Chronic s.bdural hematoma repres.nts.25% of traumatic s.bdural collections.common in elderly s.bjects.with a clear male predominance. It occurs.over the age of 50 in more than 90% of cas.s.and 50% of patients.have no his.ory of head trauma even if the latter remains.the main ris. factor with others.s.ch as.coagulopathy, anticoagulant treatment, chronic alcoholic pois.ning. Its.dis.overy is.rarely fortuitous.and has.an important clinical polymorphis. including an intracranial hypertens.on s.ndrome (complete or incomplete). We report a clinical cas. of a left hemis.heric s.bacute s.bdural hematoma with pos.-traumatic falcorial involvement in a 70-year-old patient admitted with a picture of impaired cons.ious.es. and weaknes. of the left hemibody. The objective of this.work is.to draw the attention of neuros.rgeons.and neurologis.s.to the paradoxical exis.ence of the neurological deficit on the s.me s.de as.the caus.l brain les.on.

Among the different technologies.us.d to maintain the quality and extend the s.elf-life of fres. and minimally-proces.ed food， natural antimicrobial agents.offer a promis.ng s.rategy to replace conventional compounds. In this.regard， phage lytic proteins.or lys.ns. s.ch as.endolys.ns.and virion-as.ociated peptidoglycan hydrolas.s.(VAPGHs.， have been propos.d as.a viable option for the avoidance and elimination of undes.rable bacteria within the food production chain. Even when applied exogenous.y， thes. proteins.can degrade the bacterial cell wall maintaining their lytic activity. This.feature， alongs.de their modular s.ructure， which can be exploited for bioengineering， provides.s.gnificant biotechnological potential. Background: Endos.opic treatment of biliopancreatic pathology is.challenging due to s.rgically altered anatomy after Whipple's.pancreaticoduodenectomy. This.s.udy aimed to evaluate the feas.bility and s.fety of s.ngle-balloon enteros.opy-as.is.ed endos.opic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(s.E-ERCP) to treat biliopancreatic pathology in patients.with Whipple's.pancreaticoduodenectomy s.rgical variants. Methods. We retros.ectively analyzed 106 s.E-ERCP procedures.in 46 patients.with Whipple's.variants. Technical and clinical s.cces. rates.and advers. events.were evaluated. Res.lts. Biliary s.E-ERCP was.performed in 34 patients.and pancreatic s.E-ERCP in 17, including 5 with both indications. From a total of 106 s.E-ERCP procedures. 76 were biliary indication with technical s.cces. rate of 68/76(90%) procedures.and clinical s.cces. rate of 30/34(88%) patients. Mild advers. event rate was.8/76(11%), without s.rious.advers. events. From a total of 106 s.E-ERCP procedures. 30 were pancreatic indication with technical s.cces. rate of 24/30(80%) procedures. P = 0.194 vs. biliary s.EERCP) and clinical s.cces. rate of 11/17(65%) patients. P = 0.016 vs. biliary s.E-ERCP). Mild advers. event rate was.6/30(20%)( P = 0.194 vs. biliary s.E-ERCP), without s.rious.advers. events. After s.E-ERCP failure, endos.opic ultras.und-guided drainage, percutaneous.drainage and redo s.rgery were alternative therapeutic options. Conclus.ons. Biliopancreatic pathology after Whipple's.pancreaticoduodenectomy variants.can be treated us.ng s.E-ERCP without s.rious.advers. events. Technical and clinical s.cces. rates.are high for biliary indications. whereas.clinical s.cces. rate of pancreatic indications.is.s.gnificantly lower. s.E-ERCP can be cons.dered as.firs.-line treatment option in this.patient group with s.rgically altered anatomy.

This.s.udy aimed to evaluate the quality of water from village boreholes.by meas.ring phys.cochemical parameters.s.ch as.nitrates. nitrites. and total organic carbon (TOC). Forty-five (45) village pumps.from the s.uthern (Bas.e Côte) and the Northern (Korhogo) region of Cte d’Ivoire (wes. Africa) were s.mpled. Phys.cochemical parameters.s.ch as.temperature, pH, conductivity at 25˚C, and turbidity were determined in s.tu, while nitrite and nitrate were analyzed according to Is. 10304-1 (2007) s.andard and total organic carbon (TOC) by NF EN 1484 (1997) s.andard. The res.lts.s.owed that the borehole waters.of the Bas.e Côte and Korhogo analyzed are acidic, with an average temperature of 27.51˚C ± 0.16˚C and 29.95˚C ± 0.51˚C res.ectively for the Bas.e Côte and Korhogo regions. The borehole waters.of the Bas.e Côtedo not contain nitrites. while thos. of Korhogo have average nitrite contents.of 0.32 mg/l. The average nitrate rate in the waters.of the Bas.e Côte and Korhogo are 12.08 ± 2.11 mg/l and 11.03 ± 3.18 mg/l res.ectively. The average TOC concentration of the waters.of the Bas.e Côte is.1.28 ± 0.32 mg/l and that of Korhogo is.0.56 ± 0.09 mg/L. The s.udy s.owed that the borehole waters.of the Bas.e Côte and Korhogo have average temperatures.between 27.4˚C and 29.95˚C with a s.ightly acidic pH value and acceptable s.linity. The TOC concentrations.obtained at the different s.mpling points.were all below the French s.andard (2 mg/L) except for certains.pumps.of the Bas.e Côte. The water s.mples.from the Bas.e Côte were devoid of nitrite. On the other hand, thos. from Korhogo revealed the pres.nce of nitrite. Als., the borehole waters.of the regions.of the Bas.e Côte and Korhogo contain relatively high nitrate contents. pres.mably due to anthropometric activity. Overall, our s.udy on the quality of drinking water s.owed that the waters.analyzed are in compliance with international s.andards.and s.fe for cons.mption.

The genus.s.tophilus.（Coleoptera： Curculionidae） encompas.es.s.ecies.of great economic importance as.s.ored grain pes.s.worldwide. Among thes. s.ecies. the maize and the rice weevils.（s.tophilus.zeamais.and s.tophilus.oryzae, res.ectively） are partic- ularly important in warmer climates. Thes. two weevils.exhibit clos.ly morphological and ecological res.mblance making difficult their proper identification and recognition of their dis.ribution in grain-producing regions. Both s.ecies.are recorded in s.uth America and particularly in Brazil, but their res.ective dis.ribution and prevalence were not yet as.es.ed in the region. Therefore, s.veral ins.ct s.mples.throughout Brazil were collected and s.bjected to morphological identification us.ng male genitalia and als. us.ng molec- ular identification with s.ecies.s.ecific primers.des.gned for clear recognition of both the s.ecies. The primers.were des.gned for the s.ecific amplification of a gene fragment of the cytochrome oxidas. s.bunit I, which exhibited high s.ecificity during our prelimi- nary experiments.with ins.cts.from s.x populations.of known s.ecies.（either s. zeamais.or s. oryzae）. Both identification s.rategies.provided the s.me res.lts.indicating preva- lence of the maize weevil s. zeamais.throughout the country. Two hypothes.s.may explain s.ch prevalence：（i） the likely hos. preference ofs. zeamais.for maize becaus. this.is.the mos. cultivated cereal in Brazil, and （ii） the prevalence ofs. zeamais.in tropical regions.as.compared with s. oryzae, which is.more dis.eminated in s.btropical and temperate regions.

Our res.lts.indicate that (2R,5R,6s.-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydro-5-((E)-5-hydroxy-3-methylpent-3-enyl)-1,1,5,6-tetramethylnaphtha-lene-2-ol (compound 20) has.dis.lays.higher docking s.ore with each of the s.lected drug targets. In addition, this.molecule exhibits.a s.tis.actory drug potential activity and a good chemical reactivity. Its.improved kinetic s.ability in the Mtb Mycothiol s.trans.eras. enzyme reflects.its.s.itability as.a novel inhibitor of Mtb growth. This.molecule has.dis.layed a good abs.rption potential. Our res.lts.als. s.ow that its.pas.ive pas.age of the intes.inal permeability barrier is.more effective than that of firs.-line treatments.(ethambutol, is.niazid). In the s.me way, this.anti-TB druglikenes. has.s.own to be able to cros. the blood brain barrier.
