Although stress has been known to increase the susceptibility of pathogen infection,the underlying mechanism remains elusive.In this study,we reported that restraint stress dramatically enhanced the morbidity and mortality of mice infected with the influenza virus(H1N1)and obviously aggravated lung inflammation.Corticosterone(CORT),a main type of glucocorticoids in rodents,was secreted in the plasma of stressed mice.We further found that this stress hormone significantly boosted virus replication by restricting mitochondrial antiviral signaling(MAVS)protein-transduced IFN-βproduction without affecting its mRNA level,while the deficiency of MAVS abrogated stress/CORT-induced viral susceptibility in mice.Mechanistically,the effect of CORT was mediated by proteasome-dependent degradation of MAVS,thereby resulting in the impediment of MAVS-transduced IFN-βgeneration in vivo and in vitro.Furthermore,RNA-seq assay results indicated the involvement of Mitofusin 2(Mfn2)in this process.Gain-and loss-offunction experiments indicated that Mfn2 interacted with MAVS and recruited E3 ligase SYVN1 to promote the polyubiquitination of MAVS.Co-immunoprecipitation experiments clarified an interaction between any two regions of Mfn2(HR1),MAVS(C-terminal/TM)and SYVN1(TM).Collectively,our findings define the Mfn2-SYVN1 axis as a new signaling cascade for proteasome-dependent degradation of MAVS and a‘fine tuning’of antiviral innate immunity in response to influenza infection under stress.

Recently,S-scheme heterojunctions have gained considerable attention in the field of photocatalytic environmental remediation as their potential to achieve efficient spatial charge separation coupled with strong redox capacities.Herein,this review provides an overview of the current state-of-the-art in the development of S-scheme-based photocatalysts for the purification of environmental contaminants.The review first covers the fundamentals of heterogeneous photocatalysis for environmental purification.Subsequently,an introduction to the background,mechanism,design principles,and characterization techniques of S-scheme heterojunctions is presented.Then,the review presents a comparison and summary of using various S-scheme photocatalysts for the removal of several target pollutants,such as bacteria,heavy metals,nitrogen oxides,antibiotics,and phenols.Additionally,the modification strategies of S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts are also provided.Finally,a brief discussion of the challenges and prospects associated with S-scheme photocatalytic systems is demonstrated.

Mathematical model and numerical investigation of the influence of spray drying parameters on granule sizes of mold powder

In this work,the formation mechanism of the droplet-to-granule was investigated in detail based on mold powder manufacturing.A specific mathematical model of two-stage spray drying was established to describe droplet and granule motion,heat and mass transfer,and granule morphology during spray drying.Then,the relationships between spray drying parameters(inlet temperature,atomization pres-sure,slurry mass flow rate)and the properties of the drying tower(temperature and velocity fields)and mold powder granules(temperature,evaporation rates,moisture content,and diameter)were simulated and calculated using ANSYS/Fluent software.To ensure that the granule size of mold powder was controlled within the ideal range(0.2-0.6 mm)for producing granules with appropriate mechanical and metallurgical properties,the following optimum spray drying parameters were chosen based on the results of the numerical simulation:inlet temperatures,873 K;slurry atomization pressure,1.8 MPa;slurry mass flow rate,0.05 kg s-1.Among these parameters,the slurry mass flow rate has the most significant effect on granule size.

A new muon beam facility,called the Experimental Muon Source(EMuS),was proposed for construction at the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS).The design of the complex muon beamlines for the EMuS baseline scheme,which is based on superconducting solenoids,superferric dipoles and room-temperature magnets,is presented herein.Various muon beams,including surface muons,decay muons and low energy muons,have been developed for multipurpose applications.The optics design and simulation results of the trunk beamline and branch beamlines are presented.With a proton beam power of 25 kW at a standalone target station that consists of a conical graphite target and high-field superconducting solenoids,the muon beam intensity in the trunk beamline varies from 10^(7)/s for surface muons to 10^(10)/s for high-momentum decay muons.And at the endstations,these values vary from 10^(5)/s for surface muons to 10^(8)/s for decay muons.

Nuclear charge radius predictions by kernel ridge regression with odd-even effects

The extended kernel ridge regression(EKRR)method with odd-even effects was adopted to improve the description of the nuclear charge radius using five commonly used nuclear models.These are:(i)the isospin-dependent A^(1∕3) formula,(ii)relativistic continuum Hartree-Bogoliubov(RCHB)theory,(iii)Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov(HFB)model HFB25,(iv)the Weizsacker-Skyrme(WS)model WS*,and(v)HFB25*model.In the last two models,the charge radii were calculated using a five-parameter formula with the nuclear shell corrections and deformations obtained from the WS and HFB25 models,respectively.For each model,the resultant root-mean-square deviation for the 1014 nuclei with proton number Z≥8 can be significantly reduced to 0.009-0.013 fm after considering the modification with the EKRR method.The best among them was the RCHB model,with a root-mean-square deviation of 0.0092 fm.The extrapolation abilities of the KRR and EKRR methods for the neutron-rich region were examined,and it was found that after considering the odd-even effects,the extrapolation power was improved compared with that of the original KRR method.The strong odd-even staggering of nuclear charge radii of Ca and Cu isotopes and the abrupt kinks across the neutron N=126 and 82 shell closures were also calculated and could be reproduced quite well by calculations using the EKRR method.

Glufosinate-ammonium herbicides are the most widely used broad-spectrum,non-selective herbicides in the world.Glufosinate-ammonium is a structural analogue of glutamate(Glu)which can irreversibly inhibit the activity of glutamine synthetase(GS)and Glu decarboxylase in plants,thereby blocking the synthesis of glutamine(Gln)from Glu and ammonia(Hoerlein,1994).This causes the plants to die because of the nitrogen metabolism disorder and subsequent intracellular accumulation of ammonia.In humans,the characteristic features of glufosinate-ammonium herbicide poisoning include gastrointestinal symptoms and neurotoxicity(Watanabe and Sano,1998).

Stereoselective synthesis of multi-substituted cyclobutanes with different substituents is still a daunting challenge in organic synthesis.We report here a practical and facile approach to synthesizing all-trans 2,3,4-trisubstituted cyclobutanones from readily available dichlorocyclobutanones.The substitution reaction proceeds smoothly via oxyallyl cation intermediates under mild basic conditions.Further transformation to the synthesis of 1,2,3,4-tetrasubstituted cyclobutanes was also explored.

Reputation-based joint optimization of user satisfaction and resource utilization in a computing force network

Under the development of computing and network convergence,considering the computing and network resources of multiple providers as a whole in a computing force network(CFN)has gradually become a new trend.However,since each computing and network resource provider(CNRP)considers only its own interest and competes with other CNRPs,introducing multiple CNRPs will result in a lack of trust and difficulty in unified scheduling.In addition,concurrent users have different requirements,so there is an urgent need to study how to optimally match users and CNRPs on a many-to-many basis,to improve user satisfaction and ensure the utilization of limited resources.In this paper,we adopt a reputation model based on the beta distribution function to measure the credibility of CNRPs and propose a performance-based reputation update model.Then,we formalize the problem into a constrained multi-objective optimization problem and find feasible solutions using a modified fast and elitist non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm(NSGA-II).We conduct extensive simulations to evaluate the proposed algorithm.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed model and the problem formulation are valid,and the NSGA-II is effective and can find the Pareto set of CFN,which increases user satisfaction and resource utilization.Moreover,a set of solutions provided by the Pareto set give us more choices of the many-to-many matching of users and CNRPs according to the actual situation.

Promoting effect of FeOx addition on the mechanochemically prepared vanadium-based catalyst for real PCDD/Fs removal and mechanism insight

Industrial-use VOx-based catalysts usually have a higher active temperature window (>250-300℃),which becomes a“bottleneck”for the practical application of PCDD/Fs catalytic degradation technology.In this work,VO_(x)-FeO_(x)/TiO_(2) catalyst prepared via mechanochemically method was investigated for the catalytic removal of PCDD/Fs.The removal efficiency of 1,2-DCBz,pure PCDD/Fs gas generated in the lab,PCDD/Fs from actual fue gas,long-term were studied,and the degradation mechanism was explored using FTIR and TOFMS.The degradation efficiency of 1,2-DCBz and PCDD/Fs on VO_(x)-FeO_(x)/TiO_(2) were higher than that of VO_(x)/TiO_(2)catalyst,and the optimal FeOx addition ratio was 3 wt.%.The characterization results show that the addition of FeOx can effectively improve the pore structure,surface acidity,and VOx dispersion of the catalyst,thus contributing to increasing the V^(5+)content and surface-active oxygen,which is conducive to the improvement of adsorption and redox performance of the catalyst.Under the actual MSWI (municipal solid waste incineration)fue gas,the PCDD/Fs removal efficiency over VTi-3Fe-MC maintained long-term stability,higher than 85%for 240 min.This result was not significantly reduced compared with the data obtained in the laboratory.According to the analysis results of intermediate products by FTIR and GC-TOFMS,it can be inferred that the epoxidation fracture of benzene ring is the rate-limiting step of dioxin catalytic degradation reaction.This work gives an in-depth view into the PCDD/Fs removal over VO_(x)-FeO_(x)/TiO_(2) catalysts and could provide guidelines for the rational design of reliable catalysts for industrial applications.

Targeted therapies for lupus nephritis:Current perspectives and future directions

lupus nephritis(LN),a severe manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus,poses a substantial risk of progression to end-stage renal disease,with increased mortality.Conventional therapy for LN relies on broad-spectrum immunosuppressants such as glucocorticoids,mycophenolate mofetil,and calcineurin inhibitors.Although therapeutic regimens have evolved over the years,they have inherent limitations,including non-specific targeting,substantial adverse effects,high relapse rates,and prolonged maintenance and remission courses.These drawbacks underscore the need for targeted therapeutic strategies for LN.Recent advancements in our understanding of LN pathogenesis have led to the identification of novel therapeutic targets and the emergence of biological agents and small-molecule inhibitors with improved specificity and reduced toxicity.This review provides an overview of the current evidence on targeted therapies for LN,elucidates the biological mechanisms of responses and failure,highlights the challenges ahead,and outlines strategies for subsequent clinical trials and integrated immunomodulatory approaches.
