Influence of Formulation and Hot-Pressing Conditions on the Performance of Bio-Based molasses Adhesive for Plywood

molasses can serve as a natural adhesive for plywood and particleboard. However, several disadvantages remain, including lower dimensional stability and low bonding strength compared to other adhesives. Therefore, modifications are needed to use molasses as an adhesive for plywood. This research aims to improve bio-based molasses (mO) adhesive for plywood using citric acid (CA) adhesive. In addition, this research aims to analyze the effect of adding citric acid and to investigate the optimum hot-pressing temperature to produce the best quality plywood. In the first stage, the molasses and citric acid were combined in a ratio of 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, 0:100 w/w%. Then, the second stage focuses on analyzing the influences of pressing temperature based on an optimum first stage. The research demonstrated that the addition of CA altered the gelation time, solid content, visc-osity, and pH of the molasses adhesives. In addition, the thermal properties of molasses adhesives were changed after mixing with citric acid. These phenomena indicate changes in characteristics, such as the curing of adhesive. Overall, the characteristics of plywood showed a steady improvement as the CA ratio increased but revealed a significant decline for the 25:75 mO-CA ratio. By raising the pressing temperature from 180°C to 200°C, the quality of plywood was effectively improved. The plywood that was bonded using adhesives with a 50:50 mO-CA ratio exhibited superior mechanical properties and improved dimensional stability compared to the plywood bonded solely with mO. Furthermore, the optimal mechanical and physical properties resulted in plywood bonded with a 50:50 mO-CA ratio when subjected to a pressing temperature of 200°C. The Thermal and FTIr measurements revealed that CA established ester bonds with both the mO and wood veneers. In conclusion, the mechanical characteristics of plywood were improved, while maintaining its excellent dimensional stability. © 2024 The Authors.

Objective:To assess the effect of short-term gavage of ethanolic extract of Imperata cylindrica L root on the ovarian activity and estrus behavior of female ***:Eighteen virgin female ddY mice,8 to 10 weeks of age,weighing 22-25 g with regular estrus cycle,were divided into three *** 1 received 0.5%carboxymethylcellulose,whereas Groups 2 and 3 received the ethanolic extract of Imperata cylindrica L root at 90 and 115 mg/kg body weight(b.w.)per day by gavage for 20 days,*** of the groups were checked before 9 *** for vaginal cytology to determine the estrus *** day 21,the mice were sacrificed to collect serum samples to quantify the concentrations of reproductive hormones using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and to determine changes in the reproductive organs based on their reproductive organ weight,histomorphology,and histomorphometry of ovarium and ***:The reproductive organ weight in the treatment groups was similar compared with that in the control *** 90 mg/kg *** group showed an increase in corpus luteum number when compared with the control group,with few degenerated follicles and diminished ***,the 115 mg/kg *** group showed fewer primordial and primary follicles and an increase in corpus luteum number and a prolonged diestrus phase compared to the control and 90 mg/kg *** *** histomorphology examination of the uterus showed that the thickness of myometrium and epithelium in the treated animals was similar to the control *** addition,there was a significant decrease in follicle-stimulating hormone level in the 115 mg/kg *** group(Prt-term gavage of ethanolic extract of Imperata cylindrica L root reduces the follicle-stimulating hormone serum level and folliculogenesis.

There is still very little information on the sources of water absorbed by oil palm plant. This information is very important for water management system in oil palm plantation. Thus, this study was carried out to determine current water sources absorbed by the oil palm roots using oxygen (δ18O) and deuterium isotopes (δD) techniques. Sketches of oxygen and deuterium isotope were total rainfall, throughfall, runoff, measurement at 5 soil depths (namely: 20 cm, 50 cm, 100 cm, 150 cm, and 200 cm), and oil palm stem. results of this study showed huge variance in the values of oxygen and deuterium isotope. Based on Least Significant Difference (LSD) test, there was no significant value in the oxygen and deuterium isotope of stem water and others;however, a similar value was obtained at the depths of 0 - 20 cm and 20 - 50 cm with the stem water. This indicated that oil palm absorbed water from 0 - 50 cm depth. This result agreed with the oil palm rooting system, which has verified that the root quarter is the most active root of oil palm.

2004年12月26日苏门答腊特大地震是过去50年间在俯冲带发生的第三大地震。其破裂开始于锡默卢岛西北部30～40km深处(Lay et al,2005),传播1300km至安达曼群岛北部(Ammon et al,2005)。这次大地震是由俯冲的印度-澳大利亚板块与上部的巽他板块之间界面的突然滑动引起的(rhie et al,2007;Vigny et al,2005)。尽管俯冲界面结构的详细认识对于确定大型逆冲地震潜在源非常重要,但是,目前为止可用的数据(Henstock et al,2006;Sibuet et al,2007;Dewey et al,2007;Engdahlet al,2007)还无法提供这样的信息。本文展示了震源区一条高质量的地震剖面,其展布从深海平原向下延伸到弧前下面40km。地震数据显示,俯冲地壳和大洋莫霍面(地壳-地幔边界)被陆向倾斜的逆冲断层损坏并移位,意味着此大型逆冲断层目前位于大洋地幔内。我们对增生楔前缘的活动逆冲断层成像,其特点与陡峭倾斜面上的逆冲型余震一致。我们的观测结果表明,是壳幔间的强耦合导致地幔岩石脆性破裂,从而引发此次异常大的地震。
