The effects of simultaneous operation on dissociated vertical deviation with horizontal and torsional strabismus

AIM: To investigate the therapeutic effects of simultaneous horizontal and vertical operations on dissociated vertical deviation(DVD) associated with other deviations.METHODS: Forty-five cases of DVD with horizontal and torsional strabismus underwent combined operation were collected retrospectively. All clinical records were analyzed. All patients were followed up for 6 to 24 mo. Wilcoxon signed-ranks test was performed to evaluate the changes of vertical and horizontal deviation. χ~2 test was used to evaluate the changes of binocular visual function. RESULTS: Forty-five cases included 36 patients with intermittent exotropia and binocular inferior oblique overaction(IOOA), 5 patients with concomitant esotropia and binocular IOOA, 4 patients with intermittent exotropia and monocular superior oblique palsy. The superior rectus recession(SRR) combined with horizontal rectus recession and the myectomy of inferior oblique or anterior transposition were operated simultaneously to correct all types of strabismus. There were 43 cases who achieved normal eye position in vertical direction, while 2 cases were with undercorrection of 5~Δ to 6~Δ. In patients with horizontal strabismus, 2 cases of exotropia were with overcorrection of 6~Δ to 8~Δ, 1 case of esotropia was with undercorrection of 6~Δ, and 1 case of monocular superior oblique palsy with compensatory head posture was not significantly improved. The binocular visual function of most patients recovered after operation. The difference of the binocular visual function and eye position were significant compared with that before operation(PluSION: The simultaneous operation on DVD with horizontal and torsional strabismus is successful.

Efficacy of rhNGF-loaded amniotic membrane transplantation for rabbit corneal epithelial and nerve regeneration

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy of recombinant human nerve growth factor-loaded amniotic membrane(rh NGF-AM)on corneal epithelial and nerve regeneration in rabbit model.METHODS:Freshly prepared human amniotic membrane(AM)were immersed into PBS buffer containing 100 or 500μg/mL rh NGF for 15,30,and 60 min at 4℃.The in vitro release kinetics of rh NGF was measured with ELISA.For in vivo evaluation,the AM were immersed with 500μg/mL rh NGF for 30 min.Fifty-seven rabbits were selected to establish corneal epithelial defect model.In addition to the 19 rabbits in control group,38 rabbits received AM transplantation with or without rh NGF after the removal of central epithelium.Corneal epithelial defect area,sub-epithelial nerve fiber density,corneal sensitivity,rh NGF contents in resident AM and corneas were measured after the surgery.RESULTS:rh NGF was sustained release from the AM within 14 d in vitro,with the positive correlation with initial immersion concentration.The immersion of AM in 500μg/mL rh NGF for 30 min achieved the most stable release within 14 d.After transplantation in rabbit cornea,a high concentration of rh NGF in resident rh NGF-AM and cornea was maintained within 8 d.Corneal epithelial healing,nerve fiber regeneration and the recovery of corneal sensitivity were significantly accelerated after the rh NGF-AM transplantation when compared to simple AM transplantation(all PluSION:Simple immersion of AM achieves the sustained release of rh NGF,and promotes corneal epithelial wound healing and nerve regeneration,as well as the recovery of corneal sensitivity in rabbit.

How to mine valuable information from massive multisource heterogeneous data and identify the intention of aerial targets is a major research focus at present. Aiming at the longterm dependence of air target intention recognition, this paper deeply explores the potential attribute features from the spatiotemporal sequence data of the target. First, we build an intelligent dynamic intention recognition framework, including a series of specific processes such as data source, data preprocessing,target space-time, convolutional neural networks-bidirectional gated recurrent unit-atteneion (CBA) model and intention recognition. Then, we analyze and reason the designed CBA model in detail. Finally, through comparison and analysis with other recognition model experiments, our proposed method can effectively improve the accuracy of air target intention recognition,and is of significance to the commanders’ operational command and situation prediction.

An effective catalyst carrier SiO_(2):Enhancing catalytic and combustion properties of CuFe_(2)O_(4)on energetic components

To enhance the catalytic activity of copper ferrite(CuFe_(2)O_(4))nanoparticle and promote its application as combustion catalyst,a low-cost silicon dioxide(SiO_(2))carrier was employed to construct a novel CuFe_(2)O_(4)/SiO_(2)binary composites via solvothermal method.The phase structure,morphology and catalytic activity of CuFe_(2)O_(4)/SiO_(2)composites were studied firstly,and thermal decomposition,combustion and safety performance of ammonium perchlorate(AP)and 1,3,5-trinitroperhydro-1,3,5-triazine(RDX)with it affecting were then systematically analyzed.The results show that CuFe_(2)O_(4)/SiO_(2)composite can remarkably either advance the decomposition peak temperature of AP and RDX,or reduce the apparent activation energy at their main decomposition zone.Moreover,the flame propagation rate of RDX was promoted by about 2.73 times with SiO_(2)content of 3 wt%,and safety property of energetic component was also improved greatly,in which depressing the electrostatic discharge sensitivity of pure RDX by about 1.89 times.In addition,the effective range of SiO_(2)carrier content in the binary catalyst is found to be 3 to 5 wt%.Therefore,SiO_(2)opens a new insight on the design of combustion catalyst carrier and will promote the application of CuFe_(2)O_(4)catalyst in solid propellant.

A Reliable Iteration Algorithm for One-Bit Compressive Sensing on the Unit Sphere

The one-bit compressed sensing problem is of fundamental importance in many areas,such as wireless communication,statistics,and so on.However,the optimization of one-bit problem coustrained on the unit sphere lacks an algorithm with rigorous mathematical proof of convergence and validity.In this paper,an iteration algorithm is established based on difference-of-convex algorithm for the one-bit compressed sensing problem constrained on the unit sphere,with iterating formula■,where C is the convex cone generated by the one-bit measurements andη_(1)>η_(2)>1/2.The new algorithm is proved to converge as long as the initial point is on the unit sphere and accords with the measurements,and the convergence to the global minimum point of the l_(1)norm is discussed.

Photoluminescence Properties of Nanocrystalline 3C-SiC Films

Nanocrystalline （nc） 3C-SiC films on the Si substrate were prepared by the helicon wave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition （HW-PECVD） technique. With the SiH4-CH4 gas flow ratio changing, the films exhibit different photoluminescence （PL） characteristics. Under the stoichiometric condition, the PL peak redshift from 470 nm to 515 nm is detected with the increase of excitation wavelength, which can be attributed to the quantum confinement effect radiation of 3C-SiC nanocrystals of different sizes. However, the appearance of an additional PL band at 436 nm in Si-rich film might be sourced back to the excess of Si defect centers in it. This is also the case for C-rich film for its PL band lying at 570 nm. The results above quoted indicate an important influence of gas flow ratio on the PL properties of the SiC films providing an effective guidance for analyzing the luminescence mechanism and exploring the high-efficiency light emission of the SiC films.

Numerical analysis of the correlation between fluid dynamic modes and hydrodynamic noise in flows around a three-dimensional circular cylinder

The flow around a circular cylinder for Re=1000 is characterized by flow separation and Karman vortex street.The typical flow features can be captured to study the correlation between fluid fields and sound fields.In this paper,the three-dimensional circular cylinder is taken as the research object,and the probes of surface fluctuating pressure and far field sound pressure are arranged every 10°.The directional diagram and the coherence of fluctuating pressure and sound pressure are analyzed.The relationship between the flow mode and hydrodynamic noise is studied by using dynamic mode decomposition(DMD).The characteristics of the dipole and quadrupole sound source term of a long span cylinder are studied.The results show that at the angles between 30°–120°and 190°–350°,the fluctuating pressure contributes more to the generation of dipole sounds.The quadrupole sound source shows three-dimensional effects,which is more obvious in a cylinder with large spanwise length.

Random Forest-Based Fatigue Reliability-Based Design Optimization for Aeroengine Structures

Fatigue reliability-based design optimization of aeroengine structures involves multiple repeated calculations of reliability degree and large-scale calls of implicit high-nonlinearity limit state function,leading to the traditional direct Monte Claro and surrogate methods prone to unacceptable computing efficiency and accuracy.In this case,by fusing the random subspace strategy and weight allocation technology into bagging ensemble theory,a random forest(RF)model is presented to enhance the computing efficiency of reliability degree;moreover,by embedding the RF model into multilevel optimization model,an efficient RF-assisted fatigue reliability-based design optimization framework is developed.Regarding the low-cycle fatigue reliability-based design optimization of aeroengine turbine disc as a case,the effectiveness of the presented framework is validated.The reliabilitybased design optimization results exhibit that the proposed framework holds high computing accuracy and computing efficiency.The current efforts shed a light on the theory/method development of reliability-based design optimization of complex engineering structures.

A promising approach to steady-state fusion: High-temperature superconducting strong-field stellarator with precise omnigenity

The stellarator has inherent advantages over the tokamak in achieving steady-state operation,especially due to its absence of disruptions and lack of need for current drive and the associated recirculating power.In recent years,there have been remarkable advances in the field of stellarator optimization,where precisely quasi-symmetric and precisely quasi-isodynamic magnetic configurations have been achieved with coils,allowing the neoclassical transport and energetic particle losses of stellarators to be reduced to levels comparable to those of tokamaks.At the same time,the development of high-temperature superconducting magnet technology will potentially double the magnetic field strength of stellarators.While these strong fields are expected to introduce new challenges,and while turbulent transport remains a common challenge for both stellarators and tokamaks,the combination of these physical and technological advances results in the expectation that stellarators will become a competitive approach to tokamaks for realizing steady-state fusion.

In-situ UV-Vis Spectroscopy of Trisulfur Radicals in Lithium-Sulfur Batteries

Here we employ in-situ UV-Vis spectroscopy to monitor the sulfur redox reaction with oxygen-containing molecules as an additive,for example,biphenyl-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid(BDC).Furthermore,Raman spectrum,electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR),and electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry(ESI-MS)measurements reveal that the formation of BDC-S_(3)•^(‒)complexes can establish the long-term stability of polysulfide radicals,change the kinetics of sulfur redox reaction,and then generate decent capacity retention and rate capability.According to the density functional theory(DFT)analysis,S_(3)•^(‒)radicals are the underlying product of S_(6)^(2‒)cleavage,owing to the decreased chemical energy and the increased stability of S_(3)•^(‒)radicals through Lewis acid-base interaction.The assembled Li-S batteries with BDC additive deliver a high reversible capacity of 420 mA·h·g^(−1)over 200 cycles with over 98%Coulombic efficiency,under the current density of 0.2 C.
