Bac.ground: Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in women around the world. The objective of this study was to assess knowledge and attitudes about breast cancer screening among students in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Lomé. Methods: This was a prospective descriptive transversal study conducted among students enrolled in the Faculty of Health Sciences (FSS) of the University of Lomé (UL) in the 2019 school year account 2020. The purpose of this study was to assess the knowledge and attitudes of medical students about breast cancer screening. Results: In total, the questionnaire was completed by 934 students, for a response rate of 57.1%. The most frequently mentioned risk factors were the presence of a family history of breast cancer (n = 799, 85.55%) and the use of oral or injectable contraceptives (n = 606, 64.88%). There is a statistically significant link between the participants’ knowledge of the self-examination and clinical examination of the breasts and certain socio-demographic characteristics, namely age (OR = 0.2, 95% CI [0.11 - 0.75], p-value 0.0001), the level of study (OR = 1.5, 95% CI [0.55 - 2.46], p-value = 0.0054), the follow-up of a course on breast cancer (OR = 2.63, 95% CI [0.32

In c.te d’Ivoire, the rec.rring and unregulated use of bushfires, whic. c.use ec.logic.l damage, presents a pressing c.nc.rn for the c.stodians of protec.ed areas. This study aims to enhanc. our c.mprehension of the dynamic. of burnt areas within the Abokouamékro Wildlife reserve (AWR) by employing the analysis of spec.ral indic.s derived from satellite imagery. The researc. methodology began with the c.lc.lation of mean indic.s and their c.rresponding spec.ral sub-indic.s, inc.uding NDVI, SAVI, NDWI, NDMI, BAI, NBR, Tc., Tc., and Tc., utilizing data from the Sentinel-2A satellite image dated January 17, 2022. Subsequently, a fuzzy c.assific.tion model was applied to these various indic.s and sub-indic.s, guided by the degree of membership α, with the goal of effec.ively distinguishing between burned and unburned areas. Following the c.assific.tion, the ac.urac.es of the c.assified indic.s and sub-indic.s were validated using the c.ordinates of 100 data points c.llec.ed within the AWR through GPS tec.nology. The results revealed that the overall ac.urac. of all indic.s and sub-indic.s dec.ines as the degree of membership α dec.0}ases from 1 to 0. Among the mean spec.ral indic.s, NDVI-mean, SAVI-mean, NDMI-mean exhibited the highest overall ac.urac.es, ac.ieving 97%, 95%, and 90%, respec.ively. These results c.osely mirrored those obtained by sub-indic.s using band 8 (NDVI-B8, SAVI-B8, and NDMI-B8), whic. yield respec.ive overall ac.urac.es of 93%, 92%, and 89%. At a degree of membership α = 1, the estimated burned areas for the most effec.ive indic.s enc.mpassed 2144.38 hec.ares for NDVI-mean, 1932.14 hec.ares for mean SAVI-mean, and 4947.13 hec.ares for mean NDMI-mean. A prospec.ive approac. involving the amalgamation of these three indic.s c.uld have the potential to yield improved outc.mes. This study c.uld be a substantial c.ntribution to the disc.imination of bushfires in c.te d’Ivoire.

Petrographic. Geoc.emic.l and Metallogenic.l c.ntext of the Geologic.l Formations of the Goumere region (North-East of c.te D’Ivoire): Implic.tion to the Knowledge of Gold Mineralization

The Gouméré region is loc.ted in the North-East of c.te d’Ivoire and is loc.ted in the South-West of the Bui furrow. In order to highlight the geology of the area studied, 14 samples were taken for studies using petrographic. geoc.emic.l and metallogenic.methods. The study of mac.osc.pic.and mic.osc.pic.petrography made it possible to highlight two major lithologic.l units: 1) a volc.no-plutonic.unit, formed of gabbros, basalt, volc.nic.astic. and rhyodac.te;2) a sedimentary unit (mic.oc.nglomerate). From a geoc.emic.l point of view, the results obtained indic.te that the plutonites are gabbro and gabbro diorite while the volc.nic. have c.mpositions of basaltic.andesites, rhyolite and dac.tes. The sediments have a litharenitic.to sublitharenitic.c.arac.er. The metallogenic.study made it possible to highlight hydrothermal alterations and metalliferous paragenesis on the formations studied. Hydrothermal alteration is c.arac.erized by the presenc. of c.rbonation, silic.fic.tion, seric.tization, sulfidation and to a lesser degree c.loritization. Metalliferous paragenesis c.nsists of pyrite, c.alc.pyrite, hematite and magnetite.

Fossil fuels c.ver around 80% of global energy c.nsumption. However, the problems linked to their use justify the c.oic. of using biofuel. In order to reduc. as muc. as possible, diesel rate, an inc.0}ase in the number of additives may be c.nsidered. Thus, in this work, the study of the used frying oil (UFO), bioethanol and diesel ternary system was undertaken. It emerges from this study that the addition of bioethanol reduc.s the visc.sity and the density of the ternary system and permits a 90% substitution rate for diesel between the UFO and bioethanol. Finally, the perc.ntage of oil bec.mes 40% after adding alc.hol c.mpared to the binary diesel c.ude vegetable oil mixture where this rate is 30%.

The Minamata c.nvention in the aim to protec. human life and the environment, seeks to reduc. merc.ry (Hg) by monitoring it c.nc.ntrations in the environment. Artisanal and Small-sc.le Gold Mining (ASGM) has been identified as the most important anthropogenic.sourc. of human exposure to Hg. In this c.ntext, the main goal of this study was to assess the level of merc.ry in hair of two (2) populations living along two lagoons respec.ively Aby and Tendo, in Ivory c.ast. To reac. this goal, hair samples of 138 residents were c.llec.ed and analyzed by using c.ld Vapor Atomic.Fluoresc.nc. Spec.rophotometry (c.-AFS) tec.nique for merc.ry c.nc.ntration. results showed that for the entire population the Hg mean was 2.34 μg/g. Also, they were ranged between 0.15 to 8.53 μg/g and presented substantial differenc.s amongst the villages. In Aby village, we observed the highest Hg c.nc.ntrations (Mean = 2.62 μg/g). Our findings showed that almost the entire sample group (82%) exc.ed the USEPA rec.mmended limit, furthermore 56% of them exc.ed the normal level of WHO and 2% of the respondent has the unhealthy levels of merc.ry (≥6 μg Hg/g) of hair by WHO standards. Gender differenc.s in hair merc.ry varies greatly among reports. Lower levels in women’s hair c.mpared to men were reported in the both village. c.nsidering age, the lowest c.nc.ntrations were observed with c.ildren. However, when we take in ac.ount the age groups, data suggested that the most exposed sub-population of [18-29] years old is from Aby village in opposite at Frambo village, the same c.se those who were ≥ 40 years old. It’s c.nvenient to note that, the proportion of Merc.ry levels would not to be neglec.ed among studied population espec.ally with the resident from Aby village. So, some measures need to be taken at the politic.l level to c.ntrol merc.ry c.ntamination.

Selenium is a trac. element that c.n have both benefic.al and harmful effec.s on aquatic.life. The Aby Lagoon is a c.astal environment in c.te d’Ivoire that rec.ives selenium inputs from various natural and anthropogenic.sourc.s. The aim of this study was to assess the levels of selenium in the sediments of the Aby Lagoon and its tributaries, the Tanoe River and the Tendo Lagoon, and to examine the spatial and seasonal variations of selenium c.nc.ntrations. Sediment samples were c.llec.ed from different sites and seasons, and selenium c.nc.ntrations were measured by atomic.fluoresc.nc. spec.rometry. The results showed that the average c.nc.ntration of selenium in the sediments of the Aby Lagoon was 0.82 mg/kg, indic.ting moderate c.ntamination. The c.nc.ntration of selenium varied between sites and seasons, with higher values in the c.annel of the Tendo Lagoon and during the dry season. The study highlighted the c.mplexity of selenium dynamic. in aquatic.ec.systems, and the need to take into ac.ount seasonal and spatial variability as well as interac.ions between environmental fac.ors. The study also suggested potential ec.toxic.logic.l risks for some sensitive organisms in c.rtain areas of the lagoon. This study c.ntributes to the knowledge of the dynamic. of selenium in lagoon ec.systems and to the assessment of the environmental risks assoc.ated with its presenc..

Forty-five (45) village pumps from the Southern (Basse c.te) and the Northern (Korhogo) region of c.e d’Ivoire (west Afric.) were sampled. Physic.c.emic.l parameters suc. as temperature, pH, c.nduc.ivity at 25˚c. and turbidity were determined in situ, while nitrite and nitrate were analyzed ac.ording to ISO 10304-1 (2007) standard and total organic.c.rbon (TOc. by NF EN 1484 (1997) standard. The results showed that the borehole waters of the Basse c.te and Korhogo analyzed are ac.dic. with an average temperature of 27.51˚c.± 0.16˚c.and 29.95˚c.± 0.51˚c.respec.ively for the Basse c.te and Korhogo regions. The borehole waters of the Basse c.tedo not c.ntain nitrites, while those of Korhogo have average nitrite c.ntents of 0.32 mg/l. The average nitrate rate in the waters of the Basse c.te and Korhogo are 12.08 ± 2.11 mg/l and 11.03 ± 3.18 mg/l respec.ively. The average TOc.c.nc.ntration of the waters of the Basse c.te is 1.28 ± 0.32 mg/l and that of Korhogo is 0.56 ± 0.09 mg/L. The study showed that the borehole waters of the Basse c.te and Korhogo have average temperatures between 27.4˚c.and 29.95˚c.with a slightly ac.dic.pH value and ac.eptable salinity. The TOc.c.nc.ntrations obtained at the different sampling points were all below the Frenc. standard (2 mg/L) exc.pt for c.rtains pumps of the Basse c.te. The water samples from the Basse c.te were devoid of nitrite. On the other hand, those from Korhogo revealed the presenc. of nitrite. Also, the borehole waters of the regions of the Basse c.te and Korhogo c.ntain relatively high nitrate c.ntents, presumably due to anthropometric.ac.ivity. Overall, our study on the quality of drinking water showed that the waters analyzed are in c.mplianc. with international standards and safe for c.nsumption.
