mid-devonian high-pressure(HP)and high-temperature(HT)metamorphism represents an enigmatic early phase in the evolution of the Variscan *** the Bohemian massif this metamorphism is recorded mostly in allochthonous complexes with uncertain relationship to the major tectonic *** this regard,the mariánskéLázně Complex(mLC)is unique in its position at the base of its original upper plate(Teplá-Barrandian Zone).The mLC is composed of diverse,but predominantly mafic,magmatic-metamorphic rocks with late Ediacaran to mid-devonian protolith ***-devonian HP eclogite-facies metamorphism was swiftly followed by a HT granulite-facies overprint contemporaneous with the emplacement of magmatic rocks with apparent supra-subduction *** Hf in zircon isotopic measurements combined with a review of whole-rock isotopic and geochemical data reveals that the magmatic protoliths of the mLC,as well as in the upper plate Teplá-Barrandian Zone,developed above a relatively unaltered Neoproterozoic lithospheric *** remained coupled with this lithospheric mantle throughout a geological timeframe that encompasses separate Ediacaran and Cambrian age arc magmatism,protracted early Paleozoic rifting,and the earliest phases of the Variscan *** results are presented in the context of reconstructing the original architecture of the Variscan terranes up to and including the mid-devonian HP-HT event.

The synthesis of geological and petroleum research undertaken in the coastal Sedimentary Basin of the Pointe-Noire region enabled the establishment of a lithostratigraphic scale. It has been observed that the order in which the series observed in outcrop and those encountered by deep wells succeed each other has allowed a value to be given to this relative scale. The study area corresponds to a longitudinal tectonic accident, fault or flexure. It belongs to the Cretaceous and Tertiary coastal sedimentary basin covered by the Plio-Pleistocene age formations (series of circuses), formed of highly permeable sands comprising multiple resistant horizons that store large bodies of water whose reserves are considered very important. Hydrographic network is composed of four main basins with a mediocre size. The quality of this groundwater is considered to be satisfactory for household consumption, but the sustainable management of these reserves requires constant checks on their quality as well as on the level of the reserves. All these resources put the agglomeration of Pointe-Noire close to large exploitable water reserves that meet the need for drinking water, even if, on the whole, the agglomeration is still experiencing many difficulties in terms of its drinking water supply.

Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) remains a major global public health problem. This complex metabolic disorder can lead to various complications, including cardiovascular diseases (leading cause of death) in T2D. Among the biochemical markers associated with increased risk for cardiovascular disease, homocysteine is currently one of the predictive markers under evaluation. We investigate the link between hyperhomocysteinemia and diabetes complications in DT2 population in Brazzaville. methodology: We conducted a cross-sectional analytical study, from October to december 2022. One hundred and fifty participants were included, 100 patients T2D (34 with complications, 33 with comorbidities, 33 without), and 50 patients controls. Sociodemographic and clinical characteristics were collected. homocysteine (Hcy) serum levels were measured using Sandwich ELISA method. Results: Study population was composed of 50% males and 50% females with sex ratio of 1;mean age was 52.2 ± 10.8 years (30 - 83). The prevalence of hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) was 36% (20% moderate Hcy, 15% intermediate and 1% severe). mean Hcy concentration was 31.9 μmol/l (18 - 103). Age, gender and physical inactivity were strongly correlated to Hcy (OR of 3.5;9.4 and 3 respectively). multivariate analysis showed that HHcy was a risk accelerator for degenerative complications (stroke: OR = 6.2;ischemic heart disease: 4.9;neuropathy: 9.2;retinopathy: 4.5 and peripheral arterial disease: 4.9). Conclusion: These findings suggest that hyperhomocysteinemia can be considered as a predictive marker to be taken into account in targeting cardiovascular risk in Congolese subjects with T2D.

molecular Characterization of RHD in Rh-Negative Blood Donors in Congo Brazzaville

Background: The D antigen is the most important and immunogenic antigen of the Rh blood group;its correct screening prevents any risk of alloimmunization in the RHD negative recipient. The D negative phenotype is characterized by the absence of the D antigen (RH1) on the surface of the erythrocyte. Three main mechanisms can generate this absence: total or partial deletion of the RHD gene, insertion of base pairs within the said gene and gene conversion. The objective of this study was to report the first data on RHD genotyping in RHD negative congolese blood donors. materials and methods: Blood samples came from regular RHD-negative blood donors selected from the blood transfusion stations in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire. They were analyzed individually by conventional PCR, targeting exons 4, 5, 7 and 10 of the RHD gene. Results: Fifty-nine regular RHD negative blood donors were selected for this study. The immuno-hematological profile was determined individually, and the dccee phenotype was the most frequent (n = 52;88.1%). The search for the weak D antigen was negative for all donors. Exons 4, 5, 7 and 10 of the RHD gene were amplified in the following respective proportions: 89.8%, 81.4%, 6.8% and 42.4%. moreover, (1) donor was found to carry all four specific exons sought. Conclusion: Conventional PCR amplification allowed to study the presence of specific exons of the targeted D gene. At least one exon was detected in the entire study population. These results suggest that the RHD gene is indeed present in the donors studied and that the deletion cannot be considered as the main mechanism causing the RH-1 (D negative) phenotype in this sample.

Prevalence and Genotyping of Human Papillomavirus among Women in the departments of Niari and Bouenza, Republic of the Congo

Human papillomaviruses (HPV) are at the origin of many mucosal, benign or malignant skin pathologies. Some so-called high-risk genotypes, especially types 16 and 18, are involved in the genesis of cervical cancer, one of the most common cancers in women. To determine the prevalence of HPV infections and to identify oncogenic genotypes circulating in the departments of Niari and Bouenza. A total of 207 cervical samples collected between 2019 and 2020 were studied. Cervico vaginal smears were performed on all samples for cytological analysis, and HPV DNA detection and genotyping were performed on GeneXpert. The average age of the women who participated in this study was 43.67 ± 12.31 years in Niari and 38.29 ± 10.52 in Bouenza with age intervals ranging from 18 to 80 years. Cytological analysis of these samples reported the following prevalences: Normal diagnosed in 89.58% (186/207) cases, ASCUS in 5.31% (11/207) cases, LSIL in 2.89% (6/207) cases, and ICC in 1.93% (4/207) cases. The prevalence of HPV infection was detected in 83.54% (66/186) of women without lesions, 6.32% (5/11) of ASCUS women and 10.12% (8/10) of women with cytological abnormalities [5.06% (4/6) LSIL, and 5.06% (4/4) ICC]. In total, 79 of the 207 women in our study tested positive for one or more HPV-HR types, or 38.16%. In the department of Niari 37.5% (48/128) women tested positive for HPV, and in the department of Bouenza 39.24% (31/79) tested positive for HPV. multiple infections ranged from two to more than three strains of HPV. No statistically significant association was observed between socio-demographic characteristics and genotyping (p > 0.05). On the other hand, HPV-HR prevalence varied significantly according to cervical cytology (p = 0.001). The results obtained show the predominance of HPV 16 in women in these two departments of Congo.
