3D TECA hydrogel reduces cellular senescence and enhances fibroblasts migration in wound healing

This study was designed to investigate the effect of 3 D TECA hydrogel on the inflammatory-induced senescence marker, and to assess the influence of the gel on the periodontal lig-ament fibroblasts(PDLFs) migration in wound healing in vitro. PDLFs were cultured with20 ng/ml TNF-α to induce inflammation in the presence and absence of 50 μm 3 D TECA gelfor 14 d. The gel effect on the senescence maker secretory associated-β-galactosidase(SA-β-gal) activity was measured by a histochemical staining. Chromatin condensation and DNAsynthesis of the cells were assessed by 4,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole and 5-ethynyl-2-deoxyuridine fluorescent staining respectively. For evaluating fibroblasts migration, scratchwound healing assay and Pro-Plus Imaging software were used. The activity of senescencemarker, SA-β-gal, was positive in the samples with TNF-α-induced inflammation. SA-β-galpercentage is suppressed( > 65%, P mpared tothe non-treated cells. Chromatin foci were obvious in the non-treated samples. DNA syn-thesis was markedly recognized by the fluorescent staining in the treated compared to non-treated cultures. Scratch wound test indicated that the cells migration rate was significantlyhigher(14.9 μm^2/h, P m^2/h) for control PDLFs. The new for-mula of 3 D TECA suppresses the inflammatory-mediated cellular senescence and enhancedfibroblasts proliferation and migration. Therefore, 3 D TECA may be used as an adjunct to ac-celerate repair and healing of periodontal tissues.

The Role of <i>Helicobacter pylori</i>Infection, and malnutrition among Type 2 Diabetic medical Services Patients in the Gaza Strip

Background: Diabetes means the blood glucose, which is too high or too low. With Type 2 Dm, the more common type, the body does not make or use insulin well. In patients with Dm, Helicobacter pylori is one of the most common infections worldwide. Available data on the possible association between H. pylori infection and Dm are contradictory. There are a few studies in the middle East, and this study is the pioneer study, in the medical Services Clinics in Gaza strip. Aims: This study was conducted to reveal the prevalence of H. pylori infection, malnutrition, insulin resistance among T2Dm patients, to describe the dietary requirements of T2Dm patients, finally to evaluate the current information about diet, and lifestyle in the prevention of H. pylori, and malnutrition. methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted in the medical Services Clinics in Gaza Strip, and there were 129 patients included in this study. Data were collected through hematological information and structured interview questionnaire. Results: Highly significant percentage of H. pylori (70%) among the Dm patients includes in the study, but not indicates any significant association between gender and H. pylori status. Conclusion: H. pylori patients should update their sugar level values in the record, and should get exercise and diet plan for every meal.

Experimental and Simulation Validation of Piezoelectric Road Energy Harvesting

This project strived to develop a prototype road piezoelectric energy harvester RPEH system using five Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT) PZT 5H modules (stacks) that are embedded in the road by means of a housing unit to harvest energy from vehicles stressing the modules. The work is an extension of our previous published work in the same journal. The design considered many factors to optimize the harvested energy. The proposed system first captures mechanical energy using a designed module that transfers the energy to the piezoelectric stacks. Then the captured energy will be converted into electrical energy by the piezoelectric phenomenon. The harvested energy is stored in a storage device, then analyzed by an oscilloscope through the acquisition of the harvested voltage, current, power, and energy. When testing the RPEH with the wheel tracking machine, varying resistor loads where connected to the output of the RPEH to address the optimum power delivered to the load. The optimum load was found to be 950 kΩ, and the optimal harvested energy was recorded as 45 uJ.
