The oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)activity of carbonized ZIF-8(CZ)and its Fe-doped derivatives,CZ-A(doped with ammonium iron(II)sulphate)and CZ-B(doped with iron(II)acetate),were examined in both acidic(0.5 M H_(2)SO_(4))and basic(0.1 M KOH)electrolytes using a rotating disk electrode *** data show that the ORR activity of the Fe-doped catalysts is higher than that of pure CZ,with a higher activity in basic than acidic *** materials characterization highlights important differences in the sample crystallinity,morphology,porosity,and chemical composition as a function of the deployed *** performance of the prepared catalysts is also impacted by the Fe precursor selection,highlighting the importance of such synthetic parameters in controlling the density and identify of Fe-Nx active *** results demonstrate the potential application of Fe-doped carbonized ZIF-8 catalysts for the ORR in basic electrolyte and offer important knowledge for the future design of non-precious metal fuel cell electrocatalysts.

We consider the Cauchy-Dirichlet problem for linear divergence form parabolic operators in bounded Reifenberg flat domain. The coefficients supposed to be only measurable in one of the space variables and small BMO with respect to the others. We obtain Calderon-Zygmund type estimate for the gradient of the solution in generalized weighted Morrey spaces with Muckenhoupt weight.

Background: Schizoaffective Disorder (SAD), similarly to schizophrenia, is a potentially chronic mental disorder that negatively affects the functioning of a patient. Various issues in everyday clinical practice often arise from its diagnostic and therapeutic uncertainty. To date, there is a lack of a well-defined therapeutic algorithm used to treat the simultaneously manifesting schizophrenic and affective components. The aim of this study was to compare the therapeutic approaches in schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders to identify the need of different treatment strategy for these diseases. Methods: In a retrospective study, we evaluated the therapeutic algorithms used in all patients with SAD (n = 99) hospitalized at the Department of Psychiatry, Comenius University in Bratislava, Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital Bratislava throughout the year 2010 and compared them with the therapeutic procedures used in all schizophrenia patients hospitalized in the same year (n = 120). Results: We found similarities between the groups of patients with schizophrenia and SAD in the number, type and length of hospitalizations and general patient management. Differences were identified in terms of the spectrum of used pharmacotherapy. For the treatment of both mental disorders, atypical antipsychotics were used the most. In the treatment of schizophrenia, we found the most frequent use of combined antipsychotic therapy, meaning oral and long-acting injectable forms. Patients with SAD mostly received antipsychotic monotherapy, but its complex effects were supplemented with other psychotropic drugs, mostly mood-stabilizers and anxiolytics. Conclusion: The results of our study show similarities between schizophrenia and SAD in terms of health care utilization, despite the fact that SAD is generally considered to be a “milder” disorder. On the other hand, this study indicates differences in the spectrum of pharmacotherapy used.

Remotely sensed spectral data and images are acquired under significant additional effects accompanying their major formation process, which greatly determine measurement accuracy. In order to be used in subsequent quantitative analysis and assessment, this data should be subject to preliminary processing aiming to improve its accuracy and credibility. The paper considers some major problems related with preliminary processing of remotely sensed spectral data and images. The major factors are analyzed, which affect the occurrence of data noise or uncertainties and the methods for reduction or removal thereof. Assessment is made of the extent to which available equipment and technologies may help reduce measurement errors.

Effects of testosterone and estradiol on anxiety and depressive-like behavior via a non-genomic pathway

Besides their known slow genomic effects, testosterone and estradiol have rapid effects in the brain. However, their impact on mood-related behavior is not clear. The aim of this study was to investigate the non-genomic pathway of testosterone and estradiol in the amygdala in relation to anxiety and depressive-like behavior. Sham-operated and gonadectomized male rats （GDX） supplemented with testosterone propionate, estradiol, or olive oil were used. Five minutes after administration, anxiety and depression-like behavior were tested. Estradiol increased anxiolytic behavior in the open-field test compared to the GDX group, but administration of testosterone had no significant effect. Besides, c-Fos expression in the medial nucleus of the amygdala significantly increased after testosterone treatment compared to the GDX group, while no significant difference was observed in the central and the basolateral nuclei of the amygdala in the testosterone-treated group compared to the GDX group. In conclusion, estradiol had an anxiolytic effect via a rapid pathway, but no rapid effect of testosterone on anxiety was found. Further studies elucidating whether the rapid effect is mediated by a non-genomic pathway are needed.
