to IFRS4 since the income attributable to the policyholders is composed by the net realised gains less a fee and by a minimum guarantee, if any. The discretion of the Management of the entity lays on the decision on whether and when to realise both the financial gains and the financial losses of the underlying investments. This strategy is tied by the need to manage an appropriate ALM, from the rules included in the local legislation as well as by the policy about the solvency margin （for example a minimum solvency ratio to fulfil that is conditional upon the value of income attributed that year）. The fee can not be changed, i.e., is not discretionary, the minimum granted could be fixed on annual basis-sometimes paid on cash recurrently-or could be promised only at expiration or sometimes promised at expiration or in advance only for death and disability. In case of years so adverse that the entity is not able to avoid earnings too low, sometimes the entity delivers an additional bonus, in order to compensate their policyholders, which is based above a full discretion. Principal components are used in finance as well as in other fields such as genetic. You can see some of these applications in two of the references advised below. The purposes of the technique of principal components are （1） to increase objectivity of results and their verifiability by third parties such as auditors, （2） make speeder the time spent for the analytical calculations （i.e., runs of the actuarial models） and （3） to render the relationship between the asset composition and the their earnings ef

Alginate controls heartburn in patients with erosive and nonerosive reflux disease

Addressing the Role of microRNAs in Reprogramming Leaf Growth during Drought Stress in Brachypodium distachyon

Plant responses to drought are regulated by complex genetic and epigenetic networks leading to rapid reprogramming of plant growth, miRNAs have been widely indicated as key players in the regulation of growth and development. The role of miRNAs in drought response was investigated in young leaves of Brachypodium dis- tachyon, a drought-tolerant monocot model species. Adopting an in vivo drought assay, shown to cause a dramatic reduction in leaf size, mostly due to reduced cell expansion, small RNA libraries were produced from proliferating and expanding leaf cells. Next-generation sequencing data were analyzed using an in-house bioinformatics pipeline allowing the identification of 66 annotated miRNA genes and 122 new high confidence predictions greatly expand- ing the number of known Brachypodium miRNAs. In addition, we identified four TAS3 loci and a large number of siRNA-producing loci that show characteristics suggesting that they may represent young miRNA genes. Most miR- NAs showed a high expression level, consistent with their involvement in early leaf development and cell identity. Proliferating and expanding leaf cells respond differently to drought treatment and differential expression analyses suggest novel evidence for an miRNA regulatory network controlling cell division in both normal and stressed condi-tions and demonstrate that drought trigger a genetic reprogramming of leaf growth in which miRNAs are deeply involved.
